Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 18th day of April, 2018.

Well the snow went by us yesterday with the exception of a few flakes later in the evening.

Otherwise we had mostly sunshine yesterday.

This morning the sky is the most glorious yellow and pink hues on the rise but a few scattered clouds from the night hovering above.

Looks like a beautiful day ahead.

I am going with a positive mindset as this snow has to go.

The water in our backyard has all but disappeared.

The streets are dry again and the sidewalks will be there as soon as the snowbanks on our lawns have melted.

Summer is just around the corner.

I heard a Crow cawing yesterday.

So excited to see my first Robin as they are one of my favourite birds.

Alvin and I hit the sofa for some extra zzz’s this morning.

So nice to have that extra time snuggling.

I was able to print off the RECYCLING DO AND DON’TS from the City of Edmonton’s website.

Just want to ensure that I am doing everything properly.

Sometimes folks it does not hurt to check and make sure that you have not strayed from the proper way to do things.

We all innocently forget sometimes.

I hope that you all have a great day.

Today we all will learn something new.

Doesn’t have to be rocket science – just something new.

Whether the name of a bird or a flower.

How to plant a garden?

What to plant in your garden?

Special Hello to: my friends back in Saskatchewan …. always nice to catch up.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 27th day of March, 2018.

The air feels a bit cooler this morning.

It is dark now.

ONCE I get outside I will be able to tell if clear skies are on the agenda for today or if cloudy ones.

What a great weekend.

Alvin and I enjoyed an even longer walk yesterday.

So grateful that the weather is improving.

It feels like a bright yellow day is on the way.

Daffodils are perfection.

So intricate and delicate.

Beautiful.

Last night I heard a goose honk as it flew by.

Have not heard that sound for what seems like forever.

I can hardly wait to see fluffy baby geese, goslings.

Like the ones that we saw last spring.

Time flies by.

Of course, guess what time once again …. time to go and catch the bus to work.

I wish you a wonderful Monday.

Happy Day.

Full of bright, sunny skies.

Special Hello to: my sister.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 21st day of March, 2018.

The first full day of SPRING 2018.

I hear that they have more snow in our long range forecast.

What I say to that is ….. that is okay as summer is right around the corner.

These end of winter spring storms are just, the end of winter.

Soon the snow shall me melted.

Soon our tulips shall be blooming.

Soon the bunnies will be all brown.

Soon there will be buds on the trees.

Soon we will be able to leave the house without warm winter boots with ice picks, heavy winter coats, scarves and mitts.

Soon we will be FREE from the winter weight.

Yes, it is going to happen, soon.

Update on Mr. Alvin.

Well we went to see his Doctor yesterday.

Now he has a yeast infection in the other ear.

ARGH.

So he has his final treatment in one ear and the first treatment in the other.

Next Tuesday will be the follow-up in one ear and the final treatment in the other.

Then we will be going back for the final follow-up.

Poor little guy.

I learned something yesterday.

Because he has floppy ears one has to keep them dry.

So when you are out walking or if he is playing in the snow, you must wipe them when he comes into the house.

Otherwise run the risk of a yeast infection.

Well time for me to fly.

Time always flies at this time of day.

I hope that you are all doing great.

Have an awesome Wednesday.

Special Hello to: all you bloggers out there – keep writing.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 9th day of March, 2018.

Lately the mornings start out on the cool side but warm up throughout the day.

I heard a rumour that we were supposed to have double digit plus temperatures next week.

But last night when I checked out the long range forecast on the weather channel, that was not the case.

Time will tell.

We are getting close to spring.

I believe that might have something to do with Mr. Alvin’s sleep habits.

He was up several times last night.

We even went to bed early which clearly has helped me feel even remotely “alert” this morning.

I will say that the first time he did go to the bathroom and then later, too.

Maybe just an off week.

Oh well, I am glad that today is Friday.

We enjoyed a nice walk last night.

On our walk we bumped into one of our friends just arriving home.

I asked about the family and said that they were good except for some bad news.

His mother-in-law had passed away.

He was glad that she had gone and spent some time with her mother before she passed.

I also found out that their doggie had passed away last summer.

I know that it has been awhile since we spoke …. time flies.

This was a huge reminder that I need to go and visit people, my friends in the neighbourhood.

Well time to go and catch the bus.

I hope that you all have an awesome day.

Good reminder to us all, check in with your friends and family a bit more often.

Time has a way of getting away on us.

Happy Friday.

Special Hello to: my friends who lost their Mother and doggie.  In my thoughts.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 22nd day of February, 2018.

Warming up?

Spring only a few weeks away?

Time will tell.

Are you watching the Olympics?

Unbelievable performances.

I was watching the half pike last night.

Sure hope that is the right name.

Some of the athletes had some terrible falls but all that I saw got up.

Crazy.

Some over 5 meters into the air.

WOW.

Well my little athlete was up extra early ….

At like 3:30 …. let him outside.

Then hit the sofa until 4:00 when we got up and he ate and then back outside.

