Almost Christmas 2020

Good Morning ALL. How are you doing on this Sunday morning? We are now at FOUR sleeps until Christmas Eve Day. As I look out of the office window there is a breeze as the bare tree branches wave back and forth against the painted yellows, pinks and blue colours of the sunrise. What a beautiful morning sky. Well folks here we are four days away. Four days to work with one of them the late shift of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday. I am grateful that I am ready for the big day. I baked more Sugar Cookies on Friday night and I will be icing them today. Between Friday and yesterday the laundry was done. Most of the cleaning done. Today I am going to steam mop the floors, ice the cookies, give Alvin a trim with just the scissors and trim my bangs. We are going for a walk. We elected or rather I elected not to yesterday with the ice. So our virtual Christmas party last night with my friends Signe and Gillian was awesome. We laughed so hard and chatted. Just like we always do. There was a bit of drinking happening and gift opening. I love my friends. I never would have thought that we would be having our annual Christmas get together virtually via TEAMS. Heck this time last year I had never heard of TEAMS and the word “virtual” was not used regular in my vocabulary. It is strange how things can change in almost a blink of the eye. Yesterday, our friend Pauline called and dropped our Christmas gift off (front step short visit) and we gave her theirs and some baked treats that I had waiting in the freezer for her. Funny how two of my gifts from my girl friends were two items that I had been saying that I would like …. one being new pj’s and the other hand cream. I got them both. Maybe I need to think bigger than hand cream and pj’s. LOL. I guess it does not hurt. Perhaps time to do a vision board. I have this massive bulletin board that almost fills the wall behind my computer. I would see it everyday. I think that I will do that during my Christmas break. We are on restrictions that will take us through Christmas and into January so there will be time to fill in where we cannot visit with friends. Back to the “virtual Christma party” – I highly recommend it. Done from the comfort of your own home and no driving necessary. I am not saying that I would prefer this but when you are not able for whatever the reason to see each other in person – this is the next best thing. Can you imagine if this pandemic had hit even a decade ago we did not have near the technology that we have now! We are blessed.

Well I have a friend stopping by at 10:00 to pick up a bag of tea. You see I had placed a tea order near the end of November and it still has not arrived. So many companies are struggling to get product and then to have shipped out in some semblance of good delivery times. When my friend texted me last night as one of the items she had ordered was meant for a gift – although I did not have that exact tea in my “tea cupboard” I did have something else that she could replace it with. She is picking it up this morning. Good customer service at anytime is important. I hope the orders come soon but in the meantime she will have something to give to another friend with her Christmas gift. As I told my friend, “this is on me.”

I believe that this year, this Christmas it is more important than ever before to be generous and go above and beyond. Everyone is suffering in some capacity this season. We need to step up. Be supportive and be giving. We all need a bit of light during these somewhat dark times.

So on that note, I am going to get dressed and get this day going. Get those cookies iced, wash some floors and lasso Mr. Alvin for a bit of a trim. That should be interesting.

Be safe out there. Only go out if you really need to, okay. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Continue to live with kindness, respect and compassion for all others.

Always, Carol & Mr. Alvin ……

Second Half of the NEW YEAR.

Welcome to Thursday, July 23, 2020.

Wow, not many days left in July 2020.

The time just seems to zip by.

We had rain earlier and was raining when we were up at 4:30.

I did not hear any thunder but then again, I had the electric fan running most of the night.

Slept in our bed last night and we both were awake at 4:30, thankfully did not stay up.

Makes for an early night if up that early.

Although if it had not been raining the sun would have been coming up.

It is muggy in the office this morning even with the windows open.

Looks like more rain.

So how are we all doing at almost the end of 5 months since this COVID19 virus became so much on our radar.

Perhaps on some more so than others.

With every country on the planet affected by COVID19 which I believe is the majority at this point; every different leader and government has taken a different approach.

Some were fast to shut down out of country air travel.

Others were not.

There were countries that took very cautious approaches and with diligence they were able to lower the amount of cases and deaths.

While others just seemed to stand by and hope for the best.

No one knows at this point the real numbers because they are only as good as they are reported.

Also I read some place that countries were initially treating any deaths as COVID19 and not doing any autopsies.

That is scary but sort of understandable in a way.

Anyway, if we all listen to our government health officials we can make a difference.

In public wear a mask.

Wash your hands often.

Social Distancing.

Just be careful.

To be honest since I came home to work on March 19, 2020 – the most people at one time that I have been around other than me is 3.

So any numbers larger than that …. honestly kind of freak me out.

I know that this is because I have not been out to the grocery stores and in public.

So this is something that I will have to get used to and be prepared with.

Food for thought.

If we do not work together …. we fall apart.

Well time to head to work.

Alvin is doing much better, thankfully.

I think the second set of medication has made a huge difference.

Time will tell when that medication has all been taken.

I hope that you are safe and in good health.

Living with kindness and respect.

I/We, shall remain,

As Always, Carol & Alvin
