2021

Good Morning ALL. How are you this morning? Alvin and I are up and getting things done. Today we are celebrating Alvin’s 12th birthday with a birthday party. Amanda, Steven, Aspen and Milo are coming this afternoon. Also Alvin’s best friend Teddy and his little sister Kobi will be joining us. Alvin turned his head when I mentioned their names this morning. We are almost ready. I will go and shovel the driveway and clean off the deck and the front sidewalk in a little while. I don’t want to do it too soon just in case it snows some more. The sky is overcast so there would be more snow. Gifts are wrapped. Good Bags decorated and filled. I baked vanilla cupcakes from scratch yesterday. They turned out good. I had to taste one as I had not made this recipe before. I will say that they are a substantial cupcake, not fluffy but not dry so that is good. Will keep on the hunt for a good vanilla cake/cupcake recipe. The pasta salad is prepared. I must remember to remove the garlic bread from the freezer so that it can thaw (it will be put in the oven, so I guess that doesn’t matter so much). I am chopping a few things like avocado, tomatoes, cucumber and green pepper in separate bowls for those who would like to add it to the salad. I do not wish it to become mushy. Oh, one quick mop of the main floor as I noticed a couple of paw prints that appeared out of nowhere. I wonder whose those could be? I wonder. LOL. Oh, I must not forget the birthday cake and frozen yogurt for Alvin and his guests which has to be kept frozen (will take it out shortly before they eat).

Oh, last night I watched the last remaining shows of the first season of BRIDGERTON. I like the speed of the show, as they move it along quickly. I was going to mention some details about the show and then deleted them. As, I thought that perhaps you may not have watched them as yet OR you are just starting. I was happy with the ending though. Very happy.

A reminder to everyone out there. Do not forget to change the filters on your furnace on a regular basis. The filters that I use are required to be changed every two-three months and also have your the vents/ducts on your furnace and dryer cleaned on a regular basis as well, which is every two years. I am overdue and am going to make an appointment to have it cleaned in early spring. Really important and it is something that we quite often either put off or forget about – mainly due in part to the cost and time. But it is very important.

Yesterday was the first day of much dipped temperatures and they will continue over the next week. Dig out your extra warm winter coat, boots and mitts and scarves and hats.

Well looks like I had better head to the shower and get ready followed by breakfast and some coffee. Shovelling, quick steam mop of the main floor and finally chopping some vegetables for the salad.

Then the guests will begin to arrive.

I wish you a Happy and wonderful Sunday.

We will continue to live with kindness, respect, compassion and patience.

Always, Carol & Alvin, the birthday boy.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 9th day of January, 2016.

Kind of rolls off your tongue …. Saturday the 9th day of January, 2016….. with a bit of a ring to it.

It is quiet here in my house at 8:27 a.m.

Looking out the office window the sky looks like dark and looming as it is overcast.

No sight of a sunrise.

None to be found.

We were up earlier at 5:40 a.m. (which is even late for Mr. Alvin) for Alvin’s breakfast.

It just did not seem like the time to be getting up to start this day.

I love just laying in bed … pondering things ….. dozing off …. waking up and then the “light comes on” and it feels like it is time to get up.

Alvin felt that way because when I made the move to get up a few minutes ago …. he literally did a couple of little jump hops before jumping off the bed.

A shower will be welcome this morning …. they help get the day going.

With no hint of sunshine it feels like bedtime not time to get up.

I find in the winter time it is hard to get going early in the morning or even at this time when the sky is overcast.

We have not had much sunshine this winter …..

My daughter will be coming in a couple of hours or so and that does make me want to get up and get going.

I have lots to do before her arrival.

I guess the lights in the house will mimic sunshine for now.

The warmth of the shower will feel somewhat like the warmth of the sun.

I will trick the energy into my body.

Perhaps wherever you are there is sunshine and the above is not an issue.

I hope there is sunshine where you are this very moment.

But for me and the one million plus people living in Edmonton …. lights and showers will have to do.

Have a Happy Saturday.

Be kind …. be respectful ….

Let’s show the Universe that the people of Earth are caring, compassionate and kind.

Let’s show the Universe that we deserve this beautiful planet.

Let’s show the Universe that we can.

Special Hello to: my fellow people of Earth …. have a great day.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to FRIDAY the 24th day of January, 2014.

YAY it is the weekend.

Beautiful windy warm morning.

It has got me to thinking about the different sides of things – you know the ying and yang of life.

When I was about to turn on the shower this morning I cringed for a nano second just as the cold water hit my body followed by the warm.

How about one day the temperature is minus 20 celsius and the next it is above zero and melting?

How about laughter and tears?

Or perhaps like and dislike.

There are so many examples of this in our lives.

It is a fun challenge to remain on the “LIGHT” side.

To think of the warm wonderful shower.

To think of clear sidewalks and days getting brighter.

To think of laughter.

So on this funky Friday …. that is what I am calling it ….. FUNKY FRIDAY ….. have a blast and try walking on the light side ….. the positive flowing ….. fun side.

Have a great day…..

Special Hello to: all those positive thinkers ….. your thoughts do determine your life.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday, January 30, 2013.

Well we have passed the bitter cold day of yesterday and it feels a bit warmer this morning.

It is snowing here in Edmonton.  It is funny how much we as human beings talk about weather.

I was reminded by someone that sometimes my blog sounds like a weather report for Edmonton.

But I guess we write what we observe and usually that is the first thing that I see in the morning as I write.

I always think Alvin looks so cute when he comes in from outside with the snow glistening on his coat (his natural one).

He always makes me smile in the morning as he wants to go out but hesitates at the doorway.

He sniffs the cold air and sounds like he is sneezing as he decides ….

But when you have to go you have to go and no matter how cold it is …..

I always have to giggle when people at work are sharing their similar pet stories.

Oh, the puppies.

I am glad that for Alvin and all the other puppies that have good homes .. that their only hardship is having to “go outside.”

I wished that all of the dogs and cats had good homes and were well looked after …..

On this beautiful Wednesday morning I hope that life is treating you kindly.

I hope that you have all that you need and a little of what you “want” …. because you deserve it.

I hope that when you wake up to a warm house you think “wow, I am so blessed to have heat” on this cold day.

I hope that when you have your bath or shower you think “I am grateful to be clean” and have running water.

I hope that when you put your clothes on you think “this is great, I am so lucky to have these clean, nice things to wear.”

I hope that when you eat breakfast you think “I am so grateful to have good food to eat.”

Remember that even if you are not a millionaire ….. or live in a big house ….. or have five cars in the garage …. you are BLESSED.

We are lucky …. you are lucky.

I wish you the best day ever.

Spread the wealth ….. be kind …. smile ….. lend a hand.

Special Hello to: all those pet owners and kind people ….. you rock.

Always, Carol and Alvin
