Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 31st day of January, 2019.

The last day of January 2019.

WOW, that flew by.

Seems like I say that often.

 

Alvin’s best buddy, Teddy arrived last night after supper for a couple of days.

His parents are taking a month long vacation.

Lucky guys.

Teddy’s Aunt J is going be looking after him while they are away.

But she is at their destination now and will arrive at Teddy’s house a few hours before they leave.

So that Aunt J can get some sleep after her long trip – Teddy is here until Friday night after I get home from work.

We are lucky that Alvin has a friend close by that can spend time with him.

They usually settle down better or shall I say Teddy does except for last night.

Perhaps he knew that he wouldn’t see his Mom & Dad for a long time, I don’t know.

But he was certainly restless.

Both the boys are in the office with me now.

Alvin is chawing on a chew treat while laying on his blue blanket with Teddy looking on.

 

Well it appears by the forecast that today will be our last “mild” day before bitterly cold temperatures set in for at least one week.

I know that a good portion of western Canada was in a deep freeze so we certainly cannot complain.

Starting February tomorrow and the weather can be all over the map, much like our January has been.

Whatever it is we will get through it, one day at a time.

I will enjoy a nice walk with the boys tonight after work.

 

Looks like almost time to leave for work.

Alvin is making this crazy sound as he chews on his treat …. sounds like a breathing machine or something like that.

Teddy looks on….

Oh, the boys.

 

I am blessed to have such great family and friends.

They are always there for love and support.

We all need advice, a shoulder to lean on or an EAR to listen.

With that said Master Teddy wanted up and as he is more of a lap dog than Alvin, I scooped him up.

Wow, he is so much lighter than me Alvin.

Well I had better sign off for now.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 14th day of June, 2016.

It is a bright and sunny morning here in Edmonton on this 14th day of June.

Alvin and I enjoyed our walk last night.

It was so nice out.

 

Cute story:

Last night on my walk from work to the bus I came across this man walking down the street.

Okay, you say, nothing “cute” about that but wait …..

He was sauntering along smoking on his cigarette like this was the most normal thing in the world.

Or perhaps he was just trying to get a rise out of people.

But no matter.

What did I see perched on his shoulder but a pigeon.

Yup, a bird on someone’s shoulder in sort of downtown Edmonton.

Pretty sure it was a pigeon.

It was a medium size one.

I was walking behind him keeping a normal walking distance.

One man passed us and he said Hello and could barely contain the smile.

He almost made it passed the man.

We came to a trash can and the man pulled in and I passed him.

I wanted to turn around but though that might be a bit tacky so I did not.

But I was smiling all of the way to the bus.

I guess you just never know what/who you are going to meet on the way to the bus after work.

 

Well time to get this show once again on the road.

I hope that this little story made you smile as it did for me.

As we lay there sleeping wrapped in the big white fluffy blankets, I dream of childhood and Christmas; my favourite time of year, and there was one in particular.

When we moved into the new two story house on the farm my bedroom was on the main floor just off of the living room ……. I had a birds eye view of the Christmas tree ….  this one year I wanted to wait and watch for Santa ….. pretending to be asleep …. once  I heard noises figuring it was Santa I waited for him to leave ……  slowly opened the bedroom door and getting down on my hands and knees  crawled out toward the tree ….. only to be stopped dead in my tracks by my Mom’s voice “GET BACK TO BED” ….. I had been so quiet ……

My favourite Christmas was 2005  …..  the log cabin in the mountains …. the clear night sky …… the stars shining so brightly …… the food …… the stone fireplace ….. love and laughter ….. feather comforters …… coffee by the fireplace ….. the best place in the world.

Kids singing Christmas Carols …… Grandma playing the organ in church ….. our Charlie Brown Christmas tree …… turkey cooking at Grandma’s house ….. snow falling …… baby crying …… sister smiling …… dog barking ….. opening presents . driving to Grandma and Grandpa’s house ….. the trees out front of their house all light up ….. it is Christmas once again.

I realize how much I miss my house, the flowers in my yard, my Christmas tree ……. whoa ….. what did I think ….. was it spring, was it summer or winter when this first happened and I realize maybe now for the first time that I have literally no idea how long we have been gone ….. a day, a month, years!!!

All of a sudden I hear this small gurgling slightly roaring sound coming from my stomach ….. guess it has been awhile since I ate anything …… Alvin, too must be starving  ….. suddenly a banana, some fresh carrots, a piece of chocolate cake, and a cup of coffee are sitting on a table in front of us….a FEAST.

Well no matter if this is real or a figment of my imagination …  we are going to eat  ….. mmm, as I peel the banana Alvin goes crazy as he absolutely loves banana ….. carrots …. we love carrots and for me my favourite habit …. COFFEE.

Yes, hot coffee …. it warms my throat as I quickly take a sip and trying to hold onto the taste reminding me of home …. Alvin is happy as we finish the last bite of banana and continues crunching away on the carrots and for this time we have no worries.

I just feel like crying even though Alvin is here I am all alone …. no one to discuss things with ….. no shoulder to cry on ….. as the tears well up in my eyes the feelings just explode inside my body, and my heart  hurts …. where are they ….. please let us come home …. I just want to go home…… please, help us find our way home……..
