Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 8th day of August, 2014.

Happy Birthday to my niece-in-law “S” …. wishing you a great Birthday.

It is overcast and cool here in Edmonton on the day before my 57th Birthday.

I had the most wonderful time last night with my friends “K” and “K” from Bath & Body Works.

One of the K’s and I went shopping first ….. my first time in a long while.

I was so fortunate to purchase a beautiful scarf and then found a nice summer dress and they match.

We met the other K at the restaurant FAMOSO ( definitely spelled it incorrectly yesterday ).

OMG, so great … we had pizza and it was amazing.

The service was great ….. staff wonderful.

Even took a photo of us for my memory book ( in case my on-site one fails ).

Then we went and saw the movie “LUCY” and it was great.

My friend “G” had given me a gift card to the theatre with instructions to pay for everyone …… the girls were tickled pink.

How wonderful are the friends that I have ……. they are amazing and thoughtful.

Well we have an additional puppy here ….. looking after Mr. Casey …. a cute little guy.

Elton was just growling – not sure why but has stopped.

So lucky that the four of them get along ……

So on the day before my actual 57th Birthday …. I will say that I am so blessed to be surrounded by the best people on the planet.

I have amazing family and great friends.

The puppies are not so bad either.

Love “me Alvin” …… of course.

I am on cloud 9 ……. better yet cloud 7-7-7- ……..

Well time to go and grab some toast and then take the puppies for a walk.

Oh, this afternoon I was invited to my friend “G’s” house for coffee and another friend “S” will hopefully be there, too.

YAY.

I hope that you are surrounded by amazing people.

Have a wonderful Friday.

Also found out that my dear friend, her daughter (my niece) and grand-daughter (my great niece) are coming to Edmonton on the long weekend.

Special Hello to: Miss Hoda Kotb, Happy 50th Birthday; we share the same birthdate.  How cool is that!

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 2nd day of September, 2013.

Another breathtakingly gorgeous morning here in Edmonton.

I love listening to music when I am getting ready for work on the weekends.

During the week it seems I don’t think of it but on the weekends before working at the store.

It has become a ritual ….. listening to my favourite “current” songs.

I love “PayPhone” by Maroon 5 and also “Daylight”,  also “Try” by Pink, “Set Fire to the Rain” and “Someone Like You” by Adele and …..

Music always seems to energize me and get me in a great feeling mood.

I love the words and also the melody.

Sometimes I pick Alvin up and dance with him….

Sometimes he is okay with it other times I think he suffers in relative silence likely “thinking “Oh Momma” …..

But that is it for today ….. listen to some music and grab a partner and dance or just kick up your heels on your own.

I hope that you have a great great Monday ….. Happy Labour Day.

I also like Ed Sheeran, Mumford & Son, Terry McDermott, Cee Lo Green and the Lumineers (they are on my downloaded list that I listen to often).

Special Hello to: music lovers …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

I believe that everyone on the planet should receive an unexpected wonderful warm HUG every single day of their life.

Can you imagine how much better our world would be?

I have to tell you a little story.

Over the past few days I have been working at my job at the mall.

For a little background.

The multi-talented young megastar Taylor Swift was in town for two sold-out concerts (one Thursday night and one Friday night).

So our store was visited by many of her fans who stopped by with their Grandmas, Mothers, and Fathers for some soaps and stuff.

There was one particular young lady who stood out.  She asked me if we sold shampoo for children.

I told her that we sold shampoo & conditioner although not specially made for children; it was great and that I used it.

So while we were discussing shampoo – I noticed that she was wearing a Taylor Swift t-shirt and asked her about the concert.

She told me about all the set changes and all the different instruments Taylor played and that she was amazing.

We chatted about school and she told me she was going into Grade 5.  We formally introduced ourselves and she told me where she was from …..

Then out of the blue …… she reached over and gave me a big hug around the waist because that is where her arms reached.

How incredibly generous.  Especially these days.

I was so taken aback but so grateful for the hug.

We chatted for a few more seconds before she was on her way.

In a world that is so full of mistrust and malice it was wonderful to find such a warm hearted soul in one so young.

I had a strange but wonderful feeling envelope me.    A feeling that I had come across a very special human being.

It seemed like for the rest of the day everyone in our store (all the staff) were in the hugging mood.

How great is that?

Each hug feels like a million dollars and by the end of the day ….. I had about 40 million of them.

How blessed am I?  Very.

Thought for this day …… pass out HUGS.

They are FREE ….. give your each member of your family a big HUG.

See the smiles on their faces.

Thank you for all of the hugs.

I am eternally grateful for the little girl who brought warmth into my life in a quick minute, and then was gone.

Happy Saturday everyone.

Today,  I am surrounded by puppies.  Elton laying on the hall floor, Penny on one side of me and Alvin on the other.

(they are pooped out because we just came back from a morning walk and it is already beginning to get hot, supposed to be 30 today)

Truly I feel like the luckiest human being on the planet.

To be surrounded by so much love on a daily basis.

Always, Carol

Thought for the day….

Happy Saturday morning as I eat my breakfast and type this blog.

I work today at Bath & Body Works ….. Saturdays are always busy and you get to meet so many great people.

I am so grateful for this job.

I work with so many wonderful people of all ages which is great.

Quite often friends from Saskatchewan pop into the store unexpectedly.

Saskatchewan does not currently have any Bath & Body Works Stores so we are always visited from fellow Saskatchewanians or is it Saskatchewanites??

Last night some Taylor Swift concert goers were in the store.  They proudly wore t-shirts that they had purchased from the concert on Thursday night.

I am so blessed to be in a position to meet new people almost everyday and I absolutely love it.  To listen to their stories always makes my day.

Whether I am on switchboard at my “day” job or working in the mall …… I always find a way to have fun.

Each and every person has a story …. some more happy than others but a story just the same.

All most people want is to be heard… ….. that someone will care enough for a few moments to listen to our story.

So for this day, I would ask each and every one of you ….. to just listen when someone  wants to tell you something.

Whether it is someone you know very well or someone you meet in line at a store.

Remember to listen….. you might just be pleasantly surprised by how you feel after taking those moments to “care”.

Have a great Saturday….. I will be at the mall …. one of my most favourite places on the planet.

Working instead of shopping.  One of these days I will be in the mall to do some serious shopping.

Take Care……

Always, Carol
