Second Half of the NEW YEAR

Good Morning Everyone.

For some of us this is the last day before a long weekend.

I am so grateful that most months we have a statutory holiday.

YAY, happy days.

I have a few large jobs to accomplish this weekend and it is the Labour Day weekend after all.

So why not?

I need to trim my tree in the front yard ( I only have one tree ).

My daughter is coming over on Sunday for a pancake breakfast and to help me give her brother Alvin a haircut and then I will give him a bath.

The blinds on the windows are calling out to me, “dust me, wash me.”

Then there will be the regular things such as dusting, vacuuming and laundry.

I was thinking last night and this morning about “hoarding.”

The book that I am reading is about a woman who is a hoarder.

The House We Grew Up In by Lisa Jewell.

Likely most of us can relate in some fashion.

I am not a hoarder regarding things around the house but I am a “hoarder” when it comes to emails and photos.

For some reason I cannot seem to “press the delete button” on the phone or camera or computer for the emails or photos.

I am the same with emails at work.

So I need to start FALL CLEAN UP 2020.

I challenge you all to join with me and go through your emails, your photos and clean up your electronic devices.

I will say honestly that I do delete some of the advertisements but not all.

I will say that honestly I have two emails and the second one I almost never check and it has a massive amount of emails.

Unfortunately I have to go through them all as I have saved photos to that email and cannot do a massive wipe.

I am aware it is my fault and my own doing ….. but I am pretty sure that I am not alone in this.

Please join me and let me know if you are like me and so many others.

By Christmas I am hoping to have cleaned my phone photo library of the bad shots, duplicate photos and videos.

I am hoping to have made a dent in the bad shots, duplicate shots and videos from my computer (now that will take longer likely than Christmas as I have over 40,000 photos and videos.

Email wise, I want to have done.

Big job ahead.

But I need to step away from watching television as I am finding that I am watching far too much.

So on that note, I leave you …..

Have an awesome weekend.

Please do not feel badly if you are like me and others, I find that life gets in the way sometimes, and when it is something that is not directly in front of you every minute; you, me, we are more than

likely going to procrastinate.

Human Nature.

That is okay.

We are going to fix this.

Now is the time.

I am with you.

Are you with me.

Supporting each other is most important.

Please send me comments along your “FALL CLEAN UP 2020” project.

We can do this together.

With kindness and respect and understanding, I try to live my life.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

It is a NEW YEAR.

Good Morning and Happy Father’s Day to ALL the Dads out there.

Whether you are fathering two-legged or four-legged babies, Happy Father’s Day.

Well here in Edmonton, the sky is filled to the brim with dark foreboding rain clouds.

Earlier at 3:47 a.m. there was a lightness to the sky as the sun began to rise.

There is a bit of a breeze this morning.

I have been listening to this same bird chirping since we were first up at 3:47 a.m.

When I was awake.

I did not stay up from 3:47 a.m. until now.

If I had this post would have been done, I would have showered, emptied the dishwasher, brought up all of the clothes hanging to dry from the basement, vacuumed the floors, washed the floors, dusted and cleaned the bathrooms.

Oh well, now I have all of those things to do minus making the bed and almost this post.

We will get things done, well actually, I will get things done.

Alvin does not help much.

Yesterday afternoon, I spent some time watching over the new kitten next door and his big brother Humphrey.

I snapped tons of photos and videos but forgot to ask if I could share them on my blog.

I always like to obtain permission before I post photos of others.

The kitten is oh so cute.

That little face.

I found that he loved being cradled, held tight and rocked.

I would love to see Alvin’s reaction to a kitten that small.

He loves cats but kittens, likely okay.

Humphrey is not loving the newest member of his family.

He growled and hissed.

The first time I went over to check on them, Humphrey was upstairs and I could not find the kitten anywhere.

I searched the house from top to bottom.

Really starting to get scared I texted and then called my neighbour.

Just when she picked up the phone ….. Humphrey came downstairs and stood by the front door and began to growl.

Suddenly I looked up and saw the kitten sitting up high behind a photo at the entrance by the door.

We all have these things beside the door when you come into the house.

They are like a box, flat surface and somewhat separates the entranceway.

Bogart was up on this “box” which is about four or so feet up.

The little one can jump.

Very much relieved, I told his Momma and then hung up.

After that the kitten followed Humphrey around the main floor until finally Humphrey went back upstairs.

I sat at the top of the stairs to see if the kitten would go up the stairs and finally after having something to eat, up he scrambled.

Before I left for home, I took Bogart back downstairs.

Played with him.

The next time I went over Humphrey stayed upstairs the whole time.

I visited with Humphrey.

Bogart came up and ran around under the bed.

Humphrey growled the whole time.

Finally I was able to grab the little one and we headed back downstairs for some snuggles.

I enjoyed playing with the kitten.

Well time to hit the shower and get this day going as it is almost 9:00 a.m.

There is something about a cloudy day that just makes me want to curl up and sleep.

We enjoyed our walk last night after supper.

Even though we had a hot day the evening was comfortable.

Happy Father’s Day to all you DADS.

Have a wonderful day with your families.

Living with kindness and respect.

Every day of our lives.

I/We shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin

It is a NEW YEAR.

Good Morning and Welcome to a bright almost sun filled morning sky as the sun begins to rise in the east.

I absolutely love sunrises.

The palest of pinks and oranges and yellows.

So delicate as they fill the horizon.

Looks like another beautiful day on the way.

Alvin and I are doing well.

I cannot believe, well yes I can, actually.

How wonderful the people are that I have surrounded myself with …. they are the best.

I have the best siblings, daughter and son-in-law and friends.

Everyone has been so great.

My friends that live nearby have been so great checking to see if I need anything from the grocery store.

