Last Half 2022

Good Morning ALL! Thinking that I would change the category name this morning. Definitely no longer a new YEAR. I hope this finds you well. We had some excited already this morning. We went to bed close to 10 and were up at 4:15, so not too bad. Although I can always sleep given the opportunity. By the time that we were up and downstairs and what not, and went outside, it was closer to 4:45 so I gave Mr. Alvin his breakfast. Then after all was done including giving him the second last Tramadol (pain pill) as he was licking his paws and shaking his head. Not good signs. He seems to be okay now. Will have to watch him. I noticed another little piece of fur that must have been wedged in the bottom of his paws had broken free, likely when he was madly licking them. This would have been from his hair cut. I spent a lot of time looking over his paws and pulling out any pieces that had been trapped but it is hard to see, so I may have missed some. Another job which is difficult on your own with a dog that does not like his paws or ears touched. Just more fun in my day to day. Anyway, we went back to the sofa and he did settle down however he decided he would lay across the chaise part of the sofa so I had to move the pillow and lie down on the other part, which is small and I have to bend my legs but I was happy to do it, if it meant he would sleep. Trust me. You would, too. I was dozing off and on when he woke up, I checked my phone for the time and it as 7:48, definitely time to get up and going. I grabbed my sweater as he wanted to go outside and I was in my pj’s. Put on some footwear and grabbed some pooping bags just in case. Poor Alvin has had some diarrhea over the past couple of days but this morning it was almost back to normal. I had given him a bit of banana on Friday, I think. So NO MORE HUMAN FOOD except the pumpkin. Last night for his supper I did not give him pumpkin, now that I think about it. His poop this morning was almost back to what it should be. Maybe I need to cut that out and see? Anyway, time to get this day going.

By the way, I did try several times earlier to download/upload those photos. Something is definitely wrong with the technology as several blank videos showed up on my computer. Three miscellaneous photos. I give up. Thankfully my daughter said she will come by at some point and take a look. Unfortunately not just anyone can look as I have APPLE products and you need to know how they work as they are quite different from others. Anyway, they are having company this weekend so perhaps one night after work this week. I also thought that this was a short week but that was last week, lol.

One way or another I will get those photos to you. You must see her garden. I wished that I was tech savvy.

Yesterday after our very late start, it was raining so we had a quiet morning. I did finish the laundry and later in the afternoon we went for a walk. We were just a few doors away from home, when I thought I heard someone call out my name and sure enough I turned about and saw our friend Joanna out on her porch. So we walked back and stopped for a porch visit. We chatted for several minutes and then were on our way. We made it just inside the park and then he wanted to go home, so we did.

Last night was quiet. The sun came out which was lovely. The sun is out now.

Just after we got up to stay up. We went outside. I thought that perhaps he had to go pee so I had grabbed my sweater to cover, yes my pj’s and headed outside. He walked around the deck for a bit while I went and sat on the edge of the deck that goes down to the grass. I listened and watched this huge crow cawing away and then land on the neighbour’s chimney. He was huge. He sat there for a few minutes making some noise in response to another crow in the distance. After I turned my head to see what Alvin was doing – I noticed that he was looking up. Turning my head in the direction that he was looking, I noticed this big black and white cat perched on the roof of our neighbours garage. Alvin and the cat had a quite intense staring match going on. I got up to see if Alvin would come down and looked back to the garage and the cat was gone. We were both up on the deck and then Alvin made a beeline for the fence on the other side of the deck. Then it was that I saw the cat looking down from the top of the fence. Alvin started to bark and jumped up onto the upper part of our deck and I could not stop him so I quickly followed. He kept barking and the cat was swishing its’ tail back and forth, looking very scary and I was thinking it may jump so I quickly went into the garage and grabbed a broom. I gently placed the broom between Alvin and the cat and moved Alvin away. Finally with the aid of the broom I was able to coral him down the steps and onto the other deck and then into the house. Then I turned and the cat was gone. Alvin likes cats so I was surprised when he barked. Anyway that was our excitement for the morning.

Okay story time over and time to head downstairs and get some coffee brewed. It was so lovely on the deck earlier basking temporarily in the sunshine that I think I may go out again with coffee this time.

Have a great Sunday.

You never know in this house – there be cats – there be good poop or bad – technology issues – sun or rain ……..

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and definitely coffee at this moment.

Always, Carol & Alvin

PS: now 37 days until my 65th Birthday. Thank goodness my birthday is in early August or the summer would be gone, lol.

2021

Good Morning ALL. How are you this morning? It is bright and sunny and still a bit on the cold side but far from the frigid temperatures of days gone by. I am happy that it is the weekend. Wondering why my font seems to have changed and I did not change it. Gotta love technology. I am also working on downloading/uploading photos from phone to computer, which it appears that I have successful completed. Now to add some to this post. For some reason as of late, this process has changed somewhat. Here goes!

