Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Tuesday the 15th day of May, 2018.

Another gorgeous day has begun.

The sun is shining and the sky is blue.

We are up.

Are you?

Sorry I could not resist.

A little rhythm to start the day.

I guess not actual a rhythm, but I love this word.

This is a short work week for me.

A busy fun weekend is only a few short days away.

I booked Friday and Tuesday off so I will have a five day weekend.

Alvin has his regular Dr. appointment on Friday morning.

The grand-pups will spend the day or so with us on Saturday as the kids are attending a wedding.

Actually my son-in-law is in the wedding party.

Exciting.

Their friends are getting married the same day as the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

I will be up bright and early to watch the wedding.

There is just something about a Royal Wedding.

I love watching them …. reminds me of the Fairy Tales that I read as a child.

The Prince …. the Princess ….. the dress …… happily ever after.

One could dream.

Teddy’s Aunt J will be visiting his house this long weekend so we are going to squeeze in a visit with her.

I have plans to do some spring cleaning in the garage.

Lots to do.

Will work extra hard to get my desk all cleared off before I leave so that it does not take my breath away when I return.

Actually things are going well at work.

YAY.

Well here we go.

Almost time to leave for work.

Alvin is on his blue blanket until I click on “off” on the computer and he seems to know.

Have a great day.

Special Hello to:  all those folks who are anxiously awaiting the Royal Wedding ……

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 14th day of May, 2018.

Another gorgeous warm (hot) day on the way.

Alvin and I had a wonderful weekend.

We accomplished most of our items on the TO DO LIST.

Okay, perhaps it was “I” accomplished most of the items on the TO DO LIST.

But Alvin gives me great support as he is with me every step of the way.

With the exception of the trash pick up yesterday morning.

I was pleasantly surprised to fill only 1/2 of a bag and my arm was grateful.

I would love to have him along but cannot seem to figure out how to hold a leash, a large garbage bag and one of those pickers.

Two many things, too much room for error or accidents.

Alvin stayed at home relaxing when I went to finish up my self-determined trash route.

It feels good to get it finished before the street sweepers arrive.

I do not like when bits of garbage get swept down the storm drain.

Anyway it is done and just will maintain.

Yesterday was Mother’s Day.

My daughter came over for a pancake breakfast.

We had a great visit as we always do.

She located her most recent iPod which is a step or three up from the one that I have.

As she said she had it when she purchased her first flip phone.

The new old iPod will give me access to the internet and FB to send messages if there is WiFi.

So that will be nice.

Almost like having a cell phone.

She took me to the grocery store while she went to the drugstore.

I picked up mainly fruits and veggies.

Lots of folks picking up bouquets of flowers in the store.

After all, it was Mother’s Day.

What Mother does not enjoy flowers.

Only the ones with floral allergies.

Snicker, snicker.

After my daughter dropped me off and visited for bit, she was gone back home once again.

Time always flies when she comes to see us.

The rest of the day was great ….. watched a couple of shows that I had recorded ….. made oatmeal for a few days ….. made lunch for work today.

Had supper.

My neighbour gave me a lavender plant.

Will be re potting it tonight.

It is beautiful.

We waited until a bit later to go for a walk.

Saw two of our friends and stopped for a short visit and of course, Alvin received a treat.

Perfect day …. some work and some play.

Well here we go again.

Time to put the finishing touches on before leaving for work.

Alvin looks so cute with his black and white fur laying on a baby blue blanket.

Gotta love that guy and of course, I do.

Have a wonderful day.

I hope that you can make all of our dreams come true.

I wish you great health and joy.

Happy Monday.

Special Hello to: all you puppy lovers out there …. thank you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 12th day of May, 2018.

The sun is up although there appear to be some clouds in the sky as it is not bright as I look out of my office window.

We were up after 5:00 a.m. – thank you Alvin.

Then I set the alarm for 8:00 a.m. – we were up later than usual.

