Second Half of the NEW YEAR – last quarter.

Good Morning ALL. How are you doing today? Well here we are at another Sunday. The 15th of November, 2020. One of my nephews celebrates a birthday today. Happy Birthday J, we wish you a great day. The sun sunrise is subtle today as it clears the darkness of the night sky. I can see those beautiful hues of oranges and pinks filling the horizon and perhaps the sun will shine today. We were outside a few minutes ago and it is a bit cooler than yesterday but still not too bad. Definitely not bitterly cold. How was your Saturday? Did you do what you planned to do? Do you care if you did not? Does it matter in the grand scheme of things? Well I strayed from my original plan and instead of cleaning bathrooms I cleaned out the corner cupboard in the kitchen and two of the vertical draws that house “tupperware and such” and “baking utensils and odds and ends.” When I get to a point where I cannot easily find something – it is time to clean and rearrange those spaces. It felt like the right time so I had a change of plans. A job still was tackled just not the ones that I had originally planned. The front entrance way closet got a cleaning and rearranging. The countertops needed some rearranging as well, so that was done. I also did laundry and wrote up Christmas cards for my coworkers. As I am going to the office tomorrow it is the only opportunity that I will have before Christmas to drop them off. I also did some rearranging in the basement as I was looking for some specific items but did not find them. The hunt continues. Next weekend or maybe one night this week. Alvin and I went for a walk about mid afternoon. On our way home we “bumped into” across the street one of our neighbours who was out for a walk. Her husband was back at home setting up the Christmas lights on timers. Their outside is gorgeous for the holidays as is the inside of their home. We visited outside for several minutes with each one and then both as Irene got home from her walk – we were still chatting with her husband. We always have such nice visits. I made a new dish for supper and it was yummy. Likely I should be writing down all of my inventions but that’s not how I roll. I just use what I have to make a meal and most times I am inventing something new to me but may be not new to others. Perhaps I should roll differently as often times people ask for recipes. Perhaps.

Well it is time to head to the shower as I have a coffee date with the girls this morning. I am so excited to see them. Just the three of us. Some coffee and muffins and GREAT CONVERSATION and LAUGHTER. Laughter after all, is the best medicine.

Mr. Alvin actually slept until almost 6:30 this morning but then again we went to bed later than usual. He did not eat all of his breakfast which he has been doing for the past couple of days or so. Alvin does not appear to be feeling ill other than his paws have been bothering him, thank goodness he has some pain meds. I will say he does gobble down all of his supper. Might be that he has a combo of wet and dry for supper and only dry for breakfast. I should perhaps try some wet with his breakfast. But some days I don’t want to eat much other either. I am wondering if I should go back to eating breakfast earlier in the morning? Not sure. I don’t know if I am noticing anything much different anymore or not. Perhaps it is always good to change things up a bit.

Well I should go.

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday. Maybe clean those bathroom if you did not do them yesterday like me (I am doing mine later). Have some fun not all work. If we continue to live with kindness and respect for all – we will be living a great life.

As Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S. I did so much “cleaning” and “rearranging” that I likely forgot to mention something ….. oh well!

Second Half of the NEW YEAR – last quarter

Good Morning All. The sky is that weird mix of grey and white. I woke up with runny, stuffy nose, bit of sore throat and sneezing. This was to be coffee morning with my friends but now we had to postpone until next weekend. Feels like the start of a cold but then again yesterday I was going through winter stuff in the basement and closets and likely just allergies from that but have to be careful. So we cancelled. I was really looking forward to seeing the girls but they both have children and I know this is the best decision. It used to be okay to be around someone who might have had a cold but not now. So I will remain indoors with Alvin. This will be a week where I stay away from people. Just to make sure. If anything changes I will go and get tested, don’t worry. I am a cautious person and would never put anyone in any kind of danger.

So I guess this will be a quiet day. Will finish up the last load of laundry and straighten out my clothes closet. I did most of it yesterday but will finish today. Maybe watch a movie this afternoon. Thank goodness that I have Mr. Alvin to keep me company.

Last night I facetimed with my sister from Saskatchewan. I miss her so much. We usually get together every summer and were not able to this year. Thank goodness for technology and I could see her beautiful face. Better than not.

Well I am filled with disappointment and might as well get this show on the road. What can you do? Coffee may help.

I hope that you have a great day.

Continuing to live with kindness and respect for all.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello, Oh it is a lovely morning here in Edmonton.

There was NO frost on the windshields this morning.

The sun is up and the sky is blue.

