Living … One day at a time

Hello, it is an interesting morning.

I did not notice when we were outside earlier that there were every so tiny balls of snow on the deck.

As the sky lightens they are noticeable.

Noticed some on the shingles outside my bedroom window.

There is a coolness to the air definitely this morning.

The sky is overcast with medium blue clouds which appear to be lightening.

The first photo was a question on the Weather Channel however I think some of the points are a great idea to begin to put into play.

My tree out front through my bedroom window.

Still so many green leaves but lots of yellow golden ones and so many on the ground.

They are making a crunchy bed below.

Today will be spent inside and outside.

If the day allows I will be climbing up on my trusty tall step ladder to clean out the eavestrough outside my bedroom window.

I should have down it during the nice weather but alas I had forgot about the taller ladder.

I have a five foot one which I use in the house all the time.

The tall one is from my friend and neighbor so I don’t think of it even though it is in the garage.

Anyway.

Last night I put away the table umbrellas and some of the furniture.

There are a few things to finish outside in preparation for the upcoming cold months.

There is a list a mile or so long to do inside the house.

Those things that are not noticeable to the naked eye but things one puts off during the summer months to spend the precious time outdoors.

So almost time to start laundry and put the COFFEE on …. I do need coffee.

We went to bed pretty early and Mr. Alvin decided he needed to go outside at 2:00 a.m. and then we were up at 5:00 a.m. so he could eat and finally I caved a bit later and we are up.

Actually have been up for a bit now.

Changed our bedding and gathered up laundry in upstairs.

Well I had better get this show on the road.

Might require a nap a bit later.

We will need to walk a bit later.

Last night I caved as after catching the bus to the vet and carrying Alvin’s food, glucosamine and one can of wet food home, I was cold and tired.

Been a long day and week.

We went for one short walk to our friend’s house to deliver her tea order.

I hope that you enjoy this Saturday as will I.

I do like doing things around the house and if possible will finish the prep work outside today otherwise it will be tomorrow.

Life is filled with kindness and respect and it begins with ourselves.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 16th day of October, 2018.

Another beautiful day on the way.

So gorgeous yesterday and tomorrow will take the prize at +18 degrees celsius.

YAY, we have fall, we are so HAPPY.

Doing a little jig ….

Doing a little happy dance…

Quick story about Mr. Alvin.

Yesterday my daughter had the day off and stopped by the house to pick up a couple of things.

When Alvin saw her coming I guess he started to quiver and shake.

My daughter said that he was so anxious.

She tried to feed him (as it was later in the afternoon and I was catching the bus home) but no luck.

She picked him up as he would not go outside to pee.

He likely thought that she was taking him in the car.

Without me at home, he panicked.

He does not love the car ride.

He does not like the car ride.

He barely tolerates the car ride.

He loves to be at home.

Poor boy.

When I arrived home a little bit later, he was fine.

I would never had know he had been in that state (unless my daughter told me).

That’s okay Mr. Alvin we will just stay at home.

I have been doing a lot of reading as of late.

Back to doing what I love and I love to read.

I came across this line and I think it to be true in a lot of situations.

Sometimes all you have to do is shift your perspective to see someone else’s truth.”

Is that not the best line ever.

Or one of them anyway.

Love that line.

So here in Edmonton, life is pretty great.

Alvin and I are enjoying our walks in the evening.

Work is busy but I am grateful to be employed and able to pay my mortgage.

Always good to have food in the fridge and heat in the house.

I am very grateful to have the best family and friends.

So grateful that I have my life.

Have a great Tuesday.

Special Hello to: my sister ….. you are the best sister ever.

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S. so grateful to be carpooling most days to work.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 10th day of March, 2018.

Today is the birthday of my son-in-law’s brother, Happy Birthday “D.”

The sun is shining and it is a great day thus far.

Alvin slept from 10:30 until 4:15 a.m. (not bad).

Feeling more rested.

So excited to see the sun shining.

A day where the sun is shining in the early morning is a GREAT day.

We are preparing for my daughter’s birthday.

My daughter and her husband and the grand-pups are coming over.

We have to do some light cleaning and tidying up.

Laundry of course, cause it is Saturday.

