Living … One day at a time.

Hello,

Up late this morning …. just had to sleep in……

Bright and sunny this morning quite the change from last night.

To explain.

Yesterday Alvin and Humphrey the Cat spent the entire day together.

From the time I left for work until I arrived home and then until about 9 p.m.

The boys did great.

These photos where taken about 8:00 p.m. – I guess they must have played hard.

As they were pooped.

I also spent some time with Luna who was visiting at Humphrey’s home, the reason for him to be with us.

Luna is a beautiful HUGE dog with so much energy.

Do you think that I can remember her breed?  No, not now.

Adding here …. I believe she is a LAB.

OH my goodness …..

I let her out to pee, fed her supper and played with her on three different occasions throughout the evening.

We had fun.

I did have a walk with Alvin after supper.

We went to see our friends as we will be watering their flowers while they are away.

Alvin loves to roll in the grass at their house.

Our friend joined us for a walk.

By this time, I will admit that I was kind of pooped as there had been some broken night’s sleep along the way.

Last night the skies were alive.

The clouds were just a rolling.

We did have a couple of tornado watches throughout last evening.

The last three photos were from a few minutes ago.

Glad to see bright sunshine.

It feels like a shorts day and that is what I am wearing.

At least for now.

I moved my flower pots into the sunshine from the safety of the house.

Tomorrow Master Teddy joins us for the day.

Somehow I seem to be surrounded more with four-legged babies than humans.

At least at home that is.

I do not mind.

They make me laugh and feed my soul.

Provide excellent company.

Well time to go.

I can smell the aroma of my freshly perked coffee.

Laundry is calling my name.

Saturday after all …..

Work to do.

I do love putzing around at home.

The windows are all open.

The cool breeze lapping onto my face.

What a life.

I am this truly blessed almost 62 year old woman just living her life … one day at a time.

Have an awesome Saturday.

Always be kind and respectful.

We just have to be.

To all living creature big and small.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 11th day of July, 2017.

What a difference in temperatures between Sunday night and last night.

It really cooled down.

Did not even need the fan on during the night.

The sudden drop in temperature always freaks me out a bit as it generally means a storm is brewing.

They did forecast some tornadoes in central Alberta last night.

We are grateful to sleep with just the window open.

Well Mr. Alvin did not sleep through the night last night.

I am beginning to think that it had something to do with the “fan.”

Will try with fan on tonight and see what happens.

Having a small rain shower at this moment.

The air is cool and crisp ….. thank goodness for a cool house.

Just thinking about this ….. due to the cancellation of my bus in the morning …. I now arrive later but on time of course.

So instead of worrying about making coffee ….. one of my co-workers who changed her work schedule just recently ….. well she just whips up a couple of pots.

Thinking of me ….. they are ready for when I arrive.

How lucky am I?

I guess what goes around comes around …..

So for the summer I will have my morning coffee made for me.

In the fall when the bus schedule returns to norm …. I will gladly assume my coffee making duties.

What a great life I have….

I was thinking about great it would be to have 1,000 followers on my blog.

Years ago when I first started writing this blog on Word Press, I so badly wanted 1,000,000 followers.

Perhaps that was a bit on the high side.

Now reality has set in and this small town …. big city girl is grateful to have 665 followers.

Shooting for 1,000 ….. why not?

Special Hello to: all those folks who read my blog.  I am so grateful.  This is making my dreams come true.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 17th day of July, 2014.

It is raining softly here in Edmonton slowly cleaning away the smoke and ashes from the air.

We need the moisture and a cooler day so win-win for us today.

What a different summer this has been for different parts of the country …. for all of North America.

Flooding, drought, fires, hurricanes and tornadoes.

I wish all my fellow beings safe passage from one day to the next.

Well I am just enjoying a quick cup of coffee before I head out to the dentist and then to work.

I am so grateful for this moment and to be here with Alvin.

Every extra moment I have with him is special.

He is my boy.

He now knows how to ask “please” when getting a treat.

So cute …..

I say to him “Ask nice.” and he lifts up his paw and gently paws against my leg and sometimes just in mid air …. if I am not standing right next to him.