I am not quite certain why the photos did not go to my gallery when I downloaded them but here a few recent photos and items that I saved to my phone.

The food photos are some of the recent meals that I have ordered from CHEF’s Plate.

I have also been saving quotes from THE SECRET that are posted on social media. A good reminder.

My geraniums are once again blooming. Nothing like having some pink flowers show up in time for Valentine’s Day. The Poinsettia is so pretty as it is beginning to turn red.

A photo of Mr. Alvin snuggled with one of his toys as I work.

The last photos were taken this morning in my office as the sun shone through the window ……. so beautiful.

I wish you a bright happy Saturday. I hope that some flowers arrive for you this weekend to brighten your day. This is also a long weekend for me which makes me happy. I love spending time doing my own thing. Sometimes that thing is laundry. Yup that is high on the list. When I arrive downstairs again, coffee will be the first task to be done. My daughter said she will come for a visit at some point this weekend and I look forward to seeing her.

I was experiencing technical difficulties and somehow the last paragraph did not save. Of course, I do not remember exactly what I said so here goes.

Continuing to live with kindness, respect, compassion and patience (even with technology, as I paste a smile onto my face).

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S. Daughter just texted tomorrow is the visit date. We are over the moon.

Second Half of the NEW YEAR.

Good Morning and welcome to the day before the official first day of fall.

This would be Monday, September 21, 2020.

How are you doing today?

I could not turn off the thoughts last night.

Do you have any idea of what I was thinking?

Well I was all consumed with the photos on my camera and not being able to upload / download from camera to computer.

I did “more carefully” read the notes on my camera/phone as follows:

Upload paused for 3682 items MANAGE STORAGEĀ

Not Enough iPhone Storage.

So last night I was quickly going through my photos.

The only problem is … I am not 100% sure that they are all downloaded as not initially when I got the phone but more the past few months, I was having some issues

downloading to computer.

I would get the message on my computer that “there were files that would not download.”

They could be the photos that are multiple frames in one.

I have found that if I do not put the mode into portrait it shots live and there can be multiple shots in one photo.

Now I have no idea if this is the problem.

Unfortunately I forgot to ask my daughter, the photographer when she was here on Saturday.

But definitely will be asking her.

So there will be no photos for awhile.

I will keep going through photos each night.

This is what happens when you are lazy and procrastinate.

I should have been going through them as I downloaded them and then deleted the photos from my phone.

Before my computer cannot handle the thousands of photos, I must do the same.

It was far more easy in the old days when we could take a photo, if it turned out, you kept it otherwise you threw it away.

But you know even at that I kept photos that were not perfect.

I guess I have always felt that I was throwing away the person or whatever the subject of the photo was.

One would think that I was a hoarder by those comments.

I guess when it comes to photos I am.

They are precious to me.

But I have to get things straightened out.

So every night for as long as it takes, I will be going through the photos on my phone.

I think it is safe to say duplicates can go.

I think it is safe to say out of focus can go.

I think it is going to take some time.

But that is life.

Well time to head on downstairs and start work.

Perhaps some of you can identify with my “photo problem.”

Others will likely giggle and say “Oh my gosh, Carol.”

Whatever you think or feel, I know that I am a work in progress.

Be Safe today.

Take Care.

Continue to live with kindness and respect for ALL beings …… animals, trees ……….

We need everything to be in good repair on this planet for us all to survive.

Living with kindness and respect.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

No frost, thank goodness.

Beautiful sky this morning.

Great day ahead.

Second Half of the NEW YEAR.

Good Saturday Morning and Welcome to the 4th day of July.

Our neighbours to the south are celebrating their birthday today.

Happy 244th Birthday United States of America.

We, Canada celebrated our 153 Birthday on July 1st, 2020.

In the grand scheme of things two very young countries compared to other places on this planet.

Both learning new things as we grow or age.

I hope that we never stop learning.

This Saturday morning is overcast and a bit cooler than yesterday.

We reached 24 degrees yesterday here in Edmonton.

With a breeze it was so beautiful and the SUN shine.

Magnificent.

This morning I can see the trees swaying in the breeze.

It seems quiet except for Mr. Alvin squeaking about …. he wants something.

Alvin makes this half bark half whine half something ….

I can say one thing about my boy ….. patience are not in his DNA.

Oh well.

What can you do?

Spoiled much, oh no, not my Alvin (not).

I am so excited though as at 10:00 a.m. my friend G is coming for a visit.

We always have such good visits.

Then at lunchtime my daughter is coming for a visit and lunch, of course.

Cannot come at that time and not have lunch.

Keeping it simple.

I think perhaps grilled cheese sandwiches with veggie tray (limited on the veggies but I have a few).

