Last Half 2022 – December

Good Morning ALL! What a beautiful morning! The sky is blue with hints of orange on the horizon as the sun rises on this Sunday morning. How are you doing? Considering I was up until after 2:00 a.m., I am doing well. Likely the energy will dissipate over the course of the day as I usually go to bed just after 9:00 with lights out no later than 10:00 p.m.

Two of my friends Gillian & Signe came over and we celebrated our Annual Christmas Party, I cannot even tell you which number this is. I would have to look back on photos but we have been doing this for years not long after I arrived here in Edmonton. These girls are amazing and I love them dearly. They are about my daughter’s age and give me a modern outlook on life. I do not feel 65. Also last night at some point before the girls left we got a fresh blanket of snow and when I looked out of the window a few minutes ago – there it was – waiting to be shovelled. So once I get downstairs and put on the coffee and before I do some more laundry (bedding), I will run out and shovel. I guess I figured the Christmas Shoveling Angel would have magically swept it up, lol. We had such a great time last night. We chatted about everything from A to Z and everything in between. Everyone brought appetizers to contribute to the potluck and we had so much food. Enough for 10 not 3. Lots of leftovers. Everyone got great gifts. All things that we can use. We were all happy to revel in each other’s company and the gifts were an extra special touch.

I am going to cut this short this morning as I want to get laundry done, bring up the dried clothes and do the shoveling. This will be a day to relax as I have an even bigger party coming up next Saturday and then of course, I work all this week. Starting the week off at the office.

Perhaps free air will do me some good. Nice to see the sunshine or at least a clear sky. Have an awesome Sunday. Take some time just for you. I might go out for a walk as I have not had a “real” walk since Alvin went to Amanda’s a week ago yesterday. I do miss him but he is doing so well out there, it has been worth my missing him.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and coffee.

Always, Carol & Alvin

PS: whoops had to edit my post as I forgot the countdown to Christmas – for this Sunday, December 11th, 2022 there are 13 sleeps left until Christmas Eve.

The New YEAR 2022

Good Morning ALL! How are you this morning? I hope that you are doing well. Alvin and I had a good sleep and I kept hitting the snooze button this morning, argh! The sunrise in the distance is so beautiful with hues of orange going up into the dark blue morning sky. No matter what the colour palette is, always gorgeous and is a good start to the day.

Well this morning I am going to the grocery store. My outing for the month, lol. Yesterday we hosted a small birthday party (there were four of us). The birthday girl was over the moon happy with her gifts. We did good. We had cake and fruit and coffee and some laughs and some near tears. Nothing new for us. I am so happy that we were able to get together. Then later Cookie’s Dad texted me wondering if they could come over for a visit. They came over just after 5:00 p.m.. His wife and daughter came along. First time I met Cookie’s Mom and she is lovely. I look forward to our next visit. She was so sweet and even offered should I go away on vacation or away that they would be happy to look after Mr. Alvin. Lots of company in small amounts but absolutely wonderful. Alvin was happy to see Cookie and she was super charged to see him. I missed her energy.

We also got in a short walk and ended up have a great visit on the sidewalk with the neighbours just down the street (the ones with the gorgeous yard). They were out chipping and moving ice and snow so that the water would drain. They were lucky and with some hard work located the storm drain. Mine will take some work but with us facing north, we just do not get the warm rays of the sun so takes much longer to melt. When we got home and after Alvin was settled in the house, I went back out and put some ice melt down and then a bit later did some ice chipping and managed to clear a bit of it away. Every bit helps.

Well time to go and have some coffee and I think that Alvin has to go outside. Better go.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Continuing to live with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilities.

2021

Good Morning ALL. How are you doing today. I have news about Mr. Alvin. The surgeon called me in the morning to explain about the surgery that Alvin was going to have a bit later. He was so nice and explained everything so perfectly. There was one surgery ahead of him yesterday morning. The surgeon went over the details of the surgery and what would be done to Alvin. I must admit that something got in my throat when he said what he was going to do. But I knew in my heart that he was in the best hands and that he was going to be fine, better than fine. So we chatted and I asked questions and then he was off to perform a surgery. He called right after lunch to say that the surgery went very well and that Alvin did great. Everything went as expected and that he could be discharged tomorrow which is today at 1:30 p.m. OVER THE MOON HAPPY. He also told me that I could call and check on him whenever I wanted as they were open 24 hours. I did not want to be the crazy momma that called every five minutes but I said that I would call later to check on him.

