Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 7th day of August, 2017.

The sky is partially overcast here in Edmonton and we have already had a rain shower this morning.

The household is up and going already ……

Alvin had me up early and we were later going to bed.

But that is nothing new.

It has been great having my sister staying with us.

Yesterday we enjoyed our time at West Edmonton Mall and luckily were there early before the holiday weekend crowds began to show up.

Once early afternoon hit it was crazy busy with people scurrying about and by that time we were done so we grabbed a bus and came home.

Alvin was happy that we were not away for a long time.

Today we have some grocery shopping to do for the BIRTHDAY PARTY tomorrow night.

My brother arrives tomorrow night and also my sister’s son and family will be dropping in at some point as well.

It was unexpected for them as they were attending a wedding in Calgary but when my nephew had an extra week off from work they decided to come this way.

My nephew’s wife has a brother in a nearby smaller city not far from Edmonton.

So it all works out.

I am excited to see their three sons.

The eldest and I used to do everything together as I was living nearby from the time he was in his Momma’s tummy until I moved to Edmonton.

The next two were born after I moved to Edmonton and the elder of the two I saw only twice and the little guy, not once.

So it will be great to see them and catch up.

Of course, we have SKYPED before so I am not a total surprise to them.

Well time to get this show on the road as I have to prepare my shopping list.

Some housework to do today …… maybe a bit of decorating ……. a few streamers and balloons.

Thought for the day …..

Good Afternoon and Welcome to Tuesday the 27th day of December, 2016.

Well we slept in a bit and then received a call from my old neighbour who invited me over to see their new house and to have coffee.

It is so nice out – just perfect for a walk which we will be doing shortly here.

I guess the tree and decorations will be staying up for a few more days now.

Looks like New Year’s Eve I will put everything away.

I had a wonderful visit with my friend and old neighbour and they have a beautiful home.

Alvin was so excited when she stopped in to pick me up.

He patiently waited at home while I went for a visit.

Can you believe that today is the 27th already …… some people already back to work others of us so grateful to have more time at home.

I have some things that I want to do before heading back to work but have decided to just let the days go as they will……sometimes good not to plan everything.

I have a couple of items on my list that I want to get done but otherwise I plan not to plan.

Good to just relax and breathe.

Last night I SKYPED with my sister for over an hour, which was nice.

I love being able to see her as we chat …. the next best thing to being there.

Mr. Alvin is patiently waiting so this will be short today.

Not much on my mind other than I am so very grateful to have some time off at home.

Time to do whatever I choose.

Or nothing.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 8th day of February, 2016.

Have you ever awaken to feel like this is going to be a great day.

A day like no other.

Feeling like something magical, fun, wonderful and absolutely fantastic is happening to you on this day.

Well that is how I feel on this Monday morning.

I will admit a bit unusual for a Monday morning …..

Usually I do not sleep well Sunday night and Monday mornings are sometimes a bit of a strain to get up and get motivated but not TODAY.

I will admit that I asked Alvin to stay in bed until the alarm went off but it was not because I did not want to get out of bed.

Just because I wished to lay there and soak in the morning …. un-feted (is that even a word) by the day.

So here we are ….. breakfast done, shower check, make-up check and writing blog …. almost check.

Mr. Alvin is as usual laying outside the office door waiting for me.

He is so loyal ….. we could all learn lessons from our four-legged friends.

He is always waiting by the front door for me to arrive at home after work.

He is always happy to see me and I know he has to pee and is hungry …. but nevertheless he always takes that minute to ravish me with attention.

Now what a way to welcome someone home.

It doesn’t matter if I am gone all day or for 20 minutes ….. he welcomes me in the same way.

So today is the day …..

Perhaps a dream will come to fruition or just something nice.

It does not matter ….. I just feel great and that is what matters.

 

We had a great weekend in my household.

Friday night my daughter came for supper.

Saturday morning breakfast/brunch with my friends at International House of Pancakes or IHOP, as it is lovingly referred to …

Saturday a bit of shopping in the afternoon (okay at Walmart but it was still shopping).

Sunday I stepped out and did some canvassing for the Heart and Stroke Fund and received some donations.

So a great weekend by all accounts.

Even managed to do some work in between all of the socializing.

Now I will admit Alvin did get the short end of it all but I will make it up to him.

 

Well almost time to get this show on the road.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 4th day of January, 2016.

Well here we go the first work day of the New Year.

I hope that it is a wonderfully quiet productive day.

Alvin slept well and I was awake every second hour throughout the night.

Part is due to being a Sunday night and the other back from being away from routine.

It would likely be so much easier if we would have stayed up at 5:00 a.m. and went to bed at 9:00 p.m.

Did not quite happen that way ….. so today is back to work.

Getting back into the regular routine.

Yesterday was a fun last day before going back to work.

In the morning one of my friend’s came for coffee and at night I SKYPED with my sister.

In between we relaxed ……

I want to make this year different so I stayed up until midnight on New Year’s Eve, was out for supper on New Year’s Day and got my hair cut on January 2nd.

Sometimes just by making a few changes can bring about some new things.

2015 was a good year …..

My thoughts are quiet at this time because I am preparing for work.

That takes preparation.

After being off for ten days my body and mind are in home mode.

I do love being at home.

Okay, now then …… back to work.

I will miss spending time with Mr. Alvin ….

Not sure if he will be glad or not to see me back to work.

Perhaps he likes his quiet time.

Okay ….. well then …..

WORK ….. if it has to be……

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 14th day of December, 2015.

Eleven days until Christmas Eve.

Alvin and I had a great Sunday …. the perfect extension to Saturday.