Last night when we went for a walk after our supper which was later than usual.

I did not have leftovers so made supper from scratch and while it was cooking I did some laundry and small chores.

It was really nice out last night.

I made the mistake of somehow thinking that it was cooler than it was and dressed in warmer clothing.

ARGH.

We bumped into many friends along the way.

AS we were visiting with one friend who was out working in her back yard other friends came along.

We joined them for a walk.

They live only two doors away from the woman that we were visiting by her back fence.

It was nice to walk and chat.

Well we had a nice surprise last night as Teddy’s Mom messaged me on FB to see if Teddy could come over today.

She has to work unexpectedly and her husband is going to the farm.

Absolutely, I told her.

Alvin will be most happy to see Teddy as will I.

That little guy is infectious, in a good way.

Also my neighbour called at work to ask if I could check in on Humphrey (the cat) and Cinder (the gecko).

Of course, said I.

I will be going over there shortly to feed Humphrey and check on Cinder.

Humphrey likes to snuggle and look out of the window.

So should open the window while it is cool.

Well as there are things to do here – I should get going.

Nothing wild and crazy.

Which is likely a good thing.

Just so happy it is the weekend and grateful for the amount of work that I accomplished this week at work.

Sometimes working through breaks pays off.

I know that I should not but to be basically caught up is a miracle.

One that makes me happy and less stressed as I go into the weekend.

I also took a couple of extra days off around the long weekend so being in this state will be good.

Otherwise coming back to a stack of work – not so nice.

Time to get this show on the road.

I want to go and wash a load of towels.

Get dressed and have breakfast.

Empty the dishwasher, clean the main floor etc. before Teddy arrives.

If time allows perhaps a walk to the park.

Looking forward to a nice Saturday.

Special Hello to: YOU, thank you and enjoy this day.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 4th day of May, 2018.

Happy Birthday to one of my dear friends back in Saskatchewan.

She has always treated me like a sister, one of the family.

Truly a great great family so kind, generous and loving.

Looks like the sun is beginning to rise in the morning sky.

There are some clouds but perhaps they will dissipate in the next few hours.

I know we need rain but at night would be perfect.

Tomorrow I must get out and do the Neighbourhood TRASH pickup.

It has to get done soon before the street sweepers come out.

Then some of it gets pushed into the storm drains.

Tomorrow morning NO MATTER WHAT, I will be donning my gloves, old jacket and shoes, a supply of garbage bags and my handy dandy trash picker uppers.

Alvin has now made lying on the blanket beside me in the office part of the routine.

I drape the blanket over my office chair and just before I sit down I place it beside the chair for Alvin.

Such a cutie pie.

Well it appears to be coming up to be busy weekend.

Lots of work to do.

Regular laundry and cleaning.

The TRASH pick up.

The weather forecast is nice for tomorrow and Sunday.

Excited for that.

With all of my idols writing books, movies and the like – I am inspired to get my head out of the sand and write more.

There are always those old tapes playing over and over in my mind.

Am I good enough?

Can I do it?

Would anyone read my book?

Stuff like that.

Typical.

But sometimes you just have to get off the pot and DO IT.

Right.

You will never know until you try.

This can be said for most of us.

There will always be that dreaded speech, writing project or deadline of any kind that DRIVES US MAD.

Stop playing those tapes, they have been erased.

They have been replaced.

They no longer exist.

You and I are free to DO and BE whatever we chose.

Go forth …. give ’em something to think about.

Well almost time to get going … finish up the finishing up.

My tea order arrived last night and I am delivering to my friends/co-workers today.

So grateful to the folks that help support my business.

Special Hello to: the Birthday Girl ….. Happy Birthday Sis.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 28th day of April, 2018.

The sun is shining brightly as it is almost 7:30 a.m.

Alvin and I have been up for awhile now.

I switched my winter clothes with my summer clothes – one closet to the other.

DONE.

