The New YEAR 2022

Good Morning ALL! What a beautiful morning. Feels like a tropical heat wave. Almost time to bring out the sandals and light jacket, almost. Well something kind of unnerving but cool at the same time happened this morning, almost one hour ago now. I was on my way back upstairs to have a shower when I saw a dog running by my house. As it ran, I realized that it was a coyote and not a dog. I have never seen a coyote go by my house. It turned down the next back lane going east and then headed north. Unfortunately I did not have my phone in my hand as I was going to pick it up when something caught my eye outside on the street. Would have been great to have had a photo of our visitor. I sure hope that no one left their dogs outside unattended as I think that they can actually jump the height of our fences. I immediately texted all of my friends in the neighbourhood to warn them. One of my friends already texted me back to say that she saw a big one running down the street about two days ago. They are getting brave and must be hungry. Quite scary. Another reason why I do not walk with Alvin or by myself in the dark. It is hard not to in the wintertime. But when we go after work, will make sure that we go right after work no dilly dallying about. We have a lot of rabbits in the neighbourhood. I know it is the circle of life but the thought makes me feel bad/sad. Anyway, it is good to be aware of your surroundings and I am glad that I let my friends and neighbours know.

I sure could have stayed out in the backyard this morning as it is so warm. Really nice. The snow is becoming sticky and is feeling like snowman making time. Perhaps later.

Last night I went to visit one of my neighbours, the one with the new pup. The name reverted back to its’ original one which is Kami. She is a delight and for eight months old, quite well behaved. We will be watching her on Wednesday night while her Mom goes curling and I cannot wait. Excited for Alvin and Kami to get to know each one a bit better. They have met so that is great. I also have to go into the office tomorrow for the day. My neighbour will come and check on Mr. Alvin as I do not wish to leave him alone for that long of a day. Too long for an older guy.

Well time to have some coffee (sure am enjoying my new coffee perk) and get settled in for work.

I look forward to walking at my lunch break again today. Yesterday was nice but today is warmer already.

Have an awesome day. Be careful and enjoy your day.

Continuing to live this day with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilities.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time

Bright blue sun filled sky this morning.

Welcome to the weekend.

Last night we had rain.

This morning we have “black ice.”

I have a decision to make regarding Alvin’s 10:00 a.m. appointment with Dr. K.

It is a regular one for nails and anal glands.

I am thinking that I should ask to see if I can push it to a later time today before they close at 2:00 p.m.

Our sidewalks are a skating rink and even with the ice picks on your boots, it can/could be dangerous walking to the clinic.

Some photos from last night.

Humphrey joined us for a couple of hours.

He loves Alvin’s bed curled up looking at the Christmas tree, so cute.

Then the rain.

Yes, it was.

Raining last night.

I was so wishing that I had left my downspout connected.

Now you see about the black ice this morning after it froze.

The temperature is not cold but enough to make it dangerous for walkers and for driving of course.

I threw in some photos of my Snowman and Snowwoman, just because they are so cute.

Yesterday at work, we said goodbye and congratulations to a friend on her retirement after 27 years of work at our office.

It was very sad and exciting all at once.

I am happy for her as she looks forward to some major changes.

Well I guess this will be short as it is almost time for the clinic to open and I want to see if we are able to change Alvin’s appointment time.

I wish you all an awesome Saturday.

Be safe.

With kindness and respect, always.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 19th day of November, 2018.

Alvin is laying on his blue blanket beside me as I write this blog.

The house is quiet except for the click clack on the keys and our breathing.

I can hear neighbours rustling outside as they scrape the frost off their vehicle’s windshield.

Temperatures still quite mild for this time of year.

To be +6 or so today which is so nice.

Last night when we went for a walk it was raining.

As we left the house we saw one of our neighbours and chatted while we walked.

She is one of Alvin’s favourite people.

It was not a cold rain but was not raining especially hard so we walked to the park and home.

Not far but at least a bit of exercise for both of us.

We have some snow on the lawns and decks and on the extreme side of the streets.

