Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 21st day of November, 2016.

Wow, the weekend is over?

Those hours zipped by for sure.

It was an eventful, fun and good news kind of weekend.

This is a story that I shared on Facebook on the weekend and I thought that perhaps I would share it with all of you.

Just to share my morning with you all and perhaps bring a smile to your face. One of the first things that I do on a Saturday morning is to make coffee in my percolator. I love the way it tastes. Some time ago the little glass piece where the coffee races to the top as it goes through the percolating process BROKE. I was devastated thinking that I would have to go out and buy a new pot. But I was able to “fix it” and life carried on until this morning. Drum roll. I put the coffee on as usual and ran upstairs to get dressed and grab the laundry to start. While I was upstairs I called my neighbour to let her know that coffee would be ready shortly and to come grab a mug, (we do this every weekend). After I hung up I went downstairs to find a dark liquid on the counter and running into the sink and onto the floor and all over the back splash on the cupboard and on and on and on. I did not freak out (which is a good thing). But I did hope beyond hope that there was coffee left but alas it was not fully perked and was only warm and most of it escaped. So I picked up the toaster that had been there earlier so that the moisture would not destroy it. Grabbing the towels that had been folded up on the counter and without thinking started to wipe up the coffee. Argh, they were my Christmas ones that are white with Christmas scenes on them. Oh well now they will be mocha with Christmas scenes on them. I took everything off the counter and quickly cleaned and wiped while all the time watching for my neighbour. I managed to remake the pot before she arrive and we patiently waited while the second pot perked. I WATCHED the pot to ensure that it didn’t BLOW the “glass part” again. We finally had coffee which was good. I pulled out the stove as the coffee had run down there, too. Ended up vacuuming the dust bunnies that always seem to collect there, and washing behind the stove as well. I had pulled out the pot and pan draw underneath and found COFFEE in there so took out all of the 1,000 pieces of tupperware and other containers and cleaned the drawer. Okay this is beginning to look like a book. Ended up moving out the fridge because if you are going to move one appliance then you might as well do them all. Right. I borrowed my neighbour’s steam floor mop and cleaned the floor. The main floor was clean. But was it really. Over the course of several hours I had pulled out the utensil drawer only about five times. It seemed for some reason not to slide as easily as usual. Finally I realized that that drawer had about 1/8 inch of coffee in the bottom which covered every single little gadget in the drawer.
Okay finally got 500 little things all washed up. ALL FOR THE LOVE OF COFFEE……. What a morning but on the upside my kitchen is CLEAN, CLEAN from top to bottom and every place in between…. Happy Saturday.

******************************************************************************************

So after all of that one of my old friends who happens to live hundreds of miles away in Ontario is having a lid sent to me.  He knows

someone in the “coffee business.”

How blessed am I?

Saturday was busy.

Yesterday was the Christmas Event.

It was crazy fun.

Stella & Dot had some beautiful jewellery and other fashion items like purses and this huge weekend tote, very nice.

Scentsy would not like to smell amazing scents, very nice.
Steeped Tea was a hit and I did quite well sales wise and was able to introduce people to our product.
Very proud am I to be Canadian as Steeped Tea is a Canadian Business.
That was my Sunday.
Weekend over.
Good news on the Elton front (my grand-puppy not so much a puppy any longer but he has his days for sure) ….. after a couple of days on some new
medicine he is feeling a bit better.  We wish him pain free days and to have many many more days with his family.
Time to go to work again, seems like I just left on Friday and it is already Monday.
Have an awesome Monday everyone.
Special Hello to: Elton, we love you.
Always, Carol and Alvin
P.S. I was able to restore the towels to their before mocha colour …. white.  Whew.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 20th day of November, 2016.

Today marks the first of two Christmas Events that I am a participant.

This Sunday I will be with Steeped Tea at my friend’s house along with a rep from Stella & Dot and one from Scentsy.

This is my first home party multi vendor event.

I am excited to see the other products and excited to show Steeped Tea to everyone attending.

Yesterday it snowed off and on all day but a fine dry snow.

We now have a light blanket covering the ground, rooftops and lawns.

Mr. Alvin is downstairs chewing on one of his treats.

He loves to chew and thankfully it has always been his food and treats.

The sky looks a white grey colour as I look out of my office window.

Just seems like no break from the ground to the sky all one colour.

I guess winter is officially here.

It feels like it now.

We have been so blessed with a warm November.

Well time to go and put the finishing touches on preparation for the Christmas Event.

I hope that you all had an amazing weekend.

My thoughts, and every ounce of positive energy are directed to my grand-puppy Elton.

I hope that he has many many more good days and less bad ones.

Special Hello to:  Elton, who has been one of the loves in my life for the past 12 years.  Thinking of you buddy.  Alvin and I love you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 15th day of November, 2016.

Half way through this month as of today.

November has been wonderful weather wise.

Last night we enjoyed our walk.

According to the weather reports cooler weather is on its’ way.

Not too much but not so many days on the plus side.