I had the most productive evening last night after work:  Alvin had his supper, raked the back yard, spray washed the deck, washed two loads of laundry, moved my winter coats and boots to the basement

and moved summer jackets to the front closet, brought out most of the patio/deck furniture, made coffee for me and my neighbour, supper, submitted a tea order, did dishes by hand, cleaned the house a bit and was

in bed by 10:10 p.m.

With the cleaning of the deck last night – managed to spray wash myself.

The end on the garden hose is slightly cracked making it impossible to connect the sprayer properly.

So I got wet along with my neighbour who was in her yard.

She came over to help me and I ended up using her hose to clean the deck.

What a night …. thankfully it was really warm so after the initial blast of cold water, I was fine and dried quickly.

This morning our little friend TEDDY is coming to spend the day with us as his parents travel outside the City of Edmonton to their farm.

I wanted to have most of my chores completed so that I had time to spend quality time with Alvin and Teddy.

The deck and back yard are all cleaned up so they can play before it gets to hot.

Supposed to be +27 degrees celsius today.

My neighbour is going to help me put out the base for the one patio table and lift the other table down to the deck area closest to the house.

Then we will be ready for sitting outside.

I have an idea for a short story so am making notes.

Time to have breakfast before our company arrives.

Tomorrow I am going to clean up the trash in the neighbourhood and pick up a few things at the grocery store.

Also rake the front lawn.

Always lots to do.

Soon the perennials will begin to grow, I sure hope so, anyway.

Looking forward to the buds on the trees.

I am inspired by the sunlight and Teddy’s arrival.

He is a little bundle of energy that makes you want to get up and go.

I hope that you all have an awesome weekend.

May the “sunlight” be with you.

Happy Saturday.

Special Hello to: my family and friends, who are my “sunlight.”
Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 13th day of April, 2018.

Yes, it is Friday the 13th.

Woke up to snow and it is still coming down.

Very fine …. almost like rain.

ARGH.

This was my note re the weather  from Friday, April 14, 2017

Well on a weather note:  SNOW.

Yesterday it was a snow/rain mix.

Today it is SNOW.

This was my note re the weather from Friday, April 15, 2017

No mention of snow.

It is so great to see the sunrise on my way to work.

The sky is afire in yellows, oranges and reds.

So pretty.

I have had to start wearing my sunglasses when I get onto the bus as it becomes so bright at one point during the ride.

Well it looks like it will be all about the weather today.

To many thoughts pointing in that direction.

Time to go and catch the bus for work.

Last day of the work week for me and a long weekend to boot.

Looking forward to this weekend as always for time with Alvin and friends.

Special Hello to: my sister

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 27th day of March, 2018.

The air feels a bit cooler this morning.

It is dark now.

ONCE I get outside I will be able to tell if clear skies are on the agenda for today or if cloudy ones.

What a great weekend.

Alvin and I enjoyed an even longer walk yesterday.

So grateful that the weather is improving.

It feels like a bright yellow day is on the way.

Daffodils are perfection.

So intricate and delicate.

Beautiful.

Last night I heard a goose honk as it flew by.

Have not heard that sound for what seems like forever.

I can hardly wait to see fluffy baby geese, goslings.

Like the ones that we saw last spring.

Time flies by.

Of course, guess what time once again …. time to go and catch the bus to work.

I wish you a wonderful Monday.

Happy Day.

Full of bright, sunny skies.

Special Hello to: my sister.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 25th day of March, 2018.

The sky is overcast and the sunshine is no where to see seen.

It is quiet in the house except for the sounds of the furnace running heating the house, and

the sound of my fingers tapping on the keyboard writing these words.

Alvin is resting on the carpet in the hallway outside the office door.

He is never far away from me.

Yesterday we enjoyed the longest walk in weeks or rather months.

We are so happy that the snow and ice are melting away.

We are so grateful that spring is here and summer soon to follow.

I enjoyed a coffee date with two of my neighbourhood girl friends.

