Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 31st day of December, 2016.

Snowed overnight.

Guess shovelling is in my near future.

My daughter picked up Alvin for a sleep-over last night.

Sure seems quiet in the house and took me a bit to fall asleep last night.

Miss his cuddles for sure.

Oh, me Alvin.

So,

The very last day of 2016.

Let me see 2016.

Alvin and I managed to stay up until Midnight welcoming in the New Year, 2016.

It seems like every new year is born with hope for a wonderful year ahead.

I guess going into 2016 we knew that it would be less than wonderful but we held hope.

We lost our Penny mid March and life changed.

Elton had major surgery in April, the scary kind that someone older generally does not recuperate from but he beat the odds and came back to us.

He gave my kids more time; the time they needed to start to heal from the loss of Penny.

They took the time, and made the most of what would be Elton’s last remaining months with our family.

He passed away on November 22, 2016.

We miss them both very much.

Our four-legged fur babies – our family.

Baby Milo came into our family in October about one month before Elton passed.

A golden puppy who lit up the room with his bouncy baby energy.

In their short time together they bonded, and Elton once again had a “sibling.”

Just days before Christmas my kids once again found a doggie who needed love and a good home and adopted “Aspen.”

She is just over one year old, same colouring as baby Milo and such a gem, so loving despite her time before being rescued.

It always amazes me on the deplorable behaviours of some human beings.

I cannot believe but I have seen on many occasions; despite how absolutely horribly some dogs are treated; how loving and wonderful they are …..

So amidst the sorrow we found joy.

Joy is a good place to be.

We take this time to remember all of our loved ones whether two-legged or four that we have lost this year.

There were many.

You will always be in our thoughts and hearts, forever.

They have formed who we are, and we have learned so much from their time on this earth.

Our puppies took the forefront of our year, and everything else just happened.

Of course the everything else that happened included a record number of garage sales held between May and August.

Still selling Steeped Tea and working full-time.

Many walks with me Alvin and so many cuddles.

Spending lots of time with friends throughout the year.

Sharing stories and laughter.

Before we knew it the year was over.

The week after Christmas leading up to New Year’s Eve is filled with thinking back on the year, perhaps making resolutions for the year ahead, and making plans for bringing in the New Year.

My wish for 2017 is that you take a look over your life, and take note of what is really important.

Spending time with your family whether two-legged or four or both is so important.

If you are unable to physically see them the technology is there to video chat via SKYPE, and other formats.

Do things with your family and friends instead of buying their joy.

Go on that walk instead of watching television.

Put down that cell phone and spend TIME with them.

Have dinner together and be with your family.

Simplify your life.

Spend less on stuff.

Spend more on doing things.

Create memories that will last a lifetime.

Your children will not remember that video game in 50 years but they will remember those long walks you took together.

They will remember sledding.

They will remember roasting marshmallows around the bonfire.

They will remember the time you spent together.

Which is the best legacy you can give them.

Simplify your life.

Wishing you and your family the most wonderful New Year, 2017.

May you find joy in the little things.

May you find continued good health.

May your lives be filled with abundance.

May you continue to grow and to learn.

May you spread kindness to all creatures.

May you love and respect yourself, and all others.

Happy New Year.

Special Hello to:  All the creatures on this planet.  Happy New Year.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 24th day of April, 2015.

Well it is finally Friday …..

Are you thinking that as well?

I know that is like seeing the glass half empty inside of half full but it has been a long week.

Work at the office has been extremely busy and a bit on the stressful side.

But that is life and at the end of the day I am very grateful to have a good job in this economy.

Plans for the weekend?

Well, my “to do list” keeps growing every time I turn around.

So I will be busy.

Lawn care ….. laundry ….. cleaning bathrooms ….. dusting ….. floors …. you know that STUFF.

The best part of the weekend other than being at home with me Alvin is that Amanda and family are coming for brunch on Sunday and a visit.  YAY.

We are still adjusting to the quietness of the two of us.

I am sure it will take time to once again being just the two of us.

I am so grateful to be down to one job ….. two jobs is HARD WORK.

Not the work as much as the time ….

Time away from home …… when home everything has to be done in less time.

Always boils down to TIME.

Either too much or not enough.

I guess for most of us it is not enough.

Just have to reconfigure the best use of it.

So I am grateful to be home in the evenings and weekends.

Well here it is time to put on the finishing touches and catch that old bus to work.

I guess for the most part we are in a routine ….. for now.

I feel great ….

So happy that this day is Friday.

Special Hello to: my sister ……. it is time to SKYPE and catch up.

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 14th day of April, 2015.

YAY, my last day of work for the week.

I am so excited to have the rest of the week off and also the weekend.

Five days in a row.

Sad, part of the week is that tomorrow night is the last night the kids will sleep in my house before moving into their brand new house.

We are all excited.

I am excited to see the house all done and they are excited to live in it.

The pups will be wondering what the heck is going on but we will all adjust.

So many last ones …. so many first ones.

Another chapter over another one beginning.

The sky is overcast this morning …..

I hope that it shines tomorrow and Thursday for the move.

The kids pick up the keys tomorrow and then we (me and the pups) get to see the new house.

We will move some of the smaller stuff and then Thursday the movers will arrive.

It will definitely seem strange without them here.

The past eight months have flown by …. seems like yesterday they were moving in with us.

Well time to go and tackle my last day at the office ….. lots to do there.

Busy place.

Special Hello to: to all those people confronted by change ….. just go right at it……. you can do it.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday, February 26th, 2013.

Here we are at the second last day of this glorious February 2013.

We have had a great month both me and Alvin.

We basked in some awesome warm weather.

Enjoyed our walks.

As spring approaches followed by summer ….. we daydream of our long walks on dry sidewalks with no heavy coats.

Happy Spring ……

I was watching “Katie” last night and she had someone help with her “clutter” …. to get reorganized.

I am thinking that the majority of us are hoarders on some level.

While I was watching I looked around my living room and thought about the basement and my office upstairs.

My living room is definitely not filled with clutter.  I would say it is at a good place.

My kitchen is the same although I have a couple of drawers that tend to get away on me from time to time.

My bedroom and bathrooms are perfect … not overdone and the books have spots on shelves … nothing on the floors except the bed and dressers and the tub, toilet and vanity…..

Now the basement and the office …. might be considered cluttered but “semi-organized” clutter, you know what I mean?

In the office: books on the shelves (just likely too many of them – but I love my books); storage containers in the closet filled with an array of memorabilia.

It is those storage containers that frighten me ….. I think it is time to be ruthless …… GO FOR IT.

But then my inner little girl that likes to open up the card boxes and go through them from time to time ….. says “please, no.”

The basement has a story all of it’s own.  Two things down there that I cannot part with and they are: CHRISTMAS stuff and the baby collection of items for my grandchild.

Now the baby stuff I am only storing and it has it’s place so really it is not out of hand but the Christmas stuff …. and oh, I forgot the stuff that did not sell in the garage sale that I brought back into the house.

Bad girl.

Anyway you get the picture.

We all have our “issues” ….. and that’s okay.

We just have to keep working on them and we will reach “our” perfection when we are ready.

So have a great day …. please do not get too hard on yourself when you watch those shows that tell you that you have things to fix.

WE ALL DO.

THINGS TO FIX ARE WHAT MAKES US PERFECT.

Special Hello: to all those keepers/collectors of stuff.

Always, Carol and Alvin
