Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 11th day of September, 2017.

Just starting to get light but too dark to put on my sun glass clips when I leave the house.

But partway into the bus ride the sun will be up and I will need them.

Funny this time of year.

I have just started reading a book that I acquired.

Written by past United States President Bill Clinton.

The name of the book “Giving” How each of us can change the World.

As I read the book and hear of how many and how much has been given for years and continues to be given, I wonder:

  1.  How much would it take to fix the Environment, is it even possible?
  2.  How much would it take to end world hunger, is it even possible?
  3.  How much would it take to bring peace to the world, is it even possible?

Food for thought?

Well I am running late ….. just some questions that I doubt can ever be answered ….. not in my lifetime.

Have a wonderful day as we each ponder these questions.

Special Hello to:  all those who give and make a difference.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 5th day of September, 2017.

The sun is just starting to rise at about 6:20 a.m.

What a difference from a few weeks ago when it was light before 5:00 a.m.

The days are noticeably shorter now as we ease into autumn or fall, the last quarter of the year 2017.

The air is much cooler in the morning and cools off in the evening as well.

Although this week is to be in the mid to high 20’s …… on the warm side.

Last night was perfect when Alvin and I went for a walk and to water our friend’s flowers.

I am wishing/hoping/praying that her flowers remain as beautiful this Friday as they were last night.

I love flowers and spending the time in her yard with Alvin ….. is priceless.

AS I gaze out of my office window I am in awe of the skyline.

The trees reach up in line against the pale orange and blues of the sunrise.

What a gorgeous time of day.

I shall definitely enjoy my walk to the bus this morning.

Back to work ….. we had a wonderful weekend.

We walked, cleaned and watered.

I hope that you all enjoyed your weekend as well.

Happy Tuesday Everyone.

Special Hello to: To all the folks in the southern United States as you come out of the other side of Hurricane Harvey ….. you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Keep safe, warm and strong.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 4th day of July, 2017.

Bright sunny morning …. beautiful day.

Happy 4th of July to our neighbours in the United States.

We, me and Alvin, had a wonderful extra long weekend.

Lots of down time, me time, our time, work time, work time, relaxing time ……

Good weather and had great company.

Even a bit of shopping (do groceries count?)

Made a RHUBARB crisp with the rhubarb my friend “T” gave me.

OMG so good.

So on this day ….. Tuesday …… LISTEN and BE KIND.

Often times, we do not listen to ourselves or to others.

So much rides on this two things.

Special Hello t0:  my sister ….. getting closer.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday. July 1st, 2017.

The sky is overcast on this 150th Birthday of this country known as Canada.

As with most countries on the planet our history has not been without bloodshed.

Our history has had the ENGLISH, FRENCH and SPANISH  coming over from across the ocean, and then laying claim to North America.

The U.S.A. and Canada share that part of history.

Over the past few hundred years people have left the United States and come to Canada.

People have also left Canada and moved to the United States.

There is so much we do not know and will never know.

It would be great on this 150th Birthday of CANADA that we could find a way to live together without debate or causing harm to one another.

We do live in relative peace, and I am so grateful that we do.

We need to find a way to move forward.

More and more people are leaving their homes all over the world for a multitude of reasons and coming to Canada.

It is so important that we find a way to live together in peace and harmony.

So on this 150th year …. this day that we celebrate Canada let us find a way to do the best for one another.

We all need to move on and make sure that all CANADIANS old and new are living good productive healthy lives.

We are all in this together.

We can do this …. we can.

Traditions over the last 150 years shows the peoples of this VAST country to be kind, generous, compassionate, and easy-going.

Please let us continue on this path and beyond.

Happy CANADA Day.

Special Hello: to my family and friends all over CANADA and the World.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 9th day of November, 2016.

Just spent the past two days at home sick.

I am always amazed at how one minute you can be feeling great and the next minute not.

Sunday night I made my lunch for work, got my clothes “laid” out and went to bed.

I wasn’t in bed five minutes when I got these uncontrollable shivers.

Never had those before and it was crazy I just could not warm up.

Later in the morning it shifted to be really hot.

Must have had a fever.

Feeling much better but not 100% today but I have to get back to work.

Busy time of the month at my job.

Two days was a lot to miss.

Last night before I went to bed the new President had not been elected.

Woke to Trump being the 45th President of the United States.

Surprised but not.

The people of the United States wanted CHANGE and change they now have.

I am always amazed by how badly someone can behave over and over and then gets the job.

Not just any job but the leader of a major country.

Not sure how this is going to play out but time will tell.

Perhaps he will surprise us all.

My blog is not to be a political platform for my personal views so I am going to leave it as this.

On a different front, weather wise our temperatures have been crazy warm for this time of year.

YAY, no snow as yet.

I hope that it can wait for a couple more weeks.

I hope that everyone is doing well.

Have a great day.

Special Hello to: all my American friends.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 4th day of July, 2016.

Happy 4th of July to all my American friends, and to ALL our neighbours in the United States.

Have a great day filled with kindness, love, respect and FUN.

Happy 4th of July, 2016.

The sun is shining this morning and there is a breeze.

We had a good weekend filled with sun and rain showers.

A good combination.

Yesterday my neighbour “S” and I managed to get our lawn both front and back cut in the morning just as it started to rain.

It looks so nice.

I pulled weeds in the back as they seem to come out of nowhere.

Job done.

Yesterday one of my posts on a community sale board was answered and a woman came and picked up a free box of toys.

Now if the items I have for sale would sell that would be wonderful.

Nice to have something gone as I am on my way to simple living.

Well almost time here to hit the road to catch the bus.

I am going to catch the later one this morning as I did not sleep last night until we hit the sofa for some zzz’s this morning.