For dessert, homemade chocolate chip cookies.

So entertaining this morning and then will get some work done this afternoon.

Laundry and such.

A walk with Alvin.

With any luck, Mother Nature will be kind today and the sun will shine.

On this Saturday, I hope that you are safe.

I hope that you are surrounded by folks who love and respect you.

I wish you much joy and laughter sprinkled with abundance.

With kindness and respect.

I/We, shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

One of my favourite flowers.

From another year.

A dear friend gave me an early birthday present.

One of the flowers in the pot that she made for me is pansies.

There are several in fact.

I love pansies as it looks like they have faces.

The coloration is amazing.

Such beautiful combinations.

Again, I suffer from technical difficulties.

Something I need to conquer.

Definitely.

Okay time to go as Mr. Alvin is losing whatever small amount of patience he may have had.

It is a NEW YEAR.

Good Morning All,

Well looks like another rainy day in paradise.

Paradise is not always sand with palm trees swaying in a tropical breeze near a massive body of water under a hot sun.

I live in my own little paradise.

I live in my own home which I have longed for my whole life.

It is mine, I obtained it on my own with only assistance from the bank and I pay them dearly for it every single month.

There are paved roads outside my home on the street lined with sidewalks for pedestrians and the like.

I have green grass instead of sand.

I have flowers instead of palm trees.

We have a breeze almost everyday.

There is a park nearby with water but not for swimming.

I have running water that flows upon my command in my home with a bathtub and showers to boot.

We have varied temperatures each day.

The sun shines and the rain falls in my paradise.

In my paradise I live close to some wonderful people I call friends.

Alvin has his best friend living nearby.

We are truly blessed.

Speaking of Alvin’s best friend Teddy.

Yesterday we were out for our second walk of the day and just coming up to where Teddy lives.

Every time we pass by Teddy’s house Alvin turns to go in.

Since March I have had to say “Sorry buddy not today.”

Until yesterday.

Teddy’s Dad was outside on his way to the mailbox when we spotted each other.

We said hello as Walter gave Alvin a pat on his head.

I said how Alvin always turns in to their house.

He said I think that Iris sent you a text for a get together.

Go into the house.

So we walked up the sidewalk (someone ran).

There was no doorbell ringing as Alvin started to bark and I could hear Iris say “Alvin, oh Teddy it is Alvin.”

With Kobi in her arms and Teddy running to Alvin she opened the door.

We practiced social distancing and enjoyed a wonderful visit on their deck.

Teddy and Kobi kept running and jumping so happy to see us.

Teddy spent some time snuggling on my lap outside on the deck.

We enjoyed a glorious visit on the deck.

So much so when we finally got home it was almost 6:30 p.m.

We left home just before 4:30 p.m. (after work and yes, I was late leaving my desk).

So this is my paradise.

Home and friends.

Friends and home.

My daughter, son-in-law and grand pups live about 20 minutes away.

Well time to go and do the laundry in this paradise as the maid service “sucks.”

I will say that.

The butler sleeps all day or is always wanting a treat.

Imagine that!

Just another day in paradise.

I believe that is a line from a song song by Phil Collins (a fav of mine).

Just another day in paradise.

Coffee is brewed.

Life is good.

Have a great day in your very own paradise.

Paradise is not always defined by the traditional tropical setting.

Paradise is wherever you are ……

Happiness is ….

Yup, it is.

I like that word “yup” with no reason why.

Living with Kindness, Respect and a Generous Spirit.

I/We, shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

Perhaps it is almost time for Christmas in July, “MOVIES.”

Oh, how I love Christmas with the Kranks.

Inside my PARADISE,

Life is GREAT.

It is a NEW YEAR.

Good Morning ALL,

What a glorious beautiful sunny warm morning.

The birds are chattering away and life is good.

I am so happy to wake up to sunshine.

We have been up for awhile.

Slowly and methodically enjoying each moment of this beautiful morning.

Yesterday was a great day.

Alvin had a poop …. getting closer to normal.

I am waiting for him to poop again today.

He seems more like his old self as each day passes.

I can tell with his reactions to people and with his friend Humphrey, the cat.

We had a much better sleep last night, thank goodness.

My daughter stopped by to pick up her NORWEX order and to drop off some items that I needed.

She also had a great surprise for her Momma.

Guess what she brought me?

One of my favorite things in the whole wide world.

FLOWERS.

She brought me some impatiens and some petunias and snapdragons.

We had a wonderful pancake breakfast following by planting.

It has been a few years since we actually planted flowers together.

The sun was shining and the temperature was warm enough on the deck for me to be in short sleeves.

I am so happy.

Also I transplanted my geranium, only sadly to find out that this plant is very toxic to dogs and cats.