What a glorious day it is and will be.

Me and Alvin slept in as we were up early yesterday morning.

That is not to say that we were not up during the night and then around 5 a.m. for someone’s breakfast.

But we did not get up to stay up until a bit later …. just nice to lay about and dream and think …..

As you know Teddy spent Friday night yesterday with us.

We had a good day.

The boys played.

We went for a nice walk.

Crunching some leaves along the way.

I managed to get laundry and some cleaning done and one more thing but will show the photos.

Humphrey joined us in the late afternoon.

It was just me and the boys.

In some ways it is pretty sad that I am always at home on a Saturday night alone except for a minimum of one fur baby.

But on the other hand, I love being at home.

The trees are looking out from my front door.

I just loved the different colours of each tree, so pretty.

Halloween has arrived at my house.

One of my fav times of year.

The THREE AMIGOS just hanging out.

Alvin would not drop that chew treat.

It was a quiet day at the house.

We did have a knock at the door after supper.

It was the little boys from two doors down with their JENGA game.

I asked them if we could play tomorrow afternoon.

They are coming at 1:00 p.m.

A good weekend.

Well time to go and have a cup of coffee.

Wishing you all a Happy Sunday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

POEM FOR SUNDAY MORNING

Window open bird chirping singing a song.

For a mate?

To me or for the world?

Clouds rolling in and partially blocking the sun.

No breeze.

Just still.

Now only the clicking of the keyboard keys.

Alvin resting on his blue blanket.

We woke up to a beautiful sunny morning a bit ago.

The weather seems to be changing from minute to minute.

There is now movement in the trees a breeze is coming up.

As I strain to hear something more than my fingers touching the keys.

Alvin’s breathing is constant and easy.

Heard a sound perhaps a door closing.

Is the world begin to wake up; I do not know.

Yes, I hear noise.

There is movement.

My immediate world is waking up.

Slowly but surely …. on this Sunday morning.

The world, my world is coming alive.

A bird flies by in my line of vision.

I love these quiet moments.

In the distance I hear noise but cannot identify.

Time to go back downstairs.

Time for us to eat.

Time for us to get this day going.

Coffee and toast and blueberries.

Alvin his food and of course blueberries.

This is the start to my Sunday.

As the clouds roll in and envelope the morning sky.

You can see the darkness taking over …

Slowly not so much.

Will it rain?

Perhaps not.

Sunday morning.

CY Lewis, July 7, 2019

Just had to share.  I am in love with the sky.

Last night at sunset.

North side of the house,

South side of the house

So many different colours.

So beautiful.

The bird is singing a song once again.

Happy Sunday.

Time to get rolling ….

Always, Carol  & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 14th day of October, 2018

Darkness filled the air earlier this morning when we first arose.

Alvin always the early bird.

When we arose to start the day the sun shone brightly through light cloud cover.

The frost was hard as the grass crunched under my feet and appeared black to the naked eye.

The solar lights that are standing in a flower pot have a thick coating of frost upon them.

The Snapdragons are blooming remaining alive despite a coat of frost.

All things are covered with a covering of frost this morning.

With the sun shining the frost will melt.

The grass will return to green.

The Snapdragons will perk up with the heat of the sun.

The solar lights will shine in the sunlight

The frost will disappear from the rooftops and car windows.

Oh Sunday morning.

Time to get dressed and start the day.

Thank you Mother Nature for your beauty and charm.

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello to: my sister on this day.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 23rd day of July, 2018.

The sky is overcast with deep blue rain clouds.

You can see the odd patch of pale blue sky to the east.

Alvin is on his little blue blanket beside me as I write this post.

He asked for a massage this morning.

I think that it is funny/strange how this all started.

He just sat beside me and placed his paw up which is his way of “asking nice.”

He figured out how to ask me for my help.

One week from tomorrow the COMPANY arrives.

YAY, my sister is coming.

She will spend a few days with us before my niece-in-law and great nephews arrive for a couple of days.

Always great to have company.

Soon I shall be on vacation.

YAY, feels like forever since I have been on vacation.

Yesterday was a great day.

We did some chores around the house and was just making pancakes when the phone rang.

My daughter called to say that she was going to come over for a visit.

Perfection.

I love making pancakes for Sunday morning company.

They turned out to be some of the best ones yet.

My daughter and baby Milo (the little grand-pup) arrived just as I was finished making the pancakes (they were keeping warm in the oven) and cleaning up.

Always a good thing as then I could concentrate on our visit.

We had a good visit along with good food.

