The New YEAR 2022

Good Morning ALL! How are you on this bright and beautiful Thursday morning? We are great. Second morning in a row where we have slept until a semi-reasonable hour. This morning first time up was 4:15 and then up for him to eat at 6:07. I am so excited. Of course, I had to go back to the sofa for some extra cuddles and zzz’s with Mr. Alvin before getting up to stay up. YAY. I can hear birds chirping outside even with the window closed. Our trees even though they are all different surprisingly are all covered with these little white flowers. It seems strange to me. One of these days I will have to do some research on all of our trees. I also will need to find someone tall that can help me trim some of the higher branches. My neighbours in the other half of the duplex – their tree and mine out front are almost touching and even though they are both different trees they both have little white flowers – looking like a canopy developing. Pretty.

I am very excited as I booked tomorrow off as a day of vacation. My friend Pauline and I are going to spend the afternoon at the nearby botanical gardens. We are hoping that the “lilacs” are now blooming. Everything is late this year due to the cold temperatures. My plants and flowers are okay but nowhere near they were this time last year. Perhaps we will have more comfortable summer temperatures this year. I like in the lower +20’s celsius range. Warm enough without a jacket or sweater but not too hot for walking and being outside. I need to download/upload the photos from my phone to the computer before we go tomorrow as I know that I will be snapping photos. Maybe I can figure out why I am not able to upload photos from my computer to this blog. Might be that I need to delete some.

We decided to change the garage sale from June 17/18 to June 25 and possibly 26. We will be joining the mass community sale and maps will be accessible through the Community Association. Hopefully this will bring in more people. Depending on how many items we have left, we may or may not continue onto the Sunday. Should be fun hanging out with my friends and my daughter (if she is able to come).

Well time to fly once again. Coffee smells good.

Have a wonderful Thursday.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus and possibilties.

Always, Carol & Alvin

2021

Good Morning ALL! How are you doing this fine Wednesday morning? Alvin and I are well and had a good night’s sleep. The sun is shining most brightly this morning and I imagine that the birds are singing happily as well. Mr. Alvin is chirping away and staring at me from his little bed in my office. Life is good. Today is the birthday of one of my little friend’s from down the street, he will be “11.” I cannot believe how big him and his two little brothers are getting. Time flies. We were invited to stop by for an outdoor “Happy Birthday” driveway event.

I heard a couple of great tips for folks. If you have old blankets and towels (of course in good condition) – you can donate them to an animal shelter. That totally makes sense. I wished that I had thought of that sooner. Also if you have old luggage (of course good condition) – you can donate to foster care. The wee children when they go into foster care and if they move around …. lots of times they do not have a suitcase ….. only a garbage bag. If this is for real, that is terrible. We all have an extra suitcase that we are not using ….. how about making a donation. My tips for the day. Also one from my heart ….. if you see trash on your driveway, on the street or in the gutter by your home please pick it up and put in your garbage bin, please.

Yesterday I worked the late shift. Alvin and I enjoyed a wonderful walk at 3:00 p.m. on my “lunch” break. The shift went pretty well as that shift goes.

Today the temperature is going to be another +18 celsius ….. summertime, summertime, summertime. I cannot wait to plant flowers. Speaking of flowers. I brought my “Canna” Lily up from the basement to put her outside to enjoy the sunlight and “bad” momma I forgot to bring her in last night. When I thought of it as I rose this morning, I ran outside to check on her at 4:00 (that is when Alvin got up) and she was okay. Thank goodness. So I brought her in and will put Canna out for the sunshine a bit later this morning. So grateful that she did not freeze. So grateful.

Wishing you all a great Wednesday. Go out and enjoy the sunshine.

Continuing to live with kindness, respect, compassion and patience. Always working on the patience!

Always, Love Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 10th day of July, 2017.

We had a hot Sunday here in Edmonton.

Wow, second day in a row that Alvin has not woke up before me.

Either is the heat or the fan.

We had an early start yesterday and accomplished so much before 8:30 a.m.

Even though we had a walk earlier in the morning – we went again about 11:00 a.m. with our friends.

It was very humid.

Our house was hot except for by the fan so we just had a relaxing afternoon and even had a NAP.

Yes, we did.

Thankfully it is going to be cooler for the next couple of days.

So happy for that.

Thoughts and prayers with the people of British Columbia where fires are raging out of control and the province has issued a State of Emergency.

In this situations it is all of the wildlife and poor animals that are not able to get away from the fires that I worry about the most.

Special Hello to: my family and friends in B.C.  – keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.  Be safe.  I am praying for rain.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 7th day of July, 2017.

WOW, we’re having a heat wave ….. not a tropical heat wave …. a Western Canadian HEAT WAVE.

Oh my goodness, I love summer but sometimes the higher temperatures play havoc with my essence.

I will say thank the Universe for the nightly breezes ….. making the higher temperatures more bearable.

I can only imagine Alvin and all the fur babies of the world.

How do they survive the heat?

This is nothing compared to other locations across the planet.

I do feel for Alvin ……

When I arrived home last night at almost 6:00 p.m. (don’t get me started on that one), it was 80 degrees F. in the house.

It cooled off quite quickly after I opened the windows.

Thank goodness for that breeze ……

Our public transportation at this point in time is CRAZY.

Insane for us ….. I cannot compare to any other place.

Part of this is due to summer construction.

It is the only time of year that we can do all those outdoor road and sidewalk projects.

It definitely plays with the traffic flow.

One day the buses run relatively on time and the next day they are over 1/2 hour late.

Now when it is time to get home, it is hot and you have that Mr. Alvin waiting to go outside to PEE and to eat his supper ….. being late is not an option.

Although what can you do when you rely on the buses.

So last night I waited downtown for almost 1/2 hour.

Two buses stopped to say they were FULL …..

Finally the third one had room for us.

It would not have been so bad but I had to stop at the Vet for Alvin’s food and glucosamine chews.

Anyway got home safe and “sound.”

Happy that today is Friday …… another hot one …. even hotter than the last few days.

Special Hello to: my friend “M” who is visiting our fair city.

My friend Lea

I have a friend named Lea, who is six years old.

She lives a few doors down from me.

Lea was one of the first people who came over to meet me when I moved in two years ago.

Lea and her family are moving back to Quebec at the end of next week.

I shall miss my little friend.

She always brightens my day with her smile and beautiful laugh.

Her Mom has told me that somedays as soon as she gets in the door after school – she asks if she can go visit Carol.

I shall miss my little friend.

Yesterday afternoon Lea called and came over.

She helped me clean and tidy up the basement.

She is a huge help.

Lea is one of the nicest, smartest, funniest people I know.

She cares for her family, animals and her friends.

I have no doubt in my mind that she will go far in this world.

She has a true heart …. one of gold.

I shall truly miss that little girl.

Both Alvin and I shall miss Lea and her family.

They have become more than friends, they are part of my family.

My backyard will be quiet in the summertime, I shall miss that very much.

I will miss tea-time with Lea’s Mom Anick.

I will miss David’s soft way and all his cars, he is three.

I will miss Mahee-Lee’s giggles, she is four.

I will miss Peter, his soft spoken style, he Lea’s Dad.

Before I break into too many tears, I shall just say this …..

I LOVE YOU LEA and you will always be my friend.

Love you Anick, Peter, Lea, Mahee-Lee and David.

You are the best.

May life treat you kindly, and with respect.

May your days be filled with wonder and bliss.

I wish you much love & laughter, joy, perfect health and much abundance.

Take Care.

Save travels…..

You are always in my heart.

Love Always, Carol and Alvin….