It will likely be a bit icy this morning after raining yesterday and below freezing temperatures overnight.

Feels like a morning to share some photos from previous winters:

My daughter, Alvin and I went on this photo adventure on Saturday. It was minus 30. We got some “cool” shots. Alvin thought it was a real deer….. grr

One of the first winters in Edmonton – so much snow.

So happy to see his guy out and about …..

A few years back – so much snow.  No place to put the snow.

First snowman me and my sister made since we were kids ….. (2009)

In flight ….. gotcha

Well here we are once again.

Time to leave for work.

I hope that you have an awesome day.

Be kind to yourself.

Take that walk.

Smile in the mirror at yourself and there will be a smile returned.

Happy Monday.

Special Hello to: my sister ….

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 16th day of February, 2018.

YAY, it is Friday.

Forecast is for SNOW, oh yay.

Can you sense my enthusiasm?

I am happy it is the weekend and a long one at that.

Monday is FAMILY DAY so we have the day off from work.

A nice treat.

I think that today shall be photo day, favourite photo day.

I am going to post some of my favourite photos.

Hoping that they bring a smile to your face and perhaps spark a good memory for you.

The most yummy CARROT CAKE and it happened to be for my 60th Birthday.

Oh, me Alvin ….. just relaxing.  Every weekend morning we lay on the sofa as he likes to get up at 4:00 and his Momma not so much.

So we get up, he eats and has some water and then goes outside to do his morning constitutional (his business) and then we snuggle on the sofa for about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

But normally I would be on the other side of him.  He is so darn cute.  CUTENESS alert.

I love owls and they always remind me of my Mom.

She is gone but not forgotten.

Nothing more special than a Momma and her babies.

Alvin and I saw this beautiful family when we had been out for a walk in the summer.

Babies are so fuzzy and cute.  Momma is graceful.

Tulips for Canada’s 150.

I love Tulips because they are my daughter’s favourite flower.

My grand pups ….. more CUTENESS.

Miss Aspen on the my left and Baby Milo on the right.

So cute.  Aspen is reserved and Milo, sometimes a holy terror.

We love them so much.

One of my most absolute photos is of my grand pups that have since passed.

Miss Penny on the left with the red scarf and Sir Elton on the right in the blue.

They were the loves of our lives for many years and we hold them in our hearts and thoughts forever.

Deck complete, what a beautiful sight. Now for the flowers…. FUN

Back in summer of 2010 one year after I moved in ….. I contracted this deck to be built.

No regrets.

Back when he was still a young one …. Mr. Alvin basking in the sunshine on the deck.

First snowman me and my sister made since we were kids ….. (2009)

Our Beautiful Mom Jeannie,
1938-1993

Wrapped gifts …. so beautiful….

I love wrapping gifts for Christmas.

Whoops time to go.

Have a great Friday.

Special Hello to: You.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day….

Welcome to Tuesday, March 6th, 2012 ….

Looks like we should be strapping on the snowshoes and going for a hike.

We received a fresh blanket ….. a thick warm blanket of snow last night.

It was still snowing when Alvin and I went outside about 5:00 this morning.

Looks like we have more snow now than all winter combined.

Our temperatures have been quite mild so that has been great.

We have been blessed weather wise this winter for sure.

I hope that wherever you are at this moment in time ….. that your temperatures are mild, the winds are calm and the sun is shining brightly.

So as far as all this snow goes ….. we here in Edmonton might as well embrace the white stuff …. make a snowman, go snowshoeing or ski-doing or whatever snow related activity you can think of …..

Have a wonderful day …… drive carefully …… always tell your loved ones that you “love them” and do something for someone else …. be KIND.

Remember whatever we give out we get back tenfold.  I believe this to be true.

What goes around ….. comes around.

It is true.

Have a blessed ….. fantastic …. awesome Tuesday.

“Alvin” ….. I love you  ……

“Ruff Ruff” …. Love you too Mama…….

Special Hello: to all those Canadian Snowbirds and Vacationers ….. I hope that you are enjoying your time away and that the sun is shining ….

Always, Carol and Alvin ……  🙂
