Last Days 2022 – December 29th

Good Morning ALL! How are you this morning? I would say that I am okay, we are okay. Not sure why but Mr. Alvin was up basically every two hours last night. He did have to pee when we first were up at 12:30, then at 2:30 (just up), then 3:00 (gave him his glucosamine chew), then I don’t remember if it was 4:00 or 5:00 then it was 6:15; needless to say we were not up to stay up until 9:15 a.m. I hope that we get our schedule worked out before next week. Working with such disruptive sleep is not much fun and I can say that from experience. Fingers crossed.

We had a quiet day. My daughter ordered a new iMac from Costco for me. It is to be delivered on next Tuesday. I also placed an order to Ricki’s for some new items. There is no way on this planet that I would pay their ticketed prices so with a massive sale; it was the perfect time to pick up a few things. I am very excited to have a new computer. This computer has served me well. She has been here with me for the past 13 years, I purchased her the summer after I moved to Edmonton. The poor girl is no longer able to take updates but that is okay. She is able to do what I need for the most part. A new computer is a huge deal. This will be my third iMac or is it the 4th? Oh my, now I am not sure. I do think it is the third one though. LOL.

Alvin and I went for a short walk yesterday. I had planned to walk at least to the park but not Alvin. So grateful for this nice weather. There appears to be clear skies developing on the horizon. Sunshine would be wonderful as it has been cloudy here for the past few days. I did some shovelling yesterday. Yes, I also went and paid for my eyeglasses and they should be here in a couple of weeks which is about the same time as I go back for another eye pressure test. Hopefully it has gone back to normal. I was reading that coffee is not good for high eye pressure. I also went to Shoppers and cashed in my “winning” lotto tickets/scratch tickets from Christmas for the grand total of $44.00 and a freeplay on the Lotto 649. YAY, me.

In a little while, I will give Mr. Alvin a haircut and bath.

Christmas Eve 2022 hanging out with Alvin, Aspen and Mi-Mi (aren’t they adorable). Alvin was snooping under the tree looking for his gifts to open.

I will post more Christmas photos tomorrow.

We hope that you have a great Thursday. Tonight, I am invited to a neighbours home for a visit.

Fingers crossed that Alvin’s haircut goes well.

Continuing to live this life with kindness, respect, compassion, patience, love, laughter, understanding, gratitude, focus, possibilities and coffee.

Always, Carol & Alvin

2021

Good Morning ALL! We hope that you are doing great on this Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Mid June. I am not sure if the weather has been playing havoc with Mr. Alvin but he did not sleep well last night and therefore Momma did not either. I am hoping that today will be quiet. The air is cool this morning which is refreshing from the hot muggy air of yesterday. The house is still hot but with the windows open it is cooling down. We slept with fans going all night. The lightning flashed and the thunder roared. At points in time when we were outside, I could see the stars. So there were clear times. Tis the season for summer rain storms. Yesterday near the end of my lunch break I hauled EVERY single one of my flowers pots into the garage. It took me a few minutes, actually over 10 minutes to put them in the safety of the garage. I always panic with respect to my flowers and plants when the forecast says “storm watch” with possible high winds and hail. So now I will have to bring them all out. It is windy and there are clouds but it has cooled down so they/we should be okay if they come out. I just think if I take all the time and money to plant them, I should look after them. Some of those pots are very heavy. The three larger black pots that were on the top deck closest to the garage door, I was able to slide them and then lift them over the door frame and into the garage. But the rest I had to lift so had to be careful. Perhaps getting some cool air will be good for us.

Yesterday it was too hot at noon for a walk so after work it had cooled down somewhat when there were clouds over head so we headed out for a walk. We did not get too far but did manage to get in a bit of a walk. Alvin drank his whole bottle of water on the walk which was about 1/2 of our regular one or close to it.

I am sorry but I am experiencing a bit of writer’s block due to being up and down all night. So I am going to sign off for today. We hope that you have a fantastic day. Hopefully you were able to sleep.

Continuing this journey called life with kindness, respect, compassion, passion, love and gratitude.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought I would add this ……. “hope”

It is a NEW YEAR.

Good Morning and Merry Christmas …..

Well we are having a snow shower at the moment.

Now isn’t that a way to begin a Friday.

Earlier and actually almost all night it was raining and I know this because I was up and out in it with Alvin.

Last night during his last “outing” into the backyard before bed ….. there was bottom end action.

I missed that he had “bottom end action” during one of the earlier escapes to the backyard.

Now how I missed it …. not sure.

But likely because I was holding a huge umbrella and because he happened to be in the grass that has now grown seemingly overnight.