Later in the afternoon I called and was told that he was sitting up and looking checking out his surroundings. I did not have the heart to tell her that he was looking for me. I know that he would be. Anytime he had his teeth cleaned, as soon as he was out of the anesthetic he would be up and wanting to come home.

Unfortunately there will be some changes. No more fruit and vegetables and other treats. He will be on a special diet for now on. It was not because I did not feed him properly – things just happen.

My daughter and son-in-law are coming to pick me up and we will be at the hospital at 1:30 p.m. to pick him up and bring the boy home. I am so excited. I am not working tomorrow as I want to just snuggle and give him my full and undivided attention.

I am not sure if I will be posting tomorrow. I appreciate all of the love and support during this time and always.

Take care. Give your fur babies an extra hug and be good to them, they are family and deserve kindness, respect, compassion, patience and of course LOVE.

Always, Carol & my Alvin

We have snow this morning ….

A proper Gentleman

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 5th day of August, 2018.

The house is quiet at the moment except for the whirring of the fan downstairs.

My sister, Alvin and I are awake but not wanting to disturb the sleeping ones.

It is getting late – 9:30 – so soon we shall just go downstairs.

Alvin and I were up earlier for him to eat and go outside.

The sun is shining and it looks like a beautiful day on the way.

YAY.

We had a great time yesterday.

The birthday party was a huge success.

Today the family leaves for Calgary.

A couple of days staying at a hotel with a pool/waterslide, I think.

They will visit with our youngest brother.

The days passed so quickly ….. they always do when you have company ….. on vacation.

Alvin will miss everyone most especially my sister.

Yesterday we walked to the service station just out of our immediate neighbourhood.

Alvin and I waited on the corner as I did not wish him to walk on the street.

Busy streets with traffic lights.

He cried and tugged on the leash for her from the time she crossed the streets to the time she was back with us.

Was glad when she arrived back.

He loves his Auntie C.

I am so glad that they were all able to come and spend some time with us.

It was great getting to know the great nephews.

Well time to get this show on the road.

Have an awesome Sunday and enjoy the day.

Special Hello to:  my friend “V” in Regina, hope you are having a great summer.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 13th day of July, 2016.

Another cloudy raining morning with hopefully sunny patches.

Not much of a breeze which is good in case it rains.

Straight down rain is always better than on an angle especially when you are walking with an umbrella.

We have a field trip today as our office is closed to the public.

So we get to go and learn something new today.

I am excited.

Last night I spent the greater part working on my “Steeped Tea” business.

As of late, I decided that I should have a FB business page and I set out to set up that up.

It is kind of tricky to manoeuvre throughout the set up but I am getting there.

Always good to learn something new.

Trial and error.

Might take me a few days but I will be successful.

Also I have learned that it is important to use social media as a valuable tool in business.

It is the wave of the future.

Never would have thought of that a few years back.

I do remember thinking when I was a small girl about the days when we could see the person we were talking to on the telephone.

I am not sure why I had those thoughts but it has come to pass.

I am tired this morning because one hour on the computer turned into plus four.

Poor Alvin was so patient as we ended up going for a later walk and then when back home I was back on the computer.

Well that is all.

Just learning and spending a lot of time on the computer.

Have an awesome Wednesday.

Perhaps you will learn something new today.

Does not matter what ….. just good to learn something.

Special Hello to: all those folks who take the time to read my little blog, I appreciate your time and your comments.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 27th day of September, 2015.

It is a wonderful morning …. slightly overcast but we are having company in less than one half hour.

My daughter and grand-pups are coming to have pancakes and then we are going to make jewellery for the rest of the day.

