Second Half of the NEW YEAR.

Good Morning and that it is ….

The sun is shining and there is a nice cool breeze.

We survived a HUGE storm last night …

It has been awhile since I have heard thunder booming like a massive drum held up to your ear.

The light show was nothing to sneeze at either.

Lighting up the entire room when it flashed.

I looked out of the bedroom window at one point when the lightning flashed and it lit up the whole street in my view.

I must have fallen asleep shortly after I put my book down because the storm woke me up before 10:30 p.m.

Poor Alvin was a little stressed by it all but likely didn’t help when I was startled by the start of it all.

I heard that extra cracking and thud of hail as it hit the house and ground.

So happy that I had moved my precious flower pots out of harm’s way.

We were lucky as I surveyed the damage this morning.

Oh and the wind …. it was scary.

There were moments when I thought the roof was going to blow off.

My mind wandered briefly to the thought of a “tornado” but again we were lucky.

Just a huge wind.

It was the whole package …. one of those out of this world summer storms.

The rain was coming down so hard at one point that I could not see the other side of the street.

I have not got to the basement to check things but our drain system seems to function well.

I can hear the slight mews or it sounds like a cat but then as it got closer it was a crow.

Well as you can imagine after last night it was most difficult getting out of bed this morning.

Alvin did not want to lay down.

We were up and down a few times before finally settling on the sofa.

That seems to be his safe place.

Well as I am running extra late this morning …..

Will have to cut this short, I am sorry.

We are doing well.

Had two awesome walks in yesterday.

Which we so badly needed.

Supposed to be hot tomorrow so likely another storm tomorrow night.

Take care.

Be safe.

Live your life with kindness and respect.

Time for that first cup of coffee.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 11th day of November, 2015.

Today should be all about remembering and it would have been that way …. until about 23 minutes ago.

There is a dark shadow lingering in my house.

Alvin and I got up about 4:30 a.m. …. per usual and then once he had eaten and gone outside we hit the sofa for some extra ZZZ’s.

It was about 6:15 when Alvin jumped up off the sofa and tore off into the kitchen.

My heart skipped a beat.

I jumped up onto the arm of the sofa and turned on the kitchen light and found Mr. Alvin in hunting stance by the stove.

He was sniffing and barking and barking and sniffing.

So I know that this is some creature that does not belong in our house behind the stove.

He stood there what seemed like forever ….. then walked back and forth to the fridge sniffing as he went…

He walked over across the room and just starred at the stove.

I quickly moved his water dish into the living room and ran upstairs as somehow I feel safe up here.

We are in my office with the door semi closed so he has to stay with me.

He is whining at the door so I know my day will not be as planned and my near future is scary.

It is too early to be calling my neighbour but we shall hang out here as long as I can keep him here.

My daughter and son-in-law live too far away.

I feel so alone.

Thank goodness for Mr. Alvin otherwise I would not have known.

It is funny one should be here as I just moved some boxes of food from the upper cupboards back into the pantry.

They are up on the higher shelves in the pantry but it was likely not a smart move.

When I can I will be placing all boxes into a rubbermaid container for safe keeping.

Why is it they have to come into my house?

I keep a clean house.

There are not bits of food laying about.

My heart is racing and I just want it gone.

I want my house back again.

I could just cry …. my eyes are tearing up and my throat rasping …

What do I do?

I am afraid that Mr. Alvin will catch it and OMG I do not want it in his mouth.

He is standing at the door to the office … now pacing.

I know that he wants to go back downstairs and but I cannot.

I feel almost glued to the chair.

I wished that I had a solid row of cats that were hunters standing all around my house protecting us ….

It could be an invisible row ….

Please bring magic to me now.

I am afraid.

I have to make a decision shortly before Alvin goes crazy.

Time to call my neighbour …. my saviour.

I just want to be snoozing on the sofa. ….. why today?

I guess better today than tomorrow.

Special Hello: to all those folks in my position…. I understand

Always, Carol and Alvin

Just have to tell you …..

Quick story.  Last night during our week long wind storm, Mr. Alvin had to take a trip outside.  I opened the back door.  He started walking on the deck.  All of a sudden we heard this noise (kind of scary, groaning sound) Alvin turned his head, and looked up. While I was stepping outside to check things out …. AL high tailed it back into the house.  So what did he see?  Well a large section of siding had come loose on my neighbour’s side of our duplex.  The siding is loose on the second story.  It is still attached by the window but each time the wind blows it looks like it will be ripped off and take flight.  Each time Alvin goes outside he looks up to see what is going on.  Isn’t that cute?

Thanks to my “guard” dog.  He is cautious as he looks up each time he/we go outside.  Better to caution on the safe side…..

Always, Carol