I put the finishing touches on some things around the house, wrapped gifts for work exchange and gifts for my kids.

We went to deliver Christmas cards and were invited into for a “cup of cheer” at one house.

I love going to this neighbour’s home as she is older and we always and I mean always have great conversations.

Her memory is sharp as a whip and she tells me things that I either did not know or have long since forgotten.

She loves Alvin almost as much as I do and he loves going to her house.

Not having anything to do with the “treats” that she lovingly prepares for him.

We visited for a few minutes at another neighbour and friend’s before heading home through all of the snow.

Upon arriving at home we found two young men likely in their twenties.

Literally standing in front of our house.

One had a cell phone and the other a snow shovel.

Odd combination, I thought as I did not recognize them.

I soon found out what was going on.

They were taking a FB (Facebook) Challenge to see if they could get two people out of five to give them $10.00 for shovelling their walks / driveways.

Well I was feeling in the festive mood having nothing to do with the double my friend had poured me earlier …. oh no.

More to do with the fact that I just figured that the $10.00 I had in my wallet would be money well spent to have all of that shovelling done ….

I do not mind shovelling but we have been shovelling every day…..

So they shovelled the front (including the other half of the duplex), my deck which is big and the driveway.

In the end I met two more of my neighbours ….. heard a bit of their stories …. and the shovelling was done.

Once finished I went into the house and started supper.

I figured things were okay as Mr. Alvin seemed to like them just fine and they liked him, too.

I hope that they found one more house in the time period allotted which was a total of 40 minutes.

Well guess I had better get this show on the road.

I also SKYPED with my sister and my great niece.

It was nice to catch up face to face.

It reminded me of when I was a little girl and dreamed of the days that we could speak and see the person you were talking with ….

I had the idea …. likely not first but I did have it when I was a young girl.  That was a long time ago …….

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 13th day of October, 2013.

What a grand weekend it has been thus far.

Friday I had coffee with two of my friends and neighbours.

SKYPED with my sister on Friday, as well.

Worked at the store Friday night.

I had coffee and worked on a special jewellery order with my daughter on Saturday.

Emptied the last flower pots and mowed the grass.

Raked the leaves from our tree out front.

There was a huge pile and they were so pretty.

Still a few leaves are hanging on.

Had a great walk with my Alvin last night.

Am thinking that I am one grateful girl ….

Make a list of all the things that you are grateful for and you will be surprised.

There are so many things.

Well time to go to work at the store.

I love my Sundays.

Have an awesome day.

The day before Thanksgiving ….

Perhaps you are spending the day with family and or friends.

Thought for the day…..

Good Monday morning and welcome to July 23rd, 2012.

It is a bit cooler here in Edmonton, which is a nice way to start the day.

The sky is overcast to the south but the sun is coming up.

I had a glorious weekend.

Friday spent the day doing housework and picked up groceries and I worked in the evening at the store (Bath & BodyWorks).

Saturday morning did the final food prep for my company then SKYPED my sister and had coffee with my girlfriend G and then finished making sure the house was ready for my company.

My company arrived and we had a grand visit.  I showed of my home, we chatted and chatted, worked a bit on a project that one of my friends had brought along with her (tracing pieces for a quilt) and supper.

It was so enjoyable.

The icing on the cake was a nice walk with my Alvin out by one of the nearby lakes.  The water has gone down considerably.

Yesterday was sunny and hot here in Edmonton.

My daughter came for coffee before I went to work.

I worked at BBW from 11:30 – 6:00 and then home to have supper and spend some time with Alvin.

He had spent the day with my daughter, son-in-law and their puppies so he was tired so we shall have an extra long walk this evening.

So I had a jammed packed weekend but it was great.

I hope that each and everyone one of you had an awesome weekend as well.

Now back to work.

Thought for the day…….

Good Monday Morning – today is January 9th, 2012.

Another gorgeous morning.

Alvin is resting on the foot of my bed (he goes up there while I am getting dressed in the morning).

I was thinking this morning as I was writing in my gratitude / daily journal how much I loved having him snuggle on my lap as I write.

OMG, he can curl up ….. I shall deem him the MASTER of curling up.

He looked so cute.

He makes my mornings ….. somehow getting up at 5:00 is much easier with him here to go through the process.

He is such great company.

I hope that you all have someone to wake up to ….. whether four-legged or two …..

The four-legged ones (like Alvin) are there every step of the way (whether I am eating or getting dressed or brushing my teeth …. he’s there).

Today I am extra grateful to have Alvin here with me.

HAVE A SUPER GREAT DAY.

Good Monday Morning All,

I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend…

Mine was spectacular ….

I had two great shifts at BBW …

Hosted a Ladies’ Night … our Christmas party…..

My daughter surprised me with a yummy Christmas coffee from Starbucks…..

Had a couple of good walks with Alvin…..

Did lots of housework……

Spoke on the phone with my BFF Lea from Quebec on Saturday morning, and her Mom last night….

SYKPED with my sister on Saturday morning …..

Missed having our routine coffee date with Gillian as one of her boys was sick ….

Did some writing ….. had some down-time …..

Enjoyed the rain on my way home from work….

Yes, raining in Edmonton on November 27th…..how crazy is that !!

It was the perfect weekend….

Wow and here it is Monday morning once again…..

Even though I feel that I accomplished lots over the weekend …. the time still seems to fly by.

But that is okay …. I HAD THE BEST WEEKEND.

I am grateful for my weekend and all it’s joys.

I hope that you upon reflection of your weekend can say the same thing.

Even if you only had moments that were great ….. that is good.

So have a great day on this beautiful Monday morning.