After breakfast/brunch I borrowed her car and went to the grocery store for a few items.

Alvin had some quality time with his big sis and baby Milo.

After they left for home we just had a quiet day.

It is nice to be able to take a deep breath and relax.

Close your eyes.

Think of something or someone wonderful OR perhaps quiet your mind and think of nothing at all.

That was the beginning of our afternoon.

Eyes closed.

Then a clink clink clink ….

Eyes opened.

Raindrops hitting the windows.

Each second the rain came down harder and harder.

Lasting only a few minutes.

Glorious sunshine arrived.

Rainbow in the sky.

Eyes closed.

Deep breath.

Thank you.

Have a wonderful Monday.

Take time for yourself.

Be kind to yourself and to all others whether two-legged or four, winged or crawling.

All life is precious.

Happy Monday.

Special Hello to: THE WORLD

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 15th day of June of 2014.

WOW …. we are at the halfway point.

So excited I got so much accomplished this weekend between yesterday and this morning.

I am now enjoying a cup of coffee and writing (two of my favourite things).

It feels to so good to get things done before I go to work.

Alvin and I enjoyed a fantastic walk by our lake and on the way home bumped into one of my neighbours out working in her garden.

She has the most gorgeous garden and lawn …. so beautiful.

We had a great visit and then home ……

Mr. Alvin is pooped …… nothing like exercise to start your day.

I work at the store as per usual and it is the end of the first week of Semi-Annual Sale.

Lots of people looking for bargains.

So always interesting.

There is the most glorious cool breeze blowing this morning making walking and being outside …. heavenly.

I feel so energized and I am sure that the walk had everything to do with it.

Well on this glorious Sunday morning I hope this finds you energized and happy.

I am happy …. it was the best weekend.

Special Hello to:  YOU.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 25th day of May, 2014.

Holy Crow is it really May 25th.

Well you know what this means?

Summer if officially right around the corner.

YAY ……

Time to dust off your surf boards,

Make sure your shorts and tank tops are washed.

Put air in your bike tires.

Air out your tent.

VACATION TIME.

Do you have big plans for this summer?

Are you going to the beach?

Are you going camping?

Are you going to visit your family and friends?

It is the time of year that we all look forward to ….. almost as much or perhaps even more than Christmas.

That would be a close call for me.

For me, I have washed my shorts and tops (no longer wear tank tops alone ….. okay sometimes).

I opened the garage doors at both ends ( just in case we want to have a garage sale, it smells nice and fresh).

I bought new shoes ….. Skechers – Go WALKS …. they are sprayed as advised by the store clerk and READY TO WALK.

So excited to wear the new shoes today ….. first pair of shoes in a few years…… YAY.

I am doing more deep breath exercises to build my lung capacity (sounds good).

So on this Sunday morning as I prepare to go to work at the STORE …. it is overcast but warm outside.

I hope that you have a perfect Sunday and that you are enjoying preparing for summer and vacation.

Even if you stay at home you can still enjoy your vacation.

Special Hello to:  my sister ….. ran out of time to SKYPE but maybe we can touch base tonight after I get home from work.  P.S. I did call our brother “J” ….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday, the 18th day of August 2013.

WOW, what a gorgeous day.

Last night my neighbour treated me to supper and a movie for looking after her cat when she goes away.

It was so nice to go out for supper and a movie.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

We say the movie “Elysium” (not sure if that is the correct spelling).

It was a good movie …. a few gory scenes that I like but the story line was pretty good.

Another solid performance by Matt Damon and Jodie Foster.

I am always in awe of those folks who make movies ….. the imagination and creativity.

Well I am drinking my morning coffee and then it will be off to work.

I love working at Bath & Body Works.

The staff are great and I get to meet people from all over the world.

Well time to get going here.

I hope that you all have a great Sunday and that you are blessed to be surrounded by people who are appreciative and do not take you for granted.

It also works in reverse ….. never take anyone or anything for granted.

Always be grateful…..

Special Hello to: all those fantastic neighbours out there ….. thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

This is a beautiful Sunday morning.

I just had a relaxing bath …… along with some meditation.

AH, nothing like that combination.

If you have time or perhaps make some time and crawl into a nice warm bath.

Great way to start the day.

Meditation is good for the body, mind and soul.

So take a few minutes on this beautiful Sunday for yourself.

Always remember to start with you.

If you are feeling good – then all of your life will just fall into place.

Have a great Sunday, my fellow Earth inhabitants.

Always, Carol

Time for a cup of coffee ……… mmmmm
