Last Half 2022 – December

Good Morning ALL! How are you this morning? Did you sleep well? I had a pretty decent sleep. Since Alvin’s departure to this sister’s house, I find myself taking longer to actually fall asleep. I suppose when the body next to you is clearly relaxed and “lightly snoring” – it cues you to do the same. I miss the little guy so much but on the other hand it has been great being “single.” I have made that reference a few times in the last couple of days because being alone feels like being single again. He kept me in a routine of sorts, his but still a routine. Tomorrow is one week since he went to stay with his sister and in two weeks he will be back home. My daughter shared that the night before last he slept through the night. No middle of the night getting up to go outside. Wow, he almost never does that. I am happy that he is settling in with them and is comfortable and not anxiety ridden as I felt/feel guilty enough with him not being at home.

I am glad that today marks the end of the week. We are having a Secret Santa and little Christmas party with our group which takes in three small departments totalling 17 staff including a Manager and Supervisor. It will be a nice break on a Friday. I made up individual packages for each person of chocolate chip cookies. That way everyone can just take a package and we do not have to put our fingers on them. With all of the “bugs” going around – better to be safe than sorry.

Countdown to Christmas Eve: with today being December 9th there are only 15 sleeps remaining.

I love the photos that come up on my computer screen each morning. What a wonderful reminder of where I have been and where I am now with thoughts of where I may be in the future. I absolutely love the photos of me and my siblings. They seem to rotate a lot so I take that as a reminder from the Universe that I should reach out to them. It can be a simple text or a phone call or even an email. Just reaching out. They are the ones outside of your parents that know you the longest and usually the best. Siblings. There are only four of us now – we started out with five. We have an angel watching over us each and everyday. I can feel him around him. He was so charming and loveable. I just spoke to my youngest brother a few days ago which reminds me to reach out to my other brother and my darling sister. Oh, when I see those photos, I think of way back then. A simpler time not always easier. To my sister, if you are reading this, I love you and miss you so much. To my brothers, well I love you both very much and miss you as much. Family.

Well looks like the clock is counting down and I still have to pack the Secret Santa gift, a small gift for my Manager (and friend) and the big container of cookies.

Have an awesome day, it is Friday. YAY.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and coffee.

Always, Carol & Alvin

PS: Grateful for the reprieve from winter temperatures.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 13th day of December, 2018.

Well short cute story.

I am sitting at the computer, just now.

Alvin is standing beside me, just looking at me.

He gave me that “did you forget something look.”

I said to him how cute he was and then I remembered that I had forgot to lay his blue blanket on the floor so that he could lay down.

Smart cookie, me Alvin.

His Momma, a little slow, today.

He was right up wanting a massage bright and early this morning.

Morning massages have got to be a regular part of our morning routine.

So last night after I had shut off the light and was settling down to sleep.

I was thinking of our Secret Santa Gift Exchange at work and the potluck lunch and our temp.

We worked on some things together yesterday and so before drifting off to sleep, I thought that perhaps she had not started before we drew names.

I thought how horrible she might feel to be left out and not that it was on purpose so I decided that I could be “her Secret Santa.”

Why not, I have gift bags, tissue paper and gifts.

Comes in handy to sell Steeped Tea, NORWEX and make jewellery.

There is always something in the house for those last minute gifts.

I also usually have a couple of other items that I picked up along the way.

So when Alvin got me up at 3:45 a.m. – I grabbed a gift bag from the office and a gift item.

After Alvin went outside and as we headed to the sofa for a bit more sleep, I set the microwave for another hour.

Once back up – I raced down into the basement to grab some tissue paper from my wrapping container.

Found some ribbon, some construction paper to make a tag and headed back upstairs.

I grabbed my tea tub and picked out something for her.

So then put the gift together – wrapping each item with tissue paper and placing inside the gift bag.

I placed two pieces of tissue paper one inside the other and tied them together with Christmas ribbon.

Then placed it in the bag.

That gives you that professional look and it stays together and in place.

The one thing that I could and can not locate is my single hole punch so that I could punch the paper to make a tag.

Guess I will have to staple the tag to the bag.

Oh well, I tried.

I was going for the “Martha Stewart” look and instead got the “Early Morning” Carol look.

Well almost time to finish up getting things together.

A salad from the fridge to add to the buns/butter for the lunch.

Sometimes you can do things last minute and they work out just fine.

I hope that you have an awesome day.

I put on a sweater this morning that my kids gave me for Christmas a few years ago.

It is long stretchy and black and I thought would look good with my black pants.

I guess I am not quite the same size as back then but it fits ….. perhaps a bit more snug than before.

Oh well.

That is life.

Hoping that the ice melts soon.

I have to chip some tomorrow night and bake cookies for my friend.

It will be a busy Friday night.

Well gotta go.

I hope that you have a great day and perhaps a giggle over my adventures.

Somewhere along the way – I dreamt that we had three more dogs in the house.

They were small and just showed up out of nowhere.

How does that happen?

What does that mean?

YIKES.

Special Hello to: all those Christmas ANGELS, thank you.  Always feels good to give.

Always, Carol & Alvin
