Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 21st day of February, 2019.

Today was my Grandmother’s Birthday.

She was born this date in 1901 and passed in 1998.

Last night just as I was getting ready to leave the office, I decided to quickly check on Facebook to see if I had a message from Teddy’s Aunt about walking.

When I noticed a message from my friend “V” back home …. she told me that a friend and co-worker from back home in Regina had passed away.

She only recently turned 56.

No forewarning.

She is way too young to be gone.

One of the smartest, most sharp witted, compassionate, friendly people I know.

She loved her family dearly which included fur-babies.

Always posting photos.

She will be missed.

I remember going to her for advice generally about work issues.

I always commented on her beautiful gold chains with a wide variety of charms/pendants, which she always wore in layers.

We will miss you our dear friend.

Sending my thoughts and prayers to my friend’s family and friends.

Having two people pass in close proximity of each other can really throw a curveball at one’s own mortality.

Makes you think about things.

Definitely have to be more aware of “sweating the small stuff.”

We are all guilty of that …..

Work harder and smarter about exercise and health.

Make certain that you tell your family and friends that you love them.

ALWAYS.

Today I am sad for all the missed memories these two great people will miss.

Not for what they would or could have done but for the memories.

The memories of graduations, weddings and grandchildren.

All of the important things, the real important things in life.

The people …..

I hope that you have a great Thursday.

Be safe, Be kind and Live your Life.

Special Hello:  ALL my family and friends, I love you all more than words can say.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 20th day of February, 2019.

It has been lightly snowing since about 4:00 a.m. (one of the times that Mr. Alvin had us up).

We were so grateful last night for such a beautiful evening and for our regular walk.

First time in about three weeks that we were able to go for the whole walk.

Alvin decided that we should turn in at Teddy’s house.

Teddy’s Aunt and Teddy were happy to see us and decided to walk us part of the way home.

It was so nice for the boys and we, girls to have company.

It was wonderful.

Last night I learned about the passing of a neighbour and friend from back home.

He was my age and we shared the same birth month.

So young.

I am sending my thoughts and prayers to his wife, children and family.

Incredibly sad.

So young.

There are no words.

Just feelings that way too young to leave his family and friends.

Hard to articulate at this moment.

I hope that you have a wonderful Wednesday.

Do not sweat the small stuff.

Life needs to be lived to the fullest each and every day.

Love your family and friends and tell them ALL the time.

Special Hello to: my family and friends, you are the world to me.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 27th day of July, 2018.

We made it through another week and a lovely weekend ahead.

The sky is overcast with that hazy pink smoky grey and on the other side of my house you can see the sun shining.

Funny how a direction can change things.

My carpool is not running again today as she had to make another trip to the hospital with her son.

Keeping them in thoughts and prayers.

Alvin decided for some reason unknown to me to get up at 3:00 p.m.

Perhaps it was due to his over eating last night.

After work and after Alvin was looked after, I checked my messages on FB.

I found one from the Momma of Master Teddy inviting us over for supper.

So I sent a message back stating we would love to come if it was not too late.

I called her as well but no answer.

A little while later the phone rang … it was our friend and she had been out for a walk with Teddy.

So supper was a go.

After completing a few small tasks we went on our walk and as they live on our route we stopped there for a visit and supper.

We had a great time.

She has a beautiful home and yard.

The evening zipped by and it was after 8:00 p.m. when we left … continuing our walk home.

Alvin got into Teddy’s food as Teddy’s food dish is always out and he just eats as he is hungry.

I could never do that with me Alvin – he would just eat it all at one time.

It was a great Thursday night.

I do not often go out during the week and seldom for supper.

It was a great treat and most appreciated.

Always so nice when someone else cooks.

She is a great cook.

We had salmon (it was so good).

Well my friends …. that was our evening.

I am so grateful to be surrounded by wonderful people.

I know sometimes work drives me crazy but I can come home to me Alvin, who even when he gets me up in the middle of the night, he is my light.

Tonight my daughter is picking me up after work and we are making a run to COSTCO.

Need a few things before the company arrives next week.

I wish you a wonderful Friday and that you are surrounded by love and light.

Happy Friday.

Special Hello to: my daughter, thank you for being you and for helping your Momma….

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 27th day of May, 2018.

Another gorgeous day has begun.

Yesterday with the cool breeze was comfortable and most enjoyable.

We had Master Teddy spend the day with us.

After supper we went for a walk which went well.

Not too much one going one way and the other.

We bumped into one of our neighbours out with her three small sons for a walk.

The family was on their way home as were, we.

They were happy to see PUPPIES so we finished our walks together.

Nice to visit.

The kiddos were so cute.

One of them placed his hands on the sidewalk and bum in the air was trying to race Teddy.

Oh, how we giggled.

Both of us wished that we would have had a camera along.

This family has a doggie named “Miss Daisy” and she had stayed home due to illness.

She is in kidney failure and on medication.

Her Momma asked if we would stop by as she would like to see Alvin.

Daisy and Alvin get along famously.

Alvin is like this social butterfly that everyone just loves.

Miss Daisy was feeling lots better due in part her Momma thought to a change in meds.

Momma is a nurse and has been given her IV fluids which helps keep her hydrated.

Daisy, Alvin and Teddy ran around their front yard and sprinkled in between where the two old boys as the youngest one was in the stroller as he is 1.5 years old.

The boys are 8 and almost 5 years old.

This Mom works as a Nurse at a nearby hospital.

Busy lady.

Daisy is in our thoughts and prayers.

She is 13 years old and we hope that she has many good years left to live.

Her Momma was worried about her and as her Husband is working out of town; she certainly has her hands full.

