2021

Good Morning All! Well I did not think that while Alvin was recovering from torn ligament knee surgery would he pull muscles in neck and have yeast infection in his ears. Of course, this never ending saga does not end here. Yesterday we were almost home from our walk when we saw friends coming toward us. Alvin was happy to see Jack and I was happy to see his Mom. Jack is a little guy. The boys said a brief hello followed by Alvin rolling in a neighbour’s grass. We ended up coming to my house as Jack had to poop. To my house and out to the backyard. Jack didn’t poop. We chatted for a minute and his Mom said they should go as Jack had gas. Never know where that may go. Alvin had jumped onto the grass and I helped him onto the deck. In the house, I offered my friend one of the cookies I had baked the night before, she loved it so I asked if she would like to take some home and she said yes. While I was packing up some cookies she said Alvin is limping asking which leg was his surgery? Well, of course it was on the opposite one. Not his leg but his paw. He cried when I touched it. Very gingerly, I felt to see if any thorns or anything sharp wedged in his paw, nothing. Our friends had to go but my daughter was coming. She stopped in briefly on way to Dentist before our walk and would be coming shortly

We just waited for her to arrive and I massaged his paw. When Amanda arrived he was clearly still in pain. After a visit with our girl and some TLC for Alvin she had to go home as she now has about 45 minute drive to her new home. We had a quiet evening. He managed to rest for awhile giving me an opportunity to do dishes and some small chores.

Our sleep was the most broken since his surgery. He is not limping this morning. I did find a small black piece of something hard on the floor after stepping on it. Was that the culprit? No idea.

Well time to go to work.

I hope life is treating you well and that you are getting some sleep. My poor boy – never would have thought he would be jn this situation.

Have a great day.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, understanding, love and gratitude and laughter.

Always, Carol&Alvin

Second Half of the NEW YEAR – last quarter.

Good Morning ALL. What a beautiful morning it is outside. A great day is its’ way to us all. Are you ready? Close your eyes and imagine you being over the moon happy. Maybe it is talking with a family member that you have not been able to see during this pandemic. Maybe you are finally able to do something that you never have done before! OR maybe you found the most perfect gift for your sister and you have mailed it to her for Christmas. Perhaps you sent Christmas cards to a bunch of family and friends and you received your first card in the mail and it is from a friend not on your current mailing list but someone who missed you and wanted to reconnect. There are so many things that can make us happy. I am happy when I am living in a state of gratitude. I would say that I am happy more than not. Perhaps possibly yourself, a family member or friend was recently in contact with that dreadful virus and was tested and are waiting for the results – the text arrives – negative. Happiness ensues. Maybe a friend brought some unexpected treats to your door. Maybe you just woke up today. I hope that you are happy without having to actually imagine it. But if you are living in fear, doubt, sadness or the like …. then close your eyes, imagine it. Imagine that feeling of joy. Maybe it is time to grab a piece of cardboard and make a vision board. Glue or tape on some pictures of things that you would like, something that would help you in the happiness field. I want you to be happy. I would like us all to be happy, to be joyful. That does not mean that life is going to be a constant bowl filled with cherries but it does mean that if you are living your life in a state of joy and gratitude that when something to the contrary occurs, you are much better equipped to handle it. Now I am not a doctor of anything but I am 63 years old and have learned a few things over the years. What can it hurt? Try making a list of what you are grateful for? A good place to start.

Yesterday afternoon Mr. Alvin and I went for a visit to his best friend’s house. Yes, we took precautions. Teddy’s Mom does “Energy Healing” and last time she worked on Alvin but this time out of the blue she asked if she could massage my feet. An odd request. She mentioned that she missed giving her sister a foot massage. I cannot remember the last time I had my feet massaged so after some tea and treats, I had what started out to be foot massage. She told me that I am not drinking enough water and could tell by pressing on my legs that I was not. I learned a few things. About how important keeping your lymphatic system moving is. She told me that my core needed some work. Both things that I knew but when coming from someone else gave me a kickstart. I started drinking water as soon as I got back home. I am going to start ensuring that I drink 8 glasses of water each day. She showed me some exercises to get things moving. The results of not keeping the lymphatic system unblocked are not good. So let us remember to drink lots of water and not coffee like I have. Working from home …. we are sitting more than ever now. Get up and move about. Shake your legs and arms. Move it!

Well I have to go as it is almost time to start work. I have been moving about this morning and drank 2 glasses of water already. I am going to get my system going so it does not clog up.

Living my life with kindness and respect for all.

Have an awesome Monday.

Always,Carol & Alvin

Second Half of the NEW YEAR.