I am making supper – my daughter’s favourite and my son-in-law is bringing cupcakes.

All bases are covered.

I am reminded by the book that I am reading that sometimes we, people in general spend too much time on the past and forget about today and tomorrow.

I am not saying that the past is not important and does not require some attention but not so much that it deters us from today and tomorrow.

I know that without yesterday there would be no todays or tomorrows.

But let us celebrate today so that we set the stage for a great tomorrow.

Have an awesome Saturday, March 10th, 2018.

May the sun be shining softly upon you as you carry on with your day.

Play some music and do a happy dance, just because you can.

Be happy …..

Special Hello to: all those celebrating birthdays ……

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 4th day of February, 2018.

This is what happens when you are home for a week, suddenly it is February 4th.

WOW, Hello February.

We may not be off to the best of starts but alas we have started the month and that is what counts.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY NIECE “M” who is 21 years old today.

WOW, I cannot believe it.  Have a wonderful day.

I was able to get to the Doctor yesterday and am happy to report that I am on the mend.

No bladder infection (did I just write that for the world to see), no chest congestion, blood pressure and such all A-OKAY.

Doctor even said I was his easiest patient.

I am thinking he meant best prepared.

I only had to wait for about one hour so that was not bad.

The only thing was I was in a room filled with SICK people, coughing and sneezing.

Some folks freely coughing and sneezing into the air with no respect for those around them.

No masks …… I tried to cover my mouth and nose as to hopefully keep those germs away from me.

I am feeling better and do not wish to go through this again anytime soon.

In Saskatchewan, when visiting a medical clinic you are asked if you have a cough, cold or flu and if so, you are required to wear a mask.

What a GREAT IDEA?

I had thought of that while at home but did not have one to wear.

I should have asked them for one.

Next time, I will.

I plan to bring up this idea to Alberta Health Service.

After seeing the Doctor, I went to the grocery store where I called and booked a taxi.

Worked out perfectly, I was able to take my time and not having to rush.

Taxi was pretty much on time.

The driver was nice and carried my groceries to the house for me.

I tipped him “well.”

The sky is bright with the sun that is rising in the east.

It is cold but warming up.

Thank goodness.

Just a few things to do around the house to prepare for work tomorrow.

Wow, it seems like forever since I have been to work.

Alvin is going to wonder what happened or not.

I like to think that he will miss me as he usually follows me wherever I go around the house.

Even yesterday when we were out back and I was shovelling.

I was only out for a few minutes but he was cold and rightly so.

So I let him into the house and he cried for me.

Ah, poor baby.

That was it for the shovelling.

Well I guess I should get this show on the road.

I am so grateful to family and friends for their phone calls, emails, FB messages during my “sick time” at home.

Still cannot believe that I was home for a whole week.

Special Hello to: all my family and friends, thank you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 8th day of December, 2017.

Sorry this will be short.

I had an accident getting off the bus last night and my left hand is banged up …

Someone getting on, me getting off and the bus driver did not lower the step and I had two bags.

Not pretty.

I am okay ….. left hand pretty sore …..

I will be back tomorrow.

Special Hello: to my friend “V”

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 1st day of December, 2017.

We are now on the countdown to Christmas.

Can you believe it?

The house is VERY QUIET without me Alvin this morning.

I am going out tonight (yup, I am) with two of my friends for supper and then hosting dessert and party afterward.

Dessert:  Homemade Oreo cheesecakes (mini) and chocolate chocolate chip cookies that I made last night.

It is very seldom that I go out in the evening …… there is something about leaving him again after I have been away at work all day ….. that I just cannot do.

I love snuggling with him in the evenings.

One would think that I would have all this time but it took me twice as long having a shower and getting ready?

What is up with that?

I guess he keeps me in a healthy quick rhythm.

My daughter picked me up after work and then took her little brother home with her ….. he is not a good traveller but managed okay.

He will be home tomorrow.

Another nice day on the way.

I believe another plus temperature day.

Hopefully I can get some more of that ice chipped away.

The snow melted and the ice builds up in front of my house, go figure?

Just in the right spot.

I hope that this day finds you in a good place.

Happy with life.

Kind to yourself and to others.

