Living … One day at a time.

Good Morning All,

Thursday it is.

Yesterday turned out to be great weatherwise.

On our walk I just wore a sweater, yay.

The sun did shine.

After work I picked up Humphrey as his Mom was busy after work.

Then started supper as the TELUS service person was to arrive somewhere between 5-7 p.m.

Lucky for me he was at my house by 5:19 p.m. and finished everything and gone by 6:03 p.m.

So I quickly scooped up Mr. Alvin and went for a short walk as we did not wish to leave Sir Humphrey alone for too long.

I was pleasantly surprised when I learned from the TELUS person that I would not in fact lose my series scheduling.

Yes, I lost the few shows that I did not manage to watch from the old PVR but I was so OVER THE MOON pleased that I did not have to set up the scheduling again.

So it worked out.

Humphrey was very intrigued by this young man, he followed him and watched him as he worked.

Alvin he was excited and yes, barked some but behaved pretty well all things considered.

I really thought it was cute when Humphrey walked over to the young man’s bag and looked in.

He also laid on the floor in the office while he was swapping out the MODEM and just watched intently.

I was able to watch the two shows I missed on the TELUS ON DEMAND.

YAY, me.

We had a great night ….. pretty quiet and that is always great on a Wednesday.

You may wonder why I repeat my message, this message everyday?

About being kind and respectful.

It is a reminder to me mostly.

As some days, maybe most days it is easy to lose the kindness and respect aspect.

Sometimes I am disappointed in my behaviour but I always try to do better.

After all, I am only perfect in that I am not.

Well almost time to leave.

There be poop to pick up in the backyard.

Yup, that will always bring one back to earth.

Yes, it will.

I hope that you are having a great Thursday whether you are just starting, half way through or at the end.

Wherever you are….. whenever you are ….. have a wonderful day.

With kindness and respect I shall be me.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 15th day of January, 2019.

Another pretty nice today temperature wise but not as beautiful as yesterday.

Alvin and I soaked in every minute of our walk before supper last night.

Taking into account that not quite at the half way point, Mr. Alvin whined to go home.

I told him firmly “that we needed to walk” and eventually he carried on.

Although he did try about three times to get me to turn around.

I stood my ground.

Most times, I cave and let him lead.

Last night it was just so perfect for walking that we needed to go.

We never know what the next evening will bring.

If it is really COLD, SNOWING or ICY …. we stay home.

A bit of snow is okay but Alvin is just getting over an ear infection and do not want him to get his ears wet.

SNOW inside and not dried will give him an yeast infection.

Anyway we completed our walk and I was happy.

After supper, Humphrey the Cat came to spend the evening with us.

His Mom was going to dance classes.

She wants him to get used to being somewhere else other than home.

Also to get more used to Alvin.

Being outside together or with both of us here for a few minutes is one thing but with Humphrey’s Mom not here and just us, well that could be something totally different.

So Humphrey arrived about 6:30 p.m.

I made sure that I had had supper and tidied up so that I could keep an eye on the boys.

Different than two dogs.

I do not wish Humphrey to take a swipe at Alvin with his sharp claws.

Even has never given any indication but at the end of the day they are animals and just one sniff out of place could cause harm.

So Humphrey checked out upstairs.

He walked around the main floor.

Looked out the window.

Laid on the mat by the front door.

Stretched on Alvin’s bed (floor).

He liked going upstairs and I found that he was clawing at the carpet so eventually I blocked off the upstairs.

Cannot have the carpet pulled apart.

I did find one strand of carpet, oh well.

He laid on the big brown chair.

I laid a blanket down so he could snuggle.

He wanted up on the sofa beside me and eventually did so.

I had Mr. Alvin on one side and him on the other.

Alvin pretty much was anxious for a good part of the evening.

When Alvin went outside – Humphrey wanted to go outside.

When the boys were surrounding me on the sofa, I had been on the tablet.

Humphrey is used to his Momma’s iPad so he was watching things.

Eventually I set it in front of him and just put the front screen saver on …. he placed his paws on the screen.

He so intently watched what was going on.

It was so cute.

At one point I managed to snap some photos on the tablet’s camera.

Will have to add them to the computer at some point.

Humphrey is a cute boy.