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday, September 20th, 2020.

Two more days till officially FALL.

The smoke from down south fills our skies this morning.

There is rain in the forecast with the potential to clear the smoke and possibly to help with fires in Oregon.

At the moment I am loading some photos from my phone to the computer so that I am able to share them with you.

I am not sure why I also end up loading ones that loaded before …… makes no sense to me.

I will have to ask my “technical support.”

Earlier I was texting with my brother who was on his way to do some farming helping out friends and neighbours.

Mentioned that they were moving equipment this morning but have been combining the past few days.

Also skies are smoky and no rain.

Fingers crossed that the farms are able to get what they need done without any moisture.

Such a time sensitive period of the year ….. harvest crops.

Wishing them time to bring in the crops.

Yesterday we had company.

My daughter who was supposed to come in the afternoon was able to come in the morning.

We had a text from Alvin’s BF Teddy’s Mom who wondered if he could come for a visit.

I texted her back and set up a playdate for 2:30 …… which extended to include Teddy’s little sister Kobi.

Amanda came about 11:30 just as I was finishing up with the LIVE on Facebook Fifth Avenue Show.

She had picked up a few things from the grocery store and bought me a surprise “potted plant” and also gave me some crafting paper.

Lucky me.

The plant matched the one that my friend Pauline gave me for my birthday.

I do not know what kind of plant they are …..

We had such a great visit …… laughing and catching up.

I love having my daughter come to visit.

Perfect touch to the weekend.

Not long after she left …. Teddy and Kobi arrived.

Their Mom was going grocery shopping and asked if I needed anything.

“No” I replied as I already got the few things on my list.

The pups ran around the house …..literally bouncing off of each other and me.

They were so happy to see us.

Kobi has not been over for awhile.

It was good to see her.

Of course, Teddy as well.

When Iris came back she had bought me the same plant that Amanda had given me earlier except this one is pink along with a box of tulip bulbs.

How blessed am I?

Very.

Well after a considerable amount of time I have been unsuccessful in downloading the photos from yesterday from my phone to the computer.

I am definitely not tech savvy.

So as I would like to go for a walk.

I will try this again later and perhaps post them tomorrow.

ARGH, ARGH and more ARGH, I say.

Disappointed to say the least.

Not sure why sometimes things go off without a hitch and the next time, not without a hiccup.

Wishing you the best Sunday.

Filled with love and laughter.

Maybe you are spending the day finishing that book that you just cannot put down.

Maybe you are on your way out the door to go for a nice long walk with your dog.

Maybe you are spending the day baking some cookies and a banana loaf or three.

Maybe you are doing laundry.

Maybe you are going to spend the day watching movies on NETFLIX by yourself or with family or friend(s).

Maybe you are going to paint a picture or take some photos.

Maybe you are going to clean your closets.

Maybe just maybe you will do something that brings a smile to your face and joy to your heart.

Just maybe …. just maybe.

Speaking of NETFLIX, I started to watch this series with Hilary Swank and Josh Charles about first mission to MARS.

I don’t remember the name but it was really good.

So good, that I watched several episodes and did not go to bed until 11:30 p.m.

Best day.

Living with kindness and respect.

I will learn this technology soon ….. time for some more lessons, methinks.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 31st day of July, 2018.

Alvin and I had a wonderful walk this morning.

Not a soul was out and about.

A few houses along the way had their lights on at 5:00 a.m., so we were not the only ones up and about.

Now just putting the finishing touches on getting ready for work.

I have the office window open and not quite sure what the neighbour was doing but it was loud.

He had taken out their trash and turned on the car.

I think he is putting air in the tires.

It is loud.

at 6:15 a.m.

Well today is the day.

The company arrives tonight.

The fun begins.

So excited to have a visit with everyone and some time with my sister.

I miss not seeing her on a regular basis (we lived in the same city and worked for the same company at one point before I moved to Edmonton).

The neighbour…

He just back out of his driveway and it sounds like he has some brake issues.

Just an observation.

Back to the company.

Tonight.

Not sure what will happen tomorrow with Alvin and everyone.

He will certainly wonder why I am leaving him with a house full of people.

I know that my sister will keep an eye on him for me.

Well life is full of surprises.

Like last night when the sky would cloud up and I was sure that it would rain.

Then the sun would shine.

No rain.

This morning there are some rain clouds in the sky.

Just felt a cool breeze wafting in through the open office window.

Feels so refreshing as it washes over my face.

I did not water flowers last night because I was certain it was going to rain.

Now the temperature seems cooler all of a sudden so perhaps we will get a shower this morning.

