It is a NEW YEAR.

Well here we are again at a Friday morning.

May 15, 2020.

We started out here in Edmonton with a beautiful sunrise and what I thought was going to be a sunshiny day but then turned to clouds.

I cannot remember what the forecast was for today other than the temperature was/is to be plus 17 degrees celsius.

Which is not bad temperature wise.

My poor boy is under “the weather.”

Starting on Tuesday he had some wicked gas attacks.

I feared something was on the way.

On Wednesday on our way home from our afternoon/after work walk, he fell to a bout of diarrhea.

He did eat all of his supper.

He did not appear to be too out of sorts (for him).

Yesterday morning he only ate half of his breakfast and a bit of banana.

He had two bouts of diarrhea.

One in the morning before I started work and the other mid afternoon while my son-in-law dropped by with some chicken breasts and white rice for the boy.

Yesterday morning I reached out to my daughter about possibly picking up those items for Alvin.

My son-in-law was able to pick up and bring over.

We had a little visit.

So nice to see him, it has been awhile.

I think my daughter’s birthday in March.

So last night for supper Alvin had chicken breasts and white rice for supper.

He is back on the bland diet for a few days while whatever it is runs the course.

Jenn from the Vet’s office called to remind me of his appointment today at 2 p.m.

I immediately informed her of Alvin’s condition and she agreed to put him on the chicken and rice.

They will also put him on probiotics which should help.

My poor baby.

He will be on a strict chicken and rice.

I deliberately did not have banana this morning with breakfast as it is his favourite and I did not wish to taunt him.

That would not have been fair.

I have decided it may be wise especially with his age that I put him on a strict diet.

Only his regular food, his treats that I pick up from the vet’s office.

No longer he can have special treats from family and friends.

Even the Vet’s office suggested it may be allergies.

Dogs in age can develop allergies so not uncommon.

Better to be safe than having him go through this ….

He is a trooper but I can only imagine how he must feel although he does loves chicken and rice.

So that part is good for him and makes him happy.

I am with fingers crossed that his poop is more firm this morning and hopefully he will go.

He has not as yet which is odd for him.

Perhaps things are just settling down.

Well time to go and get that coffee and sign on for work.

I have a meeting this morning and one after lunch just before I am leaving early for Alvin’s appointment.

So happy Friday one and all.

I hope that you have a great day and long weekend.

I suppose not everyone everywhere has a long weekend for Victoria Day.

I get that …..

But have a great weekend …..

Take care, stay healthy.

Be kind.

Show kindness and respect to all creatures big and small.

I/We Remain,

As Always, CarolĀ  & Alvin

P.S. sorry for my post to be all about “poo” …… such as my life at this moment.

Living … One day at a time.

Hello, a bright sunny windy Monday morning here in Edmonton.

Alvin has been not feeling well since the wee hours of Saturday morning.

It started with extremely bad gas.

I have never heard anything quite like it before from him.

I will not give you the graphics but suffice to say it has truly been a long weekend.

After changing his food yesterday to a bland diet of chicken and rice yesterday it has helped in some respects.

But he is still not his old self.

He is drinking water so that is good.

We only last night finally got more than two hours of sleep.

I feel a bit more rested but still anxious about my boy.

You might say why not take him to the vet.

Well our regular vet is closed for the long weekend and the emergency vet would mean a car ride.

He gets so stressed and anxious in the car – I wanted to try all that I could before putting him into that situation.

Other than the bottom end now …. he is okay.

But that is always a concern.

I just wanted to share this as my posts this weekend were not the norm, and I had so wanted to share more photos and stories of my August vacation.

But for now this is all that I can do.

I have to keep an eye on my boy.

We may have to make a trip to the vet before the end of the day.

I hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Alvin is a strong guy and I am quite certain he will be fine once he gets over this.

Treat all creatures big and small with kindness and respect.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 5th day of September, 2018.

Wow, mid first week of September 2018.

That came fast.

I was at home under the weather yesterday – so I did not post on my blog.

I hope that life is finding you well, energized and happy.

I am doing well.

Alvin and I had a nice walk last night.

Always makes a person feel better to get some fresh air.

My carpool is on vacation this week so catching the bus this morning.

Back to the normal bus schedule now as the kids are back to school.

I will catch the earlier one which gets me to work about twenty minutes early.

Alvin is semi curled up on his blue blanket on the office floor beside me.

He is like an attachment.

When I am at home – he is never far away.

Oh, how I love this little guy.

The temperature seems to be warming and ended up being warmer than original forecast.

Today mid to late teens so that will be nice.

Alvin is noticeably licking his paws now.

Not sure if the new “egg shell membrane” medicine is working better or worse than the glucosamine.

I was watching a bit of a show in between sleeping yesterday and caught Jamie Lee Curtis speaking about her life.

She said that she never was particularly good at school or sports and was not considered to be pretty.

She just went by unnoticed until as a young adult she started to do the things that she was interested in acting and later writing.

Jamie just published her 12th children’s book.

Very inspirational.

Well almost time to grab my things and my shoes and hit the trail to the bus.

I hope that you all have an awesome day.

We have to remember that having all the education in the world does not guarantee you happiness UNLESS you are passionate about your chosen path.

I am not saying that education is not good nor am I saying that it does not help.