My family checks on me and I on them.

Likely not enough.

I am working from home so that fills a good chunk of the day.

We had a great walk yesterday after work.

Humphrey spent the day with us.

His Mom took him to the Vet for a 3:30 p.m. appointment and they were able to fix him up.

Humphrey will be on antibiotics for a bit but he was happy when it was all over.

Thank goodness.

A friend picked me up more groceries yesterday and another dropped off some eggs.

We chatted as we social distanced ourselves from each other.

No hugs at this time.

Another friend down the street called to see how Alvin and I were doing.

They are older than me and they still worry about us.

I worry about them but they are well and that is great news.

I can smell the coffee perking and I am happy to have freshly ground coffee beans.

I am so grateful for that little PLUTO video, noticed it was called PLUTO LIVING.

Please google it.

PLUTO is this little dog and he speaks with kind words for us all.

I am not certain who does the voice, perhaps his Momma but it is so well done.

A reminder to us all.

Look after your friends and neighbours and family.

The seniors really our help at this time, egads I am in some circles considered to be a senior.

But I am doing great.

Check in on folks.

If you know of someone struggling and you can give them even a couple of cans of beans or veggies or a loaf of bread of some bathroom tissue, do it.

If we all did this we could feed a nation.

We can all share something of what we have whether it be inspiration, kind gestures, food goods, something.

Well I am getting close to time to head downstairs and grab some coffee.

THe smell is increDible …. as if wafts up the stairs.

My Alvin is adjusting to this all ….

He knows when his blankets are close to the computer by the window I am writing my post.

Then when I move them he knows I am working.

He has really been great through all of this.

He does sometimes jump up from a nap when my cell phone rings (work line).

I hope that you are getting some exercise and fresh air.

Even when we are self isolating it is good to go for a walk.

Just stay away from folks.

You can still say HELLO from a distance.

Eat right.

It is hard to stay away from the comfort food.

A little here and there is okay.

Have a great Thursday.

I hope that you and your family are doing well.

Be kind to each other.

We need each other at this time and always.

This too, shall pass.

We are strong.

Support each other.

With kindness and respect.

With only kindness and respect to you,

Always, Carol & Alvin

P.S. please remember to laugh…..

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 26th day of April, 2019.

Sunrise this morning is partially covered by a deep blue cloud bank.

The forecast for this weekend in Edmonton is cooler and wet.

We could use some rain.

Last night after work my daughter picked me up and gave me a ride home.

I absolutely love our conversations in the car ride home.

Trying to squeeze in and also to remember every bit of news that we can.

There is usually a bout of laughter about something or other.

I love my girl very very much.

We made a couple of stops including one at Alvin’s Vet to pick up some food for him before reaching home.

I was surprised as the cost of his food had increased by almost $3.00 per bag.

So lovely that everything rises in our daily lives but our income.

Why is that?

I often wonder how big families afford to buy food, good food?

Anyway ….. just thinking.

We had a quick visit at the house.

One of the other stops we made or rather I went into the store while I was waiting for my girl …. BON TON BAKERY.

They have been in business for over 60 years.

I could see why.  Busy place.

The baked goods smelled so delicious.

WOW, it was amazing.

I ended up buying a few things …. a loaf of bread, 1/2 dozen cinnamon buns, two muffins and an oatmeal raisin cookie.

I know it was an odd mix of items.

A bunch of carbs ….. do the raisins count to fruit?

They even gave us a lovely fresh “FRENCH BAQUETTE” as we were leaving the store.

As my daughter was leaving the phone rang and it was our friend P wondering about a walk.

Ten minutes later I was changed, had Alvin in his harness and out the door (his water bottle, too).

We walked all about the big lake to the north of us ….. we walked for about 50 minutes.

On the way home I stopped at the mailbox as we had a parcel waiting for us.

I even managed to carry the parcel (which was big), some mail, Alvin’s water bottle and of course, the boy.

The boy I did not carry, though.

Anyway home we opened the parcel which for Alvin could not happen fast enough.

He barked and barked.

I took out his present from our friend V and placed it on the floor.

He was able to get partially opened and then needed some help.

I took some video and photos.

Alvin got a can of some nice wet food and a toy.

He was happy.

I got well V’s famous cheese buns, regular buns, a carrot cake in the shape of Mrs. Rabbit.

The carrot cake is too die for …… so good.

I had to stay away from the fridge after the first piece.

A bunch of chocolates all kinds, a handmade dish cloth, a fancy sponge and more.

Well I see carbs in my near future and my belly is going “oh, no.”

Well I would have posted some photos but as I was going to do so found that my camera needs a change to the battery pack.

I do not have a spare one at the moment.

So no photos.

Well time to leave for work.

I hope that you have an awesome Friday.

Teddy comes tomorrow …. that always makes me and Alvin extra happy.

Happy Friday.

Special Hello to: our friend “V” who always spoils us.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 22nd day of January, 2019.

At least I think it is the 22nd day.

Still dark out and feels odd being home again.

So happy that I took another day.

Having a good visit with my nephew.

We did some running around yesterday.

I had a nice walk with Mr. Alvin.

We are going to a movie at the MALL today.

I think we are going to see AQUA MAN.

I am disappointed as my daughter sent me a whole bunch of photos and videos from Alvin’s birthday party but I am unable to get them onto my computer.

Will have to check further when I have more time.

I do not wish to spend a bunch of time on the computer when I have computer.

I hope that you are having a great day.

Happy Tuesday.

Nice weather here.

So grateful.

Back to work tomorrow, argh.

Oh well, gotta work.

Special Hello to: my sister, sorry, it got too late to call.  If okay, how about Friday night.

Always, Carol & Alvin