I think if our precious four legged friends can ask why is it so hard for the two-legged ones to do so?

I think it is important to teach our young ones to be polite and have manners.

Asking please and acknowledging thank you is a must.

So on this great Thursday let’s use our manners …… people including myself really appreciate them.

I hope that you all have a fantastic day.

Special Hello to: all my family and friends back in Saskatchewan, I hope that you are doing okay after all the flooding.  Thoughts with you all.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 5th day of July, 2014.

I hope that everyone in North America had a great week of celebrations.

We celebrate Canada Day on Tuesday, July 1st and on July 4th our friends and neighbours to the south, the United States celebrated their birthday.

A full week.  Eating.  Fireworks.  YAY.

There were a great many of our fellow North Americans that have been caught in flooding due to the enormous never ending rainfall, also forest fires, hurricanes and tornadoes.

We hope that they are all safe and receiving help where needed.

Last night or actually earlier this morning we had quite the light show.

I am reminded of the power of Mother Nature.

One moment it was still – the next what seemed like torrential downpour.

Then it ended.

Then the thunder and the lightning.

A couple of times it was so sudden that I jumped up in bed.

I wonder how Alvin did ….. he is at his sister’s house.

It is overcast here this morning and windy.

Well time to get the laundry going, start moving things to the garage for the garage sale next weekend.

I am preparing the house for my daughter and son-in-law and my two grand-puppies who will be living with me and Alvin while their new home is being built.

It is a great time to donate, recycle, sell and give away items no longer needed.

I am so excited.

I have most of the upstairs done.

Just have to rearrange the basement and the garage somewhat.

Also string the bracelets for the wedding jewellery as next Saturday we are having a “jewellery fitting.”

I love the sound of those words.

I have heard of dress fitting but never jewellery fitting.

Sounds appropriate.

On this somewhat dreary but exciting day nonetheless, I hope you are happy and safe.

Take Care.

Special Hello to: my sister …… we have to talk …… and catch up.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 5th day of June, 2014.

Here I almost went again …. started to key May instead of June.

I am not quite in the month of June yet.

Should be soon ……. laughing to myself.

The sky is overcast and it is has been raining here a lot over the past several days.

Last night Alvin and I managed to sneak in a lovely walk between downpours.

We have impeccable timing – I should say.

I sure wished that I knew what Alvin was thinking.

It would be so nice if he could talk.

Er, maybe most times, anyway.

He always seems to have a lot to say.

Sounds like there has been more crazy weather all over the world.

Our neighbours to the south have been plagued with fires and tornadoes.

Other neighbours on the planet – suffered from earthquakes.

I am not sure if there are more or if it is just that “social media” and regular media are quick on the bandwagon and you hear about things in real time.

Another reason that I do not regularly listen to the news.

They should have specific time for news that is “happy, good” …… we need to hear more good things over social media and regular media.

How can we see the silver lining in things if all we hear about is death and destruction, crime and injustice for victims?

Well here we go again …. almost time to leave for work.

The time flies in the morning.

I do so much enjoy this time laying out my thoughts and writing.

This is my life.

Today is my last work day for this week at the office and my second last Friday off before we switch back to no Fridays off.

I will miss them.

Great weekend coming up ….. lots of coffee dates (visits with my girl friends and neighbours) …. shopping for “beads” to make wedding jewellery for another custom order.

I hope that you have a great Thursday.

Let us try to always see the silver lining in whatever comes our way today and always.