Oh well ……

Tonight I should sleep good.

I hope that you have a great day wherever you are and whatever you are doing.

Be safe, be kind, be respectful and enjoy summer.

Special Hello to: my sister ……

Always Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 19th day of June, 2016.

The sky is a mix of clouds and sunshine.

Today marks “Father’s Day” here in Canada and the United States.

Happy Father’s Day to all those Dad everywhere.

Thank you for watching over your families and for being supportive.

Thank you for everything you do …. from tying shoe laces to reading bedtime stories to teaching us to drive a motor vehicle.

I was just thinking a few minutes ago about Alvin and that he will never have his own family.

We took that from him.

Our hearts and minds were in the right place or that is what we think.

I will admit that I never thought of things from that perspective.

Most dogs when they mate do not stay together anyway because of us.

I know most times there is  legitimate reasoning behind why they do not mate and have the babies together.

But it is sad.

Most animals in the wild stay together.

The male watches over the female and the young ones.

Hunting and protecting.

Just makes me sad that he will never have his own little boy to play with ….

Perhaps that is why most dogs treat the young ones differently than the ones there age or older.

Well food for thought.

Wishing every male on the planet a “Happy Father’s Day” whether you have procreated or not.

I am certain that most males at one point during their lifetime have been protective or helped a young one.

So on that basis I wish you all a Happy Father’s Day.

After all, we should be thinking about this earth as a community, and should be helping each other and every inhabitant, every living creature along the way.

We share this place.

We share this place together.

Well time to go and start making pancakes as my daughter is coming for a visit.

I think it is a good time to make pancakes for her visit.

Have a great day everyone ….

Special Hello to:  all the Dad’s out there … wherever you may be.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 26th day of November, 2015.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Neighbours …. have the best day.

It is actually quite nice outside this morning.

Supposed to be on a warming trend for the next few days including the weekend.

That is great.

Well I have unfortunate news ….. the rogue “guest” has finally made an appearance after November 11, 2015.

I have a trap that is not set in the bottom of the pantry.

There was peanut butter on it.

I thought that it was getting less and less and surely enough this morning it is all gone.

There are a couple traps set in the basement so hopefully we catch it.

I was starting to feel more at ease but with a cautionary ease.

I knew Mr. Alvin was sniffing something over the past couple of days.

I just wished that “mouse be gone.”

Go somewhere else, please.

I want to send hugs and prayers to my friends who had to put their cat down yesterday.

They had the cat for 15 years, I believe.

A member of the family.

Rest in peace, Pinkie…..

Well I guess I had better get this show on the road.

I wish everyone a happy and safe Thursday.

Remember to be kind and respectful to everyone.

Special Hello:  YOU.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 4th day of July, 2015.

First off ….. Happy 4th of July to our neighbours to the south in the United States.

I hope that you have an awesome celebration, be safe and have fun.

Thank you for being great neighbours.

It is cool this morning in Edmonton or cooler than the past few days.

A very welcome change ……

The breeze is bringing in “smoke” from some place, and at times it blocks the sun.

Smoke in the air just means that somewhere there are raging forest fires.

Our beautiful trees ….. some of our amazing forests on fire.

It is not just the trees that we lose it is the insects, birds and animal life of the forest.

Very very tragic and not replaceable.

Most forest fires are preventable.

It is just after 9:00 a.m. and actually quiet.

People are just beginning to wake up and go about their day.

I can hear the humming of vehicles travelling down the highway just a few blocks away but not in sight from my house.

Just heard a squeal from one of the many children in our neighbourhood.

Love the sound of children ….. laughing and having fun.

Now they are chattering away.

One of my neighbours is building a garage ….. soon we will hear the sound of hammering and sawing and such.

I love having the windows open upstairs on a cool morning as the coolness fills the rooms.

Today is a great day.

I have been looking forward to all week long.

My daughter is coming to pick up me and Alvin.

We are going to their house.

We girls are also going out to check out some antique shops, and whatever else we find.

Just an afternoon of adventures.

Road trip …..

I love just seeing what we can find.

Alvin will visit with my son-in-law and the puppies.

I know he misses them.

Well time to go and get this show on the road.

I hope that wherever you are … you are having the time of your life.

Enjoy each moment ….

Live your life …..

Be aware …..

Laugh …..

Have fun …..

Special Hello to: my sister and brothers who I think of each and every day.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 6th day of October, 2014.

Day Number Six …… wow ….. one week until Thanksgiving for we Canadians.

Our Neighbours to the south it will be later in November.

I have so much to be thankful for ……

Being grateful ….. being thankful for me is a 365 day routine.

Each and every morning I write in a gratitude journal ….

I realized very early on that we should always be grateful for all that we have ….

Even when I did not have money to buy notebooks to write them down; I always have been a grateful person.

We are so blessed living in this country ….

I am so blessed to be living in this country, Canada.

I am grateful that I wake up in the morning and that my legs carry me down the stairs.

I am grateful that I have eyes to see everything that surrounds me in my life and ears to hear the cooing of babies and Alvin’s “talking.”

I am grateful that I am employed and that I have my very own house.

I am grateful that I had room for my kids to move in with me and Alvin while their home is being built.

I am grateful for Nature and the Seasons.

I am grateful that my sister telephoned me last night to chat.

I am grateful that I will be able to have a cup of coffee when I get to work this morning.

I am grateful that I am surrounded by loving and kind people.

I am grateful that I can create things.

I am grateful to be alive.

I am so grateful that you are reading these words right now.

I hope that you have the most wonderful day ever.

I hope that you have dreams and that they all come true.

I hope that you keep on dreaming.

Special Hello to: my sister whose call last night made the weekend perfection.

Always, Carol and Alvin