Just I wait until the time changes ….. that is always fun.

Perhaps it will work out.

Tonight he is going for a few days to his sister’s house.

He will have fun minus the car ride.

His Momma will sleep until the alarm goes off, hopefully.

Well here it is time once again to leave the house.

I am wearing a new pair of pants that shrunk after being washed.

Wha a a, oh well.

I think shorter is in style right now.

No time to change and I am not wasting a new pair of pants.

After a few washes they will be capris and right in time for summer.

Laughing ….. smiling …. gotta go.

Special Hello to: all of you folks who take the time to read my blog.  Thank you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 13th day of September, 2017.

Dark outside and started to rain sometime after 4:30 a.m. this morning.

It is quite dry so a bit of rain is great for the plants and grass.

With the temperatures cooling down a bit – time to grab the spring/fall jacket.

Seems funny having long pants on two days in a row.

My legs feel odd.

Isn’t that the way it goes after all summer wearing shorts/capris/skirts and the like with bare legs.

Then fall comes and some days you need to wear pants.

That is the way she goes.

Well I am running a bit late ….. the extra clothing and lace-up shoes …… need time for that …..

I will say that we certainly enjoyed taking our walk last night – soon after Alvin had his supper.

Happy Wednesday you all.

To all those folks in the areas hit by the Hurricanes and flooding we are thinking of you.

We hope you are safe, dry and warm.

Special Hello to: my fellow human beings – please be kind to each other, to the planet and to all creatures big and small.  We need each other to survive.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and  Welcome to Thursday the 31st day of August, 2017.

Last day of this wonderful month.

Yesterday did not reach the temperatures that were forecasted which was wonderful.

However; this was not the case in other parts of Alberta and Canada.

Hot and dry – little or not rain.

We were blessed to have some moisture this summer.

It would seem that there is so much extreme with the moisture.

Either none or too too much.

We are thinking of our neighbours to the south affected by Hurricane Harvey.

May you receive the assistance that you need.

To all those that have lost family members whether two or four-legged, our hearts go out to you.

We are grateful to the men and women who have volunteered to help out those in need.

Also to all those whose job it is to help in crisis situations, thank you.

We see reports on the news and on social media of rescues and are grateful.

It will be a long way to rebuild your homes, communities and lives but you will do it.

Take care on this Thursday.

May you be warm and dry and have clean water to drink.

Special Hello to: my family all over the world including Houston, Texas.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 29th day of July, 2017.

So warm and muggy ….. am trying to cool off the house.

Just had a shower and feel warmer than before I got into the shower.

Perhaps will spend some time in the basement.

We are having company – the grand-pups are coming to spend the afternoon and evening with us.

We had a walk already this morning and I am ready for coffee.

COFFEE …. I can smell it.

It is ready.

Getting ready for my company ….. only six sleeps till my sister arrives.

Cannot wait and then four sleeps till my little brother arrives.

YAY, this is going to be monumental vacation and birthday celebration.

Time to go …… feeling like a hot flash although it is not.

Special Hello to:  You, keep cool.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 22nd day of July, 2017.

Today is the birthday of my nephew “Z” who is twenty-three years old.

Happy Birthday.

Hard to believe all of the babies are now all grown up.

As the days evaporate and come closer to my birthday in August, I have been writing about my life experiences whether wishes or actual.

This has been quite the trip thus far.

I would tell you all one things about this experience about writing down my experiences, my loves, about family, taking each year and acknowledging a memory, just anything and everything that your children and family would be interesting in knowing as time goes on and most certainly after you have left this earth.

Whether you grab a notebook or create a blog, writing down history and memories is so important for future generations.

What a wonderful gift ……

Well time to get this day going before it warms up ….. I want to have the house all in order before my company arrives in August.

Happy Saturday ….

Special Hello to: all those people visiting family this summer ….

Always, Carol & Alvin

COUNTDOWN: 60 Days to 60

Today is Saturday, July 30, 2017 and it is the 40th day until my 60th Birthday.

CORRECTION:  JULY 1ST, 2017 ….

The sky is overcast and it is to be a warm day here in Canada as we celebrate our 150th Birthday.

Yesterday at work I was reminded of my most favourite summer.

It was the summer of 1973.

One of my school friends and I had decided to go to Edmonton and get summer jobs.

My cousin and her husband were gracious to let me stay with them.

I got a job as an Executive Assistant at a large corporation.

We had both applied and I got the job.

I am still to this day not certain how that came about …..

The man I worked for was so kind to me.

I do not remember doing much actual work and was terribly spoiled.

I had zero office experience and remember learning how to use the “paper copier.”

He treated me to coffee and treats from the “Coffee  Cart” that came around the office at coffee time.

Even had me go and do some shopping.

In addition to having that great start to my off the farm work experience my cousins treated me to a summer to remember.

We went camping and ended up in a flash flood as we had set up camp on a dry river bed.  Quick exit.

They took me to see Charlie Pride at the Jubilee Auditorium and so much more.

BEST SUMMER EVER.

Always, Carol