The sun is rising in the east and I can see the beams bouncing off of a neighbour’s house.

Thank you to everyone who read my poem yesterday.

I love to write and definitely should do more ….

Perhaps I will be inspired over the next week or so.

Family, vacation, Family …. did I say vacation.

YES.

Have an awesome day.

Tuesday it is and Tuesday it shall be.

Be kind.

Be generous.

Be wise.

Be gentle.

Be you.

Special Hello to: my sister ….. not long now.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 13th day of October, 2016.

Seems like night when I look out the window and see nothing but darkness.

Oh, I guess I can see the reflection of someone’s tail lights as they are “warming” up the truck.

Yesterday was so nice.

Alvin and I enjoyed our walk so much.

I recently found out that all of the fountains in our neighbour are still on and going strong.

We still have a bit of snow remaining on people’s lawns and rooftops.

Back to last night.

Got home from work, Alvin did his routine, I got changed and we went for a walk.

Dropped off a container at my friend’s house.

Came home returned a phone call and made another one.

Submitted a tea party on the computer and was just emailing a friend when the doorbell rang.

It was my friend “P” who has the most beautiful English garden.

Always thinking of Mr. Alvin – she had a couple of treats with her for him.

She is travelling with her husband next week back to England to see her family and was wondering if I had some jewellery.

It was so off guard ….. but I had some pieces for sale.

She purchased several necklaces and a couple of rings.

We had a nice visit while she was trying on necklaces.

After she left I had supper which was about 7:30 p.m. ( my baked potato was well done ).

Crazy busy night but full of great surprises.

I am very grateful for surprises.

So they are forecasting snow flurries for this afternoon.

I hope that Mother Nature finds it in her heart to keep those flurries down to a minimum.

We can only hope.

Much too early for winter …..

It would be nice for the weather to be good for Halloween.

Well almost time to get this trolley on the road.

Now I am referring to myself as a trolley …. okay truly am getting old.

Yikes.

I hope that you all have an awesome day chalked full of wonderful surprises.

Thank you Universe for sweet surprises.

Special Hello to: my sister …. soon, very soon.  Perhaps Sunday??

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 27th day of October, 2015.

We had rain yesterday and through the evening …..

Seems to have stopped now but sure is windy out there.

I think I will have to put up my hood when I go outside ….. ears exposed because today is put back hair day ……

On Saturday while at the Vet’s, I purchased a bag of chew treats for Mr. Alvin.

When we got home I gave him one.

He has taken that “chewie” all over the house and outside since Saturday.

Hiding it and then bringing it with him.

Growling at me when I moved it …………. so cute.

I was beginning to think that he was not going to actually eat it.

Well guess what?

Last night when we went to bed …. 9:00 p.m.

CHEW CHEW CHEW CHEW ……

two hours later ……

ZZZZZZ ZZZZZZ ZZZZZZ ZZZZZZ

Oh my boy …. full of surprises.

Likely not good to have a snack right as you are about to go to sleep but just this once …… I guess is okay.

My day went well at the office ….. round two today and round three tomorrow.

I had nothing to be nervous about …..

Just be prepared and things usually work out.

Well time to get bundled up and head for the bus.

Have a great Tuesday.

Live your life ……

Try something new.

Special Hello to:  Hello baby sister …. miss you ….

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 3rd day of April, 2014.

It is a glorious day.

Surprise overnight visit from my nephew “T” ….

I, we always love when he comes to visit.

Elton and Penny spent the day with Alvin ….. so that is always nice for Al to have company.

Today is payday …. another good thing about today.

Temperatures seem to be warming up.

The ground is still relatively bare …. so that is something to be grateful for …..

So how are you with surprises …

Do surprises come your way often?

Do you shriek with joy when something awesome happens?

Do you shyly smile when something great comes your way?

Do you burst into tears when things do not go your way?

How do you feel?

Shocked perhaps.

I think it would be nice to have a “great surprise” come your way today.

Perhaps someone would deliver a bouquet of flowers to you at your work.

Perhaps a total stranger would compliment on your new outfit or your hair?

Perhaps someone would buy you your most favourite cup of coffee for no reason at all.

On the other hand ….

You could send someone flowers – wouldn’t that be a lovely surprise!

You could pay a total stranger a wonderful compliment – just because you can.

You could purchase a cup or coffee for your significant other or a co-worker or just the person behind you in the coffee line.

Remember it always starts with each of us ….. you …. me…..

Have a great Thursday …… I know that I will.

Special Hello to: my family who lives everywhere ……

Always, Carol and Alvin