I volunteered to help out if she needs me.

Any time day or night.

That is what friends and neighbours are for?  Right?

Yesterday was just one of those great days.

Days are always better when surrounded by puppies, a kitty, a gecko and CHILDREN.

I also spent time with Humphrey, the Cat and Cinder, the Gecko.

They are in my care while their Momma is away on vacation.

The right amount of work, fun and relaxation and exercise.

Perfection.

Well almost time to hit the shower as I am invited to a birthday party this morning.

One of our trio of friends is celebrating a birthday (early as it is on Thursday) and the other one is hosting.

So I get to just show up.

We have such a great time.

I picked up a bottle of wine for her and a turtle for her yard.

Not a real turtle, of course.

I love turtles.

Something a bit different.

Looking forward to chatting and laughing.

I hope that you all had the most perfect weekend.

Happy Sunday.

Special Hello to:  my sister and all of my girl friends all over the world.

ALWAYS, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 14th day of September, 2017.

FOREVER CHANGED

Last night as I prepared for bed,

before I laid my head down upon my pillow,

before I drew the blankets about me to keep me warm and dry.

I thought of all those souls, of all those creatures of land, water and sky.

Lives lost and forever changed.

Struggling to keep safe from the fires burning in Western Canada.

Praying for rain with no lightning and no wind.

Of those trying to escape the massive flooding and destruction caused by the Hurricanes in the Southern United States, and in the many islands of the Caribbean.

Praying for sunshine and the wind and rain to stop.

Of those who are searching for loved ones in the rubble of the largest Earthquake in 100 years, in Mexico.

It warms my heart to hear stories of people reaching out to help each other.

Strangers going into neighbourhoods to rescue beloved pets that got left behind.

First Responders risking their lives to help.

There were no political agendas, no thought of race or religion.

Just humans helping.

Despite the danger and risk to themselves.

People coming together to help.

I am forever changed.

I am so grateful to have my own bed in my own home.

I am so grateful to be warm and dry.

I am so grateful to snuggle with me, Alvin on this night.

Safe and sound and together.

Grateful in the knowledge that my family and friends are safe and warm as well.

Gone are those thoughts that have irritated me during the day, and that keep me awake at night.

For they are not important.

Life can change in the blink of an eye.

What is important ….

Each other ….

You are all in my thoughts and prayers ….

Each human being, each creature of land, water and sky ….

All those affected …..

As you are all important to me and to this planet.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 26th day of May, 2017.

Friday ….. did someone say Friday!

YAY …… my daughter is picking me up from work (always nice to have a car ride home and chat with my girl).

Plan is to walk with my friend and her dog Presley.

They are the ones that lost their beloved Lola last Saturday.

I also am baking a birthday cake for another friends “early” birthday celebration which is 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Have to do laundry as I am actually attending an after-work function tomorrow night.

Normally I do not attend after work events as I do not have a car and do not wish to bother anyone.

But this time we are going to the Zoo (not that I am particularly happy to see animals caged up), and my daughter is going with me or I am going with her as she has the car.

So lots to do tonight.

Busy is good.

The sun was shining but now the sky has clouded over so I guess that means a jacket.

I hope that the forecast is correct for the weekend ….. low 20’s (celsius) and SUNNY.

I would also like to send my thoughts and prayers to the young family of my dear friend (we have been friends since toddlers).

Her son-in-law has received a bad diagnose.

Always hard to hear negative news …..

There seems to be no rhyme or reason for such things but it happens more and more.

Time to finish getting ready and hit the road to catch the bus to work.

Happy Friday.

Remember be kind to everyone around you ….. we do not know their stories ……

All living creatures deserve to be treated with kindness and respect.

I also think we should treat nature as such …..

Special Hello to:  my friend “D” ….. thinking of you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 6th day of May, 2016.

Stories just keep coming from the northern Alberta City of McMurray.

Stories of HEROISM.

Stories of BRAVERY.

Each person that I speak to either has loved ones or knows of folks that lived in Fort McMurray.

Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.

Help wherever you can.

Call the Red Cross ….

The Government will match donations made to the Red Cross for Fort McMurray.

My heart is with the little animals …. the wildlife.

I cannot get them out of my head.

Special Hello to: all the life in our North ….. I hope that you are safe and secure.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Today is Thursday, August 2nd, 2012.

I would like to take this time to acknowledge the passing of my Aunt Helen.

She was the last living sibling in my Mother’s family and a dear, dear woman.

My Aunt was one of those soft spoken ladies but when she raised her voice, you knew to listen.

I shall always remember our visits which were few, and I always wished there had been more.

She had the best garden on the planet ….. I remember a few summer visits and eating peas from the garden.

Oh and the berries ….. we used to go berry picking, oh what fun.

She was a gem …… glistening amongst us all.

My thoughts and prayers are with her children, relatives and friends.

Thank you Aunt Helen for gracing us with your presence which was your life.

You truly made an impression in our hearts and souls.

Yesterday morning I caught the bus to work and just after leaving the house I looked up to the sky to see the most glorious rainbow.

It was so brilliant and beautiful.

I just started to smile, and was not able to stop.

As I walked along I could see the faintness of another rainbow ….. a double rainbow.

As the clouds dissipated the full arcs of the rainbows were displayed.

Near the bus stop a woman had stopped her car to get out and take a photo.

Another lady pulled out her phone and took a photo while waiting for the bus.

When my daughter arrived I asked her to take a photo, too.

I think it was Aunt Helen …… she was using that magic in the rainbow to shine down over us.

Rest easy my dear Aunt.

We love you and shall miss you………….

Always, Carol and Alvin ……..
