It is a NEW YEAR.

Good Morning ALL,

Wow, can you believe that it is April 30th, 2020.

Last day of April already.

Yesterday was an OVER the TOP FANTASTIC day for me and I will include Mr. Alvin in that declaration.

This is what happened:

  1. One of my girl friends picked up some light bulbs that I had been needing.
  2. My daughter and one of my grand-pups came for a visit, we did not hug and practiced social distancing and she wore a mask inside the house.  She also brought me lunch and a cold treat which I forgot to have for dessert last night.  My favorite “buster bars” from Dairy Queen.  She also gave me some “dilly bars.”  So great to see them and catch up in real time.
  3. EPCOR phoned and arrived just before 2:30 p.m.
  4. My friend the plumber arrived shortly thereafter.
  5. TAP fixed with only a couple of momentarily hiccups just after 4:00 p.m.
  6. Found out that my smoke detectors had expired (did not realize if they were hard-wired that they had to be replaced, but if one thinks about it, makes sense).  Check yours.
  7. Went for a walk with Alvin.
  8. Another friend down the street who is an electrician happened to be out walking with his youngest son  – so I asked him about the smoke detectors and replacing them.
  9. Our friend P and her grand pup Georgie were out working in her backyard and she invited us in for a visit.  Social distancing of course.  We stayed in the backyard.
  10. Happy to hear the sound of silence throughout the evening.
  11. My neighbour mowed the front lawn and I was so caught up with everything that I did not notice when we arrived home from our walk.
  12. Lovely evening …. just hanging out and watching episodes of “Love It or List It, Vancouver.”
  13. Perfection and a full day.
  14. I also worked in the morning.

What a incredible day.

I am over the moon happy to have the kitchen tap fixed.

Now I have a few more things to get repaired/replaced.

YAY.

It is the small things (and not to say that these are small things).

Does not have to be a luxury trip around the world.

Does not have to be a lotto win.

Having a tap fixed.

Lunch with your daughter and grandpup.

Chatting with a friend in her yard enjoying the early blooming spring flowers.

Having someone mow the lawn unexpectedly.

I am so blessed and so grateful.

Okay time to grab that coffee and do the poo pick up.

I wish you a world of small things.

Enjoy your Thursday.

With kindness and respect.

I/We remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

Wow, so great to wake up to bright sunshine and clear blue sky.

So wonderful to receive the rain over the past couple of days but always good to see sunshine.

Guess what!

Couple of things.

Alvin seems to be his old self but I spoke to Vet’s Office yesterday and it was agreed to bring him in his morning.

Yesterday was cold and raining and we would have had to walk there so better when not raining.

Just going to have him checked this morning.

OTHER thing …. I was able to download/upload my photos from my cell phone to my computer.

It was easy.

Not sure why I did not figure it out sooner but better late than never.

So I am going to share some of the 270 photos that I have taken with my phone since first day of May 16, 2019.

Also remember these were all taken here at our home.

Couple in the car with my daughter.

I will not share all of the photos as some were videos and some were duplicate or triplicates.

One of my favourite subjects:  Humphrey.

Enjoying his time outside.

My Grand-pup Milo in the above photo.

Followed by Alvin and Humphrey.

Just catching some zzz’s

I could take photos of them all day long.

Unfortunately the shots of Humphrey make his beautiful orange coat look dingy.

Preparing the gifts for the new to turn 40 year old.

One of my friends ….

I hosted her birthday party a couple of weeks ago.

The boys helping me get ready for the Birthday party.  Teddy, Humphrey and Alvin.

The birdie that made a next in our backyard.

Haven’t seen them as of late but am hopeful that they are around.

Birdies on the fence and down below not in frame on one side of the fence was Mr. Alvin and on the other was Sir Humphrey.

Two birds, a dog and a cat.

What a combination.

Humphrey hard at work digging his way out of our backyard.

Smoke filled skies

Night sky …..

With my daughter driving to my house …. the flowering cherry trees so pretty …..

Well I have to go as did not realize that this has taken almost one hour.

Big day today.

Alvin has an appointment to see the Vet this morning.

My daughter has her ART SHOW and SALE tonight.

I am over the moon.

I hope that you enjoy some of my favourite photos taken from my new iPhone, new to me.

Sadly there are many more but running out of time.

Have an awesome Saturday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday December 31st, 2015.

Happy New Year’s Eve.

Normally Alvin wakes me up around 5:00 a.m. to have his breakfast.

Not this morning ….

I was laying awake when just after 7:00 a.m. the sound of sirens came closer to my house.

Jumping out of bed, I saw the first fire truck stop just on the other side of our duplex and then a second one stopped right in front of my house.

SCARED ME.

We went running downstairs ….. I could not see a fire anywhere ….

I opened the front door and did not see anyone out front.

We could hear the neighbour (not in the other half) but next door’s dog HOWLING.

I quickly fed Mr. Alvin his breakfast.

I put on my boots and we went out onto the deck and all of their lights were on …. Capone, their dog was pacing on the deck.

Something was wrong.

Alvin howled alongside for support.

There did not seem to be flames and no one from inside the house including the firemen were outside.

So that was a good sign.

I did not want to go out while the firemen were there so I just kept an eye out.

They were there for almost one hour ….. then they were gone.

So I decided to go to D & K’s and see if there was anything that I could do.

D & K and all four of their children and Capone were in the living room ….. reeling from what had just happened.

K said that the alarm detected smoke and went off but they were unable to find the source.

The fireman diligently checked every electrical outlet and the walls and could not find any fire.

While I was there …. we determined that the smell which the firemen said smelled like burnt wax was coming from the furnace register/vent by the front door.

We surmised that perhaps one of the young ones put a plastic figure or wax crayon down the register/vent.

The furnace had not kicked in so they turned up the thermostat and that smell definitely came from the front register/vent.

*********************

I decided it was time for me to go home and offered my home for them if they needed to have the vents cleaned or whatever.

So home I came …. figured I had better get my blog wrote and have breakfast just in case they come over.

What a morning …. thank goodness everyone is okay.

This is a reminder to folks with small children to make sure that toys do not get put down the registers/vents.

We can breathe again.

Mr.  Alvin was worried for sure when he heard Capone howling he had howled in return.

So glad that all is well.

I was going to blog highlights from this year …. or perhaps plans for this next one but instead the Universe decided differently.

So I shall take this opportunity to put the word out:

A reminder for all …… be sure that you have smoke detectors and that they are in working order.

A fire extinguisher …. they have one … I do not, and I will be purchasing one right away.

Make sure that you have a plan in case of an emergency.

DO NOT LEAVE CANDLES BURNING UNATTENDED.

Your life can change so quickly …. make certain that your house is safe on this New Year’s Eve and every night.

Take care.

Special Hello to: EVERYONE …. Happy New Year’s Eve.

Always, Carol and Alvin