Catching up on each other’s news.

We laugh and sometimes we even cry.

The girls both gave me some Easter treats, I am so spoiled.

We had a grand time.

Sometimes I wished that it would last forever.

So it is now Sunday.

The coffee is brewed.

The laundry is done.

Dusting and cleaning check.

Some ice chipping was accomplished.

I see a quiet lovely Sunday in store for us.

We will walk this afternoon.

As I sit here writing these words, I feel so grateful to be here at this very moment.

I am grateful to be in good health and to be surrounded by awesome family and friends.

I am so grateful to have Alvin as a loyal companion.

I am so grateful to have this beautiful house and a job.

So many blessings.

Wishing you all a beautiful, happy, relaxing Sunday.

No matter whether or not the sun is shining or there are clouds in the sky, I wish you good health, much joy, love and laughter on this day and always.

Special Hello to:  my brothers ….. thank you.

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 19th day of March, 2018.

One more day until it is officially SPRING.

YAY.

The snow has stopped falling.

Thank goodness.

Well this weekend was truly all about the animals.

I spent a good amount of time keeping HUMPHREY the cat, company.

He is such a sweetie.

Cuddly.

I loved that he places his paw on your leg when he wants more “snuggles.”

Smart cat.

I also had the great pleasure of meeting two doggies.

Both very much pups.

One six months and the other I think was 1.5 years old.

The six month old is named LUNA and she is a pure-bred Lab.

The 1.5 year old is named ZEUS and he is a husky with the most beautiful blue eyes.

LUNA is just learning and ZEUS already knows.

I was helping my neighbour has she has been looking after the two pups along with a cat named INUBUS (not quite sure of the spelling).

The cat is older than the dogs and he is black.

I have met him before and have actually helped look after him.

LUNA likes to jump up and is full of energy.

ZEUS knows not to jump up but is too is full of energy but he listens well.

We had to go in the truck and my neighbour asked for my help.

LUNA does not enjoy a car ride but ZEUS would ride for hours and love it.

Beautiful boys and girl.

So when I arrived back home – Mr. Alvin came to greet me at the door.

He sniffed and sniffed and sniffed.

He knew that I had been “temporarily unfaithful” at least in his eyes.

Two that he did not know.

LUNA and ZEUS were out in my neighbour’s back yard here and there last night and he knew it.

I would said that he is definitely a jealous guy.

I just gave him extra snuggles and tried to build his confidence back up.

Well here we go again – time to go and catch the bus for work.

I hope that you had an awesome weekend.

Have a great Monday.

Special Hello to: all those people who have fur babies ….

Always, Carol & Alvin

Thought for the day …..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 9th day of March, 2018.

Lately the mornings start out on the cool side but warm up throughout the day.

I heard a rumour that we were supposed to have double digit plus temperatures next week.

But last night when I checked out the long range forecast on the weather channel, that was not the case.

Time will tell.

We are getting close to spring.

I believe that might have something to do with Mr. Alvin’s sleep habits.

He was up several times last night.

We even went to bed early which clearly has helped me feel even remotely “alert” this morning.

I will say that the first time he did go to the bathroom and then later, too.

Maybe just an off week.

Oh well, I am glad that today is Friday.

We enjoyed a nice walk last night.

On our walk we bumped into one of our friends just arriving home.

I asked about the family and said that they were good except for some bad news.

His mother-in-law had passed away.

He was glad that she had gone and spent some time with her mother before she passed.

I also found out that their doggie had passed away last summer.

I know that it has been awhile since we spoke …. time flies.

This was a huge reminder that I need to go and visit people, my friends in the neighbourhood.

Well time to go and catch the bus.

I hope that you all have an awesome day.

Good reminder to us all, check in with your friends and family a bit more often.

Time has a way of getting away on us.

Happy Friday.

Special Hello to: my friends who lost their Mother and doggie.  In my thoughts.

Always, Carol & Alvin