Near the end of the evening Humphrey jumped up on Mr. Alvin’s most favourite chair and I thought that Alvin was going to have coronary.

He did not run over but he was very anxious.

Poor boy.

I did catch a photo of Humphrey in the brown chair and Alvin in his chair directly across from one another.

Alvin was looking out the window.

It was a different kind of evening for us but interesting.

Alvin did growl once or twice.

Well it is almost time to go.

I was up late and tried to squeeze as many minutes on the sofa as I could.

I hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Special Hello to: all my friends who have cats and dogs.

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 14th day of December, 2016.

Well there are only “10” sleeps until Christmas Eve.

One of the two most exciting days of the year.

I also was asked by one of my neighbours to check in on a young cat that she is sitting for this week.

OMG, he is pure black, friendly and was so cute.

It was a change from Mr. Alvin …… Alvin is cute, too.

I was reading over blogs from around this date from years ago.

The following one is from December 16, 2010 – mine and Alvin’s first Christmas together.

I think it is always interesting to check back and see what was happening this date two, three or six years ago.

It’s CHRISTMAS TIME !!!

Wishing everyone a safe and fun Holiday Season.

May you be surrounded by love and laughter.

May hot chocolate warm your tummy ……

Pull out that old board game and play with your kids.

Fill a tin or other container full of your holiday baking

Take it to a neighbour, friend or give it to someone you meet just walking down the street.

Grab some friends and family and go sing Christmas Carols at a Seniors Home or in your Neighbourhood.

Put a Christmas movie in the DVD player, and call the neighbourhood children to come in and watch.

Take a morning or afternoon and surprise someone by cleaning their house.

P.S. make sure that you have a key !!!

Shovel someone’s walk.

Put a holiday CD in the player and crank it up and dance around the house …..

Give your doggie a bath (if you have one) …… Merry Christmas…

Take the time to do something special for a family member or friend or a neighbour.

Go to a coffee place and purchase several coffee cards with a free cup of coffee or hot chocolate on each one …

Then go out in the world and hand them out ….. Merry Christmas.

You can also take them to your neighbourhood shops ….. give them to all those special people that work so hard in retail….

We all have an extra pair of mittens, scarf, toque or coat that we could donate to someone in need.

Drop off some canned goods at your local food bank.

I guess at the end of the day …… just go out and spread LOVE to the World.

We have so much – please share.

Remember to smile at everyone you meet all day long…..

Let’s make this the most wonderful Christmas ever !!!

Merry Christmas Everyone…..

Special Hello to: All my Friends and Family all over the world.

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 6th day of August, 2016.

The sun is shining.

The morning air still has a crispness to it with the coolness of the breeze.

I can hear magpies squawking away.

There is a hum of traffic from the highway that goes around our city.

This is Saturday morning in Edmonton.

My house is quiet except for the clicking sound from the keyboard as I type these words.

Alvin is curled up at the end of our bed waiting patiently for me to finish and get this day going.

Last night we watched part of the open ceremonies from Rio De Janeiro ….. very colourful and different.

I especially enjoyed how they incorporated a piece of the ceremony about the ENVIRONMENT.

The whole premise of the ceremonies was about us all, mankind.

Maybe with an audience of about three billion people it will open some eyes.

I love how they gave each of the 11,000 athletes a sapling to plant.

11,000 trees, how splendid.

We, I did not watch it all as it got too late for me but I recorded it to watch later.

Well done Rio.

Well two days before I am back to work for a couple of days and then off for the rest of the week.

Nice short work week – two days.

Wouldn’t that be nice for always.

I baked some bran muffins and infused them with hydrated fruit tea from my collection of Steeped Tea.

They turned out so yummy.

Who would think that you could add tea to muffins.

When they were baking it seemed glorious in the house.

Alvin really wanted some.

But did not think muffins would be a good thing for him.

He is such a foodie.

Well time to get going here.

Check the lotto tickets.

Do some laundry.

Change bedding …..

Make coffee for me and my neighbour “S” ……

Happy Saturday everyone.

Enjoy your weekend.

Special Hello to: all my friends all over the world.

Always, Carol and Alvin

P.S.  Alvin is no longer on the bed, I guess he decided to be closer to me as he is lying outside the office door.  He truly is a Momma’s boy.  Gotta love that little guy.