If time and weather allows we might have our annual fall photos done.

My son-in-law is coming over at suppertime and we are going to have a birthday party for him.

Ordering in ….

Cupcakes all freshly baked and just iced this morning.

It is going to be a grand day …. it is a grand day.

My Steeped Tea ParTEA yesterday was another huge success.

I am starting to get the swing of this ….. tea thing.

I love the tea …..

Well as my company is going to be here shortly and I have my hair bound up above in a towel …. guess I better go.

Have to apply some makeup ….. just in case photos.

Well I hope that you all had a glorious weekend.

Happy Sunday.

Have fun whatever you chose to do.

Special Hello to: my sister ……. one of these days …… SKYPE …. perhaps a week night after supper???

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 21st day of June, 2015.

How glorious has this weekend been?  ….. VERY.

Started out with a vacation day on Friday.

Spent the day fixing and making the outside look beautiful for Saturday as well as the inside of the house.

I also did some more baking.

Saturday, I held my very first “Steeped Tea Party” and it was a huge success.

Mr. Alvin was very excited about all of the company, the ladies, to say the very least.

He even had my friend’s puppy “Sadie” over to play …..

He definitely likes to be the centre of attention that is for sure.

At one point I saw this long red thing hanging out of his mouth followed by the roar of the ladies, only to find he had been smelling about, and found this piece of liquorice in a purse.

I will admit he looked so cute and so guilty with this liquorice hanging out of his mouth.

He managed to eat a small piece before I got it away from him.

His first and last liquorice.

Needless to say his Momma apologized to our guest.

We learned lots and had a great time.

I give my thanks and gratitude to all those ladies for their orders and attendance, it was off the charts.

I love this tea …… so much to learn about steeping tea and have learned that it is truly an art.

So looking forward to learning more ……

I knew some about the wellness properties of green tea but there is so much more.

After the tea party was over and the last of the guests departed my daughter and I headed out for the Shopper’s Gala.

That was fun, too.

More treats, free things and some shopping.

Quick trip to the grocery store and then home.

Once home it was clean up from the party followed by a walk with Alvin.

Good thing because it rained for awhile.

We had such a great day and I am so tired …. slept very late today.

Not tired ….. really.

Well I guess I better get this day going ……

It is going to be a quiet one and deciding what to get for free stuff from my party.

I love free stuff.

YAY …….

I encourage everyone to try tea so good for us.

There are even some blends that will help with having dessert after supper.

I have always been a dessert person ….. I have a serious sweet tooth.

So this will help.

I hope that you all have an awesome Sunday.

Filled with love and laughter.

I will have that memory of Mr. Alvin looking guilty and pleased all at the same time … with that long piece of liquorice hanging out of his mouth …… the laughter, too.  Great moment frozen in time.

Oh my boy ….. he should be in the movies ….. he is quite the star.

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello to: all those folks who drink and enjoy tea …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 18th day of May, 2014.

It started out being bright and sunny but now the sky is beginning to overcast with dark clouds.

Well yesterday was a huge success.

Me and Alvin spent 2.5 hours out and about in our neighbourhood putting up posters for the big neighbourhood cleanup on May 31st.

We spoke or rather I spoke and Mr. Alvin did his thing ….. engaging everyone we met.

He should really run to be Mayor or Prime Minister.

I would vote for him.

It was so great to be outside for a nice long period of time.

It was warm and I was glad that I took water for Alvin to drink.

We enjoyed our afternoon immensely.

Visiting and playing with the tape dispenser.

That packing tape is always so much fun to use. …… not …..

Well time to go and feed Miss Aussie …… she enjoyed having the window open yesterday, and having some fresh air.

Oh, so exciting there have been so many robins in our area.

They make me happy …. I love their song ….. their chirping ….. so lovely.

So on this fine Sunday …. maybe take a walk in your neighbourhood ….

You can always take along a little bag just in case you see some trash blowing about ….

Thank you in advance.

Have a wonderful Sunday…..

Special Hello to: all those people who do volunteer work …. you rock.

Thank you

Always, Carol and Alvin