Special Hello to: all my fellow bloggers ……

Always, Carol and Alvin

Trip to Regina

On Canada Day this year, I flew with my daughter to Regina, Saskatchewan to see family and friends.  I left my little dog Alvin in the more than capable hands of my son-in-law ( I know he loves him as much as I do).  This was the first time that I have left Alvin for more than one day.  So it was hard but a good thing for us both.  I must tell you all, really having Alvin is like having a little child once again.  You want to leave them and you do not want to leave them.  What a quandary! Alvin had his “cousins” or “niece and nephew” ??? to play with ….. that is Elton and Penny.  I cannot think of what they are to each other but I do know they are friends.  Back to the trip.  We left Edmonton pretty much on time.  Which is a good thing.  I was happy to see that we didn’t have to remove our footwear and put on those “blue hospital slipper things” ……   My best friend Linda picked us up at the airport.  When we opened the door to leave the airport in Regina we were hit by the hot humid air.  WOW.  We went back to Linda’s house and relaxed.  After supper that night Amanda went to visit some of her friends.  It was a quick trip so we did not have time to see everyone and for that I apologize.  Next trip.  Linda and I went for a walk to a nearby Second Cup Coffee Shop to have coffee and found it closed.  I guess we should not have been surprised as it was Canada Day after all.  But we had a wonderful walk taking in my old neighbourhood and getting some exercise so that was great.  Later that evening, the wind got up, lightning bolts bombarded the air and the thunder roared and it RAINED.  There were tornado watches or warnings out (I do not remember which means what, possibly you might blow away or run for cover).  We survived the night, thank goodness.

On our second day, Amanda and I walked to my nephew Troy’s house.  When I lived in Regina it was about a ten minute walk so tack on a couple of minutes extra from Linda’s house.  We were excited to walk by our old apartment building and the lake across the street.  About five minutes away from Linda’s we realized that perhaps we should have called Troy to come, and get us as it was HOT AND HUMID.  But of course, as strong and determined and STUBBORN women we didn’t call we just kept going.  I guess if Amanda wasn’t carrying her backpack with her camera & equipment and purse and I wasn’t carrying my purse and extra bag with presents for the kids, it might have been cooler.  Oh well.  A bit of sweating, er I mean perspiring (LOL) never hurt anyone.  We arrived.  So happy to see see Troy, his wife Sara and the little ones, almost five year old Azlin and baby Zane (8 months).  Oh my gosh, you could just eat those boys with a spoon.  So cute and so much fun.  I threatened to take the boys home to Edmonton with me.  We had a fun day with them.  Started with coffee and visit, then went for lunch and then drove to check out some properties outside of town.  Oh my, some of the yards so beautiful.  When we got back to their house – Troy found out that he had to leave for work (a day earlier than he expected).  A last minute decision found Amanda and I at the theatre with Azlin watching “Toy Story 3” ….. it was such a great movie.  I was in tears.  If you haven’t seen it – take your family to see it.  It has something for every age.  Very well done.  Sara and baby Zane picked us up at the theatre and then took us back to Linda’s.  There appeared to be a storm brewing. Winds got up but luckily never amounted to anything.  We had such a wonderful time.  I even managed to get a short play in with Azlin.  I miss our time together.

On Saturday, the temperature was a bit cooler so that was a good start.  My sister Cindy picked us up from Linda’s and we went to her house.  Joined by my niece Dara, her “hubby” Geoff and daughter Selena.  We had coffee (a must).  We girls hit the playground which is across the street to do some swinging and take some photos.  Such a nice day.  We had a great visit.  Supper was a barbecue (Geoff made us veggie burgers on the grill) and it was so yummy.  Enjoyed by one and all. Cindy has been doing some stuff around the yard, too.  They took out a tree.  It wasn’t your average tree, either.  It was HUGE.   In the middle of painting the garage.  Looks great.  Also Cindy has some beautiful flowers.  Later that evening Sara and the boys came over.  We played some games and visited.  It was close to midnight when we returned to Linda’s.  Tired but happy.

Then it was Sunday and we were leaving to go back to Edmonton.  Linda made breakfast and her daughters Kadie & Melissa and grand-daughter Abi joined us.  We had a great visit.  It was a warm morning as we had coffee on the deck.  Linda dropped us off at Cindy’s on their way to the RCMP Open House.  We had a nice lunch and then back to the airport.  A whirlwind weekend but a great time.  So many wonderful memories.

No matter how many days you have with family and friends it always seems too short.  Both Amanda and I are grateful for the time that we did get to spend with them.  The little kids were glorious.  All so cute and awesome.  I miss my dear friend Linda, my sister Cindy and all of the family (you know who you are).

Hard to believe that we have been home one week tomorrow already.  Where does the time go?

Thank you to everyone for making our stay in Regina so awesome.  We love you guys……..
