Second Half of the NEW YEAR – last quarter

Good Morning All. What a morning already. Earlier was raining on top of freshly fallen snow making it absolutely perfect should I want to be making a snowman or snowballs but very heavy for shovelling. We already have more snow than we have had in other winters. Alvin was hesitant about going down the steps from the deck to the grassy area which I keep partially shovelled for him. He must have made three separate attempts before just taking the plunge. I am worried about him jumping as he is no longer a pup. But he seems to be cautious in his manoeuvring. But I still worry.

Well today is Tuesday, November 10, 2020. Today would have been my middle brother’s birthday. He would have been 57. He passed over ten years ago now. I miss him everyday. Happy Birthday Brother and I hope you are having fun with the angels.

I received a message from Teddy’s Mom asking if the pups could spend Friday with us as they are going to attempt to get out to the farm. Last weekend it was storming when they were supposed to travel. That is one thing about winter ….. you sometimes have to change plans due to weather.

Oh, I forgot to share my egg story quickly before I run out to shovel before starting work. On Sunday I made pancakes for breakfast and was down to only a handful of eggs. I have not had eggs for a bit. I cracked one for the eggs and it did not look great so I tried another and found a good one. So I had pancakes. Later in the day I decided to make scones. The recipe called for two eggs. I had three in the fridge. I cracked one and it had some dark stuff in the yolk, so I threw it away. I cracked a second one and it did not look good so I threw it away. Then I cracked the third one and OH MY GOD, the smell. It was a wicked horrible colour of black and grey and something else. But the worse of all was the smell. I quickly placed it all in the garbage and then threw out the garbage. I believe this may have been the first time in all my years of cooking that I have cracked open a rotten egg. It was not pleasant to say the least. Absolutely disgusting. Poor Alvin just looked like “what is going on?” So by that time I already had the butter in the scone mix so I googled recipes without eggs and found that they were not necessary. So I made them without. I added the pomegranate that Iris, Teddy’s Mom had brought with her for a treat for me when they (Iris and Kobie) visited earlier Sunday afternoon. By the way, the scones are delicious. Perfect consistency.

Okay, I have to fly.

Wishing you all a great Tuesday. Please laugh with someone. If you are by yourself watch a funny show. Laughter, we all need it right now.

Continuing to live with kindness and respect for all life.

As Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Good Morning All,

Well no bright sun shine this morning.

More cloud cover than sun.

But no moisture so that is a good thing.

What a Saturday we had …

Started off by the house phone ringing while I was upstairs writing my blog post …

Then checked mobile phone to find out that my neighbour was wondering if Humphrey could spend the day with us from 9-6 p.m.

Of course, yes.

We had a busy day.

Doing laundry, cleaning and changing things about in the kitchen.

Moving a plant upstairs as the kitchen just seemed dark with all three plants in the window and all of the Christmas decorations.

We were in and outside.

In the afternoon we were surprised by Teddy, his Mom and little sister dropping by.

She had sent a message via messenger but I was so busy I did not see it.

She was needing a break from the house with the new puppy, Teddy’s new sister and was wondering if they could stop in.

So both Humphrey and Alvin got to meet baby Kobi.

Oh my goodness is Kobi ever cute.

I made sure to snap some photos.

We had some tea and then Kobi had to go to the bathroom as determined by her Mom.

I did not know the sign.

We ended up drinking our tea on the deck in our jackets.

It was so warm and nice outside, most enjoyable.

When it was time to leave, Teddy’s Mom asked if we could walk Teddy home on our walk.

Of course, I said.

A little while later I harnessed the boys up except for Humphrey and went for a walk.

It was icy in spots but the temperature was warm.

When we got to Teddy’s house we rang the doorbell and met his Mom at the garage.

Reason being is that “Kobi’s Condo” is the front entranceway.

It is a good space with no carpet for her to hang out.

They have it all set up.

Teddy’s Aunt was celebrating her 65th birthday so his parents were going out for supper a bit later.

His Mom asked if it would be okay for Teddy to come home with us and in the next moment he was going to spend the night.

The baby would be okay in her condo.

Teddy is downstairs at this moment barking at something going by and now Alvin.

I guess I will check again.

I checked a few minutes ago and there was nothing.

Anyway.

Well our weekend was full of pleasant surprises.

All sorts of company.

Would you like to see the new addition to the family?

She is our family, too.

You may have notice the little pink harness and a diaper.

Kobi’s Mom fixed up this diaper so that she doesn’t have an accident when she is outside of her Condo.

So cute.

I hope that you enjoy the photos.

She is just so sweet.

So little.

We including me had to be careful not to step on her.

Alvin did run her over accidentally once.

It has been awhile since we have had a puppy in the house.

I guess since Milo.

Well I should get going.

If I want to have the coffee drank before lunch time.

The backyard looks so bare without flowers and furniture.

Happy Sunday.

I wish you the best day.

Always, Carol & Alvin