I have been thinking as of late about deadlines for tea sales, the cut off to guarantee the orders arrive before Christmas.

I have been thinking about baking.  When to start and what to make.  Definitely sugar cookies top the list.

My daughter had the photo of Alvin and I printed for my Christmas cards so have to start writing cards.

I usually include a letter whether one typed up or hand-written; it is a big job so must get started on that.

A few gifts (mainly hand-made this year).

There is a dinner party for a few friends in there somewhere.

Lots to do.

Tea party this weekend.

It is actually a Christmas Shopping Event.

Two other vendors will be at my Hostess’s house: Stella & Dot and Scentsy.

Should be fun.

One stop shopping for the Holidays.

I am excited.

In December one of my co-workers from the office and I am hosting (at my house) another Christmas Event.

She makes “Natural Bath Products.”

So I have some baking to do for that event.

Also good to try something new.

Well here we go again, time to finish getting ready for work.

So happy to see dry ground outside.

But I will be donning a lighter winter jacket today as yesterday my spring/summer coat was just a bit on a light side.

I hope that you all have an awesome day.

I must sit down and make a LIST of everything that I have to do and all of the events/dinners/coffee dates etc.

That way nothing will be missed or forgotten.

Back here tomorrow morning.

Special Hello to:  my family and friends in Saskatchewan.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 11th day of October, 2015.

The wind has been howling since the wee hours of the morning (all night) along with some rain.

I always find it scary/interesting when it appears that the clouds are moving over head.

I am just on my way to have coffee with one of my girl friends.

YAY ….

I will admit (but not to everyone) that now being at the halfway point of my four days off that I have not accomplished anywhere near what was on my list.

In fact, I did tear up the list and write another one.

There has been time spent with Alvin ….. we went on a nice long walk yesterday after the Scentsy party …. it was gorgeous …. over 25 degrees Celsius …. SO NICE.

So decision has been made ….. have the list and do what you can …. plus take time to play with Alvin and also time to relax.

One important item for today after the coffee date I am going to go through my upstairs office and get this room back in order.

That is a for sure item.

We can crank up the music and just go at it …… toss what we do not need.

I must admit I had not been to a Scentsy party and I really enjoyed the scents.

Almost felt like I was cheating on Bath & Body Works …..

Is that not sad.

There has to be a good mix for everyone, right.

I did have a great Saturday ….. after our walk ….. Mr. Alvin had a bath …. now he is looking extra cute.

At bedtime I have been reading “How to See YOURSELF as You Really Are” by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

These few lines I thought were important to share to everyone at this time:

“Each religion works to lessen suffering and contribute to the world; conversion is not the point.  I do not think about converting others to Buddhism or merely furthering the Buddhist cause.  Instead, I try to think of how I as a Buddhist can contribute to the happiness of all living beings.”

This really does say it all …… no matter what your religion, trying to convert others to it, is not the point, all that truly matters is that we all contribute in our own way

to the happiness of all living beings. (not just humans).

Perhaps if we spent less time trying to make each other like ourselves and more time working on happiness we would be in a better place.

Just wanted to share on this Thanksgiving weekend.

Have a great Sunday.

I am off to have a cup of coffee and share in conversation and laughter as we do.

Special Hello to: my sister and her family, to my brother and his friends, to my brother and his family and to YOU ….. Happy Sunday.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 8th day of October, 2015.

One week into October.

The days and evenings have been beautiful.

Alvin and I are thoroughly enjoying our walks.

Last night we stopped at my friend “P’s” house as she wanted to give me some flower bulbs to plant.

Alvin loves running and snooping around her yard.

He managed to upset a pot, thankfully it was empty and did not damage anything.

He was like a bull in a china shop.

Running here …. running there.

Just as far as the leash would allow.

I am excited to plant these bulbs ….. there are pink lilies and two others.

It was so nice out last night.

Ah but …. gotta love those ah buts…. it got dark so quickly ….. we arrived home just before 8 p.m. and it was already dark.

By December we will be going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark.

I wonder how the folks do that live way up north.

Part of the year they do not see any sun light.

Well I am excited today is my last day to work this week.

I took a vacation day to have an extra long weekend.

Lots to do.

Errands on Friday and start the fall cleaning … purging inside the house and preparing to decorate for Christmas (November 1st).

Saturday, I am attending a “Scentsy Party” at a neighbours and cleaning in between.

Sunday, coffee morning with friends and laundry and the cleaning thing.

Monday ….. baking chocolate chip cookies for my Open House and relaxing before back to the office on Tuesday.

Lots to do but enough breaks to make it fun.

Oh, Mr. Alvin is having a bath on Saturday …….  poor little guy looks like he needs another hair cut …..

Perhaps when he goes to his sister’s house next weekend they will be able to give him a bit of a trim.

His hair just grows so fast.

Well here we go again almost time to leave to catch the bus.

I hope that you have an amazing Thursday …..

Special Hello to: all those folks who share ….. it is always the right thing to do.  We have so much …. spread the wealth.  Really, most people do.

Always, Carol and Alvin