Patient –  most especially when you are waiting in traffic, please no road rage.

Patient with yourself and with others.

Have an awesome 1st day of December,

I better go and have breakfast ….. whoops as it is almost time to leave for work.

How did that happen?

I had one hour?

Special Hello to:  my friend “J” who has a birthday tomorrow.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 27th day of October, 2017.

Another gorgeous day on the way and even warmer tomorrow.

Happy Birthday to my friend “S” ….. she lives in Ontario.

We go back many years and have many stories.

Have a great day my friend.

Looks like me and the Alvin are puppy sitting Master Teddy tomorrow.

He is such a lively little guy.

Certainly will be a busy fun day.

I was considering giving Mr. Alvin a hair cut and bath but may rethink that …. not sure.

We will see how things go.

I hope that wherever you are and whatever you are doing that today is a great day for you.

Filled with hope, love, much laughter and fulfillment of a dream or two.

Be kind and considerate and also filled with generosity.

No matter who or what comes your way.

Today is the door that separates us from yesterday, and the window with glimmers of tomorrow.

Happy Friday Everyone.

Special Hello to:  my sister, oh my goodness seems like forever since I spoke to you.  We have to SKYPE soon.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 22nd day of October, 2017.

The sun is up and there are dark blue clouds covering most of the sky to the south.

The air is crisp, cool and still.

My bathroom fan and light are on awaiting my presence to enjoy a morning shower.

Alvin is relaxing in the hallway waiting for me as he does not like to be in the office.

Perhaps it is because of the floor (laminate).

He prefers to lay on something soft, I cannot blame him for that.

I captured the cutest photos (on my tablet) of him this morning.

We have already been up a couple of times much earlier than now and settled on the sofa as somehow the thought of staying up at 4:30 or 6:20 on Sunday does not interest me much.

So when it was time to get up, I got off the sofa and he continued to lay on our rectangular pillow.

Oh, so cute.  His head on the pillow and his body sprawled out on the sofa.

He stretched and starred at me.

Grabbing the tablet and took some photos.

The camera would have been easier but it was upstairs and the chances of him remaining on the sofa where pretty much NIL.

I will have to figure out how to get those photos off the tablet and onto the computer.

Previously I have posted them to FB.

I will post them on my blog.

These photos will pretty much guarantee a smile to your face.

Well I hear that shower fan telling me I am ready to move around the wet air, the steam.

Light saying you are using unnecessary electricity, yes, I know.

Anyway have the most awesome day.

I am working on projects for Christmas.

Pretty much all the big jobs were done yesterday so today can be a fun day.

Walk and project day …. fun projects …. making stuff.

Happy Sunday.

See you tomorrow.

Enjoy your day.

Special Hello to: my Friends and Family all over the world.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 8th day of October, 2017.

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all our Canadian Family and Friends.

It is late morning and we are now back home from our overnight visit with the kids and grand-pups.

We had fun.

Went on two walks, had our photographs taken and had the most delicious meal.

Loved my daughter’s potato dish ….. so yummy.

Always good to try something new.

Alvin is happy to be back home as he is a home “doggie” …… loves to be at home.

Back to work tomorrow so for the rest of today will get a few chores completed and then relax for the evening.

I hope that you all had a good Thanksgiving weekend.

I am thankful for all that we are blessed to have ……

Special Hello to:  my family and friends.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to the 8th day of August, 2017.

The skies are overcast but the weather channel had forecasted sunny skies for today (last night’s report).

I hope that the sun shines.

Lots of birthdays today …..

Happy Birthday to:  Niece-in-law “S”,  little “A”, cousin “T” and my dear friend “K”

August is a huge birthday month in my family and with several of my friends.

My friend “K” celebrates her birthday today and mine tomorrow.

We are almost ready for all the company descending upon us today.

Some dropping by for a visit while in the area visiting in-laws.

My brother will arrive from Calgary later this afternoon.

Started the prep work for supper so that I am prepared.

Bedding changed for a change in the guest room occupant.

Alvin is loving having the company.

Wonder what he will think when my nephew and his family arrive?

Happy Tuesday.

Have a great day.

Excited to see everyone …..

Special Hello to: Birthday Celebrators

Always, Carol & Alvin