Anyway, things are starting to return to normal.

Still a ways to go but leaning toward the right direction.

Thankfully as I cannot do a third night in a row ….. right now I am likely running on less than full engine capacity.

Not likely, I am …..

Hopefully the coffee can help out this morning.

Perhaps because Alvin was up and down – he will nap most of the day so that I can concentrate on work.

We shall see.

The other major “thing” in my life in the moment is the “fence between me and neighbours in other half of the duplex.”

One of the fence posts and 20 feet of the fence has rotted due to the stone work in their yard and because my deck is up against the fence.

Moisture gets in and cannot get out.

So we are having that replaced.

Long story short as I need to grab my coffee and start work shortly (needed to have a few minutes of sleep as virtually I had two last night).

The guy that is doing the work ….. had not factored in that the fence boards were rotten …. he only figured that likely the one post.

Anyway ….. second quote came in and I had a problem with not having a breakdown of pricing and the amount charged for labour.

So I asked some questions ….

Needless to say things did not go over well.

So I have more questions this morning to ask before asking for a requote.

Life in the fast lane.

Note to you and to me …. insist upon something in writing and ensure that you have that paper before starting or accepting any job.

Don’t let it come back and bite you in the butt.

Okay, I have done venting.

This is going to be an interesting day for sure.

SNOW, RAIN ….. contractor …. ARGH.

I hope that this finds you well.

Have a great day.

Life has to be lived with kindness and respect.

I/We, remain

As Always, Carol & Alvin

Living … One day at a time.

Welcome to Winter in Edmonton.

I used different filters on my phone to capture a slightly different look to WINTER.

Did it work?

I don’t know.

All I know is that SHOVELLING is now my reality once again.

Deck has now been shovelled however there remains the driveway and the front walk.

It is still snowing away so shovelling will be an all day thing for sure.

Alvin and I managed to have a lovely walk with Teddy and his Aunt J last night.

When we left home right after work it was misting but by the time we got back home it was full fledged raining.

So we were a bit wet.

But a nice walk all the same.

Likely the last one in the rain until spring.

Hopefully anyway.

If we have rain now it just means ICE for us all.

Whether driving or walking …. it will be icy.

Well time to get this show on the road.

Just taking a deep breathe and will remember to stretch before shovelling.

Earlier I was out in my pj’s shovelling as Alvin wanted to go out and he needed me.

No time to change so I threw on my coat and boots and away we went.

Stay safe and have a wonderful Saturday.

Teddy and Aunt J are coming for supper this evening and will arrive about mid afternoon.

So I had better get the laundry on as it is now almost 9:00 a.m.

Where did the time go?

Unfortunately for some unknown reason Alvin was up and down all night starting at 1:00 a.m.

Not sure why, maybe he sensed the snow.

Or maybe he just was having a bad night as we all do.

It was hard to get up until 8:00 a.m. – then I was up and out shovelling.

Happy Saturday.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 8th day of May, 2018.

One of the many times I/We were awake throughout the night and morning; we heard this strange noise.

It started out slowly and then got harder and faster.

In fact, quite loud at times.

Rain.

It was raining.

So nice to hear a spring rain.

The grass desperately needs some moisture.

Especially our grass/lawn.

It stopped for awhile and has now started to rain slowly.

Alvin had one of those nights and it does not appear that anything is wrong but he was up and down ALL night.

I had turned the lights out at 9:30 and shortly thereafter had fallen asleep.

At 10:00 p.m. – he woke me up.

We went downstairs as I thought he may need to go outside.

He went outside and walked around the deck and on the grass.

Sniffing and looking.

Finally after a few minutes – I coaxed him to come back inside.

This kept up all night although I did not get up every time.

I can honestly say that I am TIRED.

Perhaps the cup of coffee at work will help me spring back to life.

Oh, my poor Alvin.

He seems to be fine although he did give me that look …. you know the one.

I hope that all is well.

Perhaps it is only my imagination.

He will sleep today and get lots of rest while I on the other hand will try to get my work done.

Oh, well that happens when you are a parent whether to a child or to a puppy.

You are responsible for their well being.

I take this role very seriously.

My daughter turned out pretty terrific and I hope that I am doing a good job with Alvin.

He is resting on his blue blanket beside me.

He is never too far away when we are at the same location.

Well almost time to hit the road for work.

I am so happy to be carpooling these days.

Such a nice change.

Well on this Tuesday.

I hope that you are treating yourself with love, kindness and, respect and, that you are doing the same toward others.

If we are loving and kind and respectful the world is always a better place.

Special Hello to: all those folks out there who are trying their very best each day ….

Always, Carol & Alvin