Alvin has never really paid much attention to plants but I have to make some decisions.

Thinking of moving it into a safe spot.

Where not sure.

In the meantime, I keep a careful idea on the fur babies when they are on the deck.

Now with the flowers ….. it looks like summer.

I was over the moon happy to have time with my daughter and to plant flowers on a sunny day plus Alvin having a better poop.

Life does not get better than this ….. so happy.

I was trying to upload/download the photos from my phone but am experiencing technical difficulties so will be for another day.

Time to go and have coffee and some toast and honey.

Alvin is signalling that he wants to go back outside.

The simple things in life are the best.

If we try not to overthink, overdo, stress about things to much, everything will work out.

I know this…..

Keep it simple.

I hope that you have a glorious Sunday.

Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.

Sit on your deck, patio or by an open window with your cup of coffee.

Turn on your favourite tunes.

Breathe and enjoy.

With so much respect and kindness sent to you on this day and always,

I/We remain,

As Always, Carol & Mr. Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Good Morning and Wow, it is Friday, November 1st, 2019.

Hard to believe.

HALLOWEEN was amazing this year as it is ALL years.

The office staff did an incredible job with costumes.

So much imagination.

Part of the group that I work with dressed up as the Monopoly Game and Characters.

Wow, they were good.

They won the big prize for the group.

I think it was a PIZZA Party.

Very cool.

The individuals were everything from me as Harry Potter to a Mummy to Witches.

Some of the groups were Zombie Plumbers and Dancing Horses.

So great.

I was a bit disappointed in the number of treaters that came to our door.

I was very proud of Mr. Alvin.

He did not attempt a big escape or scare the children.

Most of the time in between he sat in his chair looking out the window for the kids.

It was so CUTE.

We had 53 and usually we average about 100 give or take.

Likely had to do with so many of my immediate neighbours either were not home or had their lights off.

My porch light had burned out a long time ago and sadly I forgot to change it.

That likely played a role in the low numbers.

But I am most happy that ALL of our friends in the neighbourhood with children came to visit.

The one that made me smile the most was our neighbour’s son who was 8 years old when I moved to Edmonton.

He turned 18 at the beginning of October; he dressed up as a turtle.

Came to show me and of course, teasingly I gave him some treats.

His little brothers are the ones that raked my lawn and of course, they received a special bag of treats customized for each of them.

My friend G and her youngest son came and stopped for a visit.

C wore this amazing chicken costume which inflates and is not exactly the easiest thing to maneuver wearing.

Anyway it was great.

We enjoyed ourselves.

Now we have quite a bit of candy left.

I guess I will freeze the chocolate for another day.

The weather held out.

No wind or rain or snow.

A bit cool but not bad.

Well I was going to show some photos but I am experiencing technical difficulties and it is almost time for us to head downstairs.

Tonight my daughter is picking me up from work and coming for a sleepover.

So excited.

We are putting up the Christmas Tree tonight.

My favourite night ….

Well I love Halloween, too.

Happy Friday.

Remembering we all have to be kind and respectful.

Me, too.

And patience….. I am working on that one.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Hello, what a great morning.

Woke to another “dry ground” morning.

Always a great way to start the day at this time of year.

We had an interesting, entertaining staff meeting yesterday.

Last night Alvin and I enjoyed our walk.

So nice to still have green grass and some trees remain with various coloured leaves.

My tree is almost bare.

Most of the leaves are on the ground or blown away.

Last night we received another big parcel from our friend in Regina.

OMG, there were so many wonderful items.

Alvin loved his package and as always was quite entertaining as he opened his present.

He always gets so excited.

For some reason I am experiencing technical difficulties downloading/uploading the photos of our treats from my phone to the computer.

Alvin had a lovely bag of SNAUSAGES.

Which he loves.

There was an apple pie complete with my initials.

Homemade cheese buns (which I absolutely adore) and regular buns.

Cookies with filling.

A carrot and beet loaf.

A M&M milk chocolate bar, some different mixes and seasoning packets from Epicure, Cereal bars filled with fruit, Carrot jam, Almond biscuits.

Yup, carrot jam and it is divine.

I am likely missing something but OMG, so spoiled.

We are so spoiled.

Thank you to our friend for always making us feel on top of the world, so special.

Well almost time to head off downstairs.

Carpool off until next Wednesday.

One of my coworkers is giving me a ride today and my neighbour tomorrow.

Just have to take the bus home.

Not so bad.

I hope that you all have a great Thursday.

A reminder to myself to walk with joy in my heart,

Kindness permeating my every cell,

and treating myself and all other beings with respect.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 2nd day of December, 2016.

Due to technical difficulties I ran out of time to write my blog this morning.

Wishing you all a great Friday and I will be back tomorrow.

Special Hello to : YOU, thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin
