Second Half of the YEAR

Good Morning and Welcome to a raining Saturday morning here in Edmonton.

Just a couple of minutes ago Alvin and I were standing outside on the deck in the rain.

It was lightly raining and actually it was kind of nice.

Refreshing and calming.

Now since we came upstairs to really get this day going – it has started to really come down.

So luckily we are in the house and not soaked.

To the east I could see clear sky and now it is grey.

Perhaps this is going to be a raining kind of day.

That is the day that makes me feel lazy.

At least at the start.

I am so grateful that last night – Alvin and I were outside doing yard work.

I mowed the grass, pulled weeds, swept out the garage and some other miscellaneous tasks.

Well this will be a great day to do laundry, some cleaning and some writing.

Yes, writing.

I have finally started the first book.

I believe that I may have mentioned that fact.

If we continue to talk about something it helps us to continue to bring it to fruition.

I have the outline in my head of the first chapter and will write that this weekend.

Starting today.

Perfect time when it is raining to do things in the house.

How are you doing today?

Is it raining where you are?

Do you have something that you have been wanting to get done for a long time?

No worries, procrastination seems to be a human condition.

We all procrastinate from time to time.

For a multitude of different reasons.

Sometimes we are fearful.

Fearful that we don’t know enough to do the task.

Fearful that we are not good enough.

Fearful that it won’t be great.

Fear often times stops from doing so many things.

Why is that?

We see some people who appear to be “floating” through life.

They have an idea let’s say for a book.

Then the book becomes a bestseller, it is well written and they make lots of money and become famous.

I would say that no one floats or has it easy.

Not really.

Even though there is the appearance that things have come easy for them – that is likely not the truth.

Looking from the outside – can give a false view of the actual story.

Things may not be as they seem.

We have to stop making judgments without knowing the whole story.

I make judgments, we all do.

You know that even those folks that are born with the “silver spoon in their mouth” do not necessarily have it really easy.

Having it easy can also mean different things to different people, as well.

All food for thought.

We throughout our lives all put things off.

Could be a time factor.

Maybe you are a single mother with children.

There are not enough hours in the day.

Not enough hours to work, keep the house and look after the children.

Not enough hours to do what needs to be done much less do something for yourself.

But I am here to say that we are wrong.

There is time if we make time.

We just have to do things.

Let go of the fear.

I am not saying that it is easy.

But we must.

Do things when you have the opportunity.

When you get an idea to do something that makes you happy – go for it.

Not saying that it will be easy or that things happen overnight.

But at least starting and working on it everyday or as often as possible …. will bring it to see the light of day.

So whether you want to make jewelry, write a book, start your own business or whatever your dreams or ideas may be …. just go for it.

Life is so much better when we do.

I hope that maybe this post will help inspire someone out there or give someone out there the thought that anything is possible.

There is hope.

You can do whatever you dream of doing ….. all you have to do is start.

Give up the fear.

Write down your ideas.

Research.

Do the work.

It will happen.

Not likely overnight but with time and work, it will come to be.

Well I know that my partially stripped bed is not going to get done unless I get back into the bedroom and do it.

So I am going to get the bed made, get dressed, start the laundry, make some coffee and have breakfast.

Do some cleaning and then this afternoon I am going to write.

Also it may be a good idea to set aside some time to do whatever it is you have an idea for …. put it on your calendar.

By writing things down …. it helps.

Make a list of your ideas and as they are completed, cross them off the list.

Together we will forge ahead and make our dreams come true.

We can do it.

I know that in my heart.

Okay, time to do.

Alvin is beginning to get restless.

He knows what needs to be done.

Often times before I do.

Be kind and respectful of yourself and of all others.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & her Alvin.

This KISS, this KISS (please stop, Mom you are embarrassing me!!)

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 7th day of July, 2015.

The sky has been mostly overcast until this point at just after 6:00 a.m. when the sun is breaking through.

That is the view from my office window which faces southward.

Now the sun almost casts a glow over the houses as the trees sway in the morning breeze.

I am so grateful to live in such a great place.

I am grateful to have my own home.

I am grateful to have such a great guy as a companion, Mr. Alvin.

The best four-legged friend this Momma could ever ask for …… mmmm

Last night before Alvin and I went for our walk we had a couple of errands to do in our neighbourhood.

Dropping stuff off.

After completing our task we proceeded on our nightly walk.

The air was perfect.

Not too hot.

Not too cool.

Just the right amount of a breeze.

We bumped into Mr. Alvin’s girl friend’s Moms (they are sisters who live down the street from us).

Mr. Alvin loves his Abby ….. unfortunately she had gone for an earlier walk and the girls were out for a run.

We chatted and caught up and then we all went our separate ways.

Running is not for me.

I love to walk ….. not run.

I like to stop and smell the roses.

Just before we arrived home we saw our friends who have the most gorgeous yard.

The grass is now the most lush that I have ever seen it to be.

Just the right amount of TLC ….. oh my goodness so green … the perfect shade.

They have beautiful flowers …. a rock garden …. hedges ….. roses ….. just spectacular.

Nicest people and Mr. Alvin loves them.

Funny thing the girls caught up to us ….. LOL….. we were visiting again.

Well it was the best evening.

We have a great many of them and I am truly grateful.

Now if I could only persuade Mr. Alvin to use the new sofa ottoman to get onto and off of the bed.

Still isn’t using it all of the time…..

Stubborn boy …. not good with change.

Well time to put on the finishing touches before going to catch the bus.

Oh and my sister called me last night.

Didn’t I say it was the most perfect evening.

Could not ask for more…… family, friends …..

Special Hello to: my sister …. thank you for your call.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 3rd day of December, 2014.

Another day closer to Christmas.

I am so excited to do some Christmas baking this Saturday.

The plan is to make sugar cookies, macaroons and fudge.

Those are the main ones and if something else sneaks in there that would be fine as well.

I love to bake.

I am going to try and be a bit fancy decorating the sugar cookies this year.

Will have to figure something out …. no ideas at the moment …. just know that I want to make them different and pretty.

I hope that you have your list made and that you are zipping along with each task on it.

Just take one day at a time.

That is what I try to do.

If you look at the number of days left you might just feel overwhelmed.

Also even if you do happen to run out of time …… Christmas always turns out.

It is more the feelings that you have and are surrounded by than actual physical things.

More than a feeling …….

Well almost time to go to work.

Today I work at the office and then tonight at the store.

I love helping people find just the right gift.

Thanks again for reading my blog.

Have a fantastic day.

Oh, by the way I went to have my eyes checked yesterday afternoon and they are actually better distance wise and a bit less so close up.

No surprise.

I ordered some new specs and sunglasses and then there will be a new me.

It is like dressing up in a costume …. I always feel like a new person when I get new glasses.

The same applies to hair cuts.

Which reminds me …. almost time for me to trim my hair.

Yes, I cut my own hair.

Just basic but it works.

Happy Wednesday.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Special Hello to: anyone with a Birthday this month ….. Happy Birthday …..

Thought for the day….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 18th day of November, 2014.

WOW …… Christmas is sneaking up on us ……

“37” days until it arrives.

Well I still have to write my Christmas letter and order photos to add to the Christmas Cards.

I cut back on the amount of baking that I do ….. after all we really only need a bit …. right?

Last night Alvin and I went for a walk with my daughter and grand-puppies …. it was so beautiful ….. minus 4 degrees celsius.

Great temperatures for mid November.

I love walking as the sun sets and the streets lights flicker as they come on.

So nice ……

Our house guest “Casey” went home last night ….

I shall miss the little guy.

So cute.

I am reminded by a certain events that I must keep my positive feelings and thoughts flowing and as of late …. they have been crowded out by negative ones.

Somedays it is not an easy task but we must keep trying…..

Life is meant to be good and true.

Full of fun and laughter ……. most of the time anyway…..

I hope that you have an awesome day …..

I am going to fill it with good feelings and thoughts……

Let us send the good stuff all over the world.

Thank you for reading my blog….

Special Hello to: all those people who are having a less than stellar day …… take a deep breath, close your eyes and smile.  It helps.  Think of puppies and babies …… anything to bring goodness and laughter to your heart …. it will melt away the bad stuff…

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to a Windy Sunny Saturday the 21st day of June, 2014 and the FIRST DAY OF SUMMER.

Today will be the longest day of the year.

I am going to make sure that Alvin and I take a long late walk tonight.

Today I have two major tasks to complete.

One is laundry (it is an easy one).

The other is going through the office and deciding what to keep and what to store in the basement.

It is so easy to collect things without even noticing.

Usually once a year I go through all of the “paper” and am brutal about what stays and what goes.

I grab the recycling bin (that I have on my basement landing) and bring it upstairs, also a cup of coffee, crank up the music on my computer, and away I go.

The time goes fast but usually at the end I have done what I set out to do.

This time is a bit different.

My kids are moving in with me near the end of July while they have their new house built.

Their house sold about a week ago.

So I want to make sure that I only keep what I need.

Man, this is great because it forces me to be conscious of what I really, really need.

Sometimes the bigger plan can be the bigger plan.

Anyway, time to go and put on the first load of laundry, grab the recycling bin and a cup of COFFEE.

I look forward to going through things…… sometimes you find little things that you forgot about ….. mmmmm

So have an awesome first day of summer …… make sure that you take your body outdoors and enjoy this day.

Happy First Day of Summer….

Special Hello: to my dear Sister …. sorry that it is has been crazy busy here …. we will SKYPE soon.

Always, Carol and Alvin
