Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Thursday the 22nd day of September, 2016.

Today is the first day of “FALL” or “AUTUMN” whichever term you prefer.

YAY, my favourite time of year.

Crisp but warm.

Colourful but calm.

I love this time of year.

This weekend we will make certain to take some walks and check out the different trees in the area.

We did not make it to many of the neighbouring parks this past summer so this weekend we will venture out.

Nice to see what is going on next door.

I pass this area on the morning bus ride to work.

The photo below is of my tree posted last year.

Love the colour of our tree

Love the colour of our tree

Our tree still has some green but has certainly amassed lots of yellow.

It looks so much fuller this year.

I must snap some photos.

Every year our tree grows.

The trees in our neighbourhood are getting so big.

IMG_0839 IMG_0836 IMG_0842 IMG_0823These photos are also from previous years but gives you an idea of how pretty that tree is.

I love the golden yellow colour.

The leaves so so soft when they fall off the tree and so many of them.

I know that not just from the look of them but from raking them up.

I hope that you have a nice tree(s) in our yard.

This is the time of year to thoroughly enjoy them.

Happy Fall Everyone.

Feels like a birthday or some other special occasion.

Have a great Thursday.

Special Hello to: Mother Nature, thank you.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 10th day of September, 2016.

The sun is shining amidst some deep blue rain clouds.

I hope that the sun wins out.

The forecast is for a nice day.

Last night Alvin and I enjoyed a beautiful walk in our neighbourhood.

The leaves are turning away from summer green to fall yellows and oranges and reds.

Mostly yellows at this time.

Alvin is waiting patiently for us so that we can go downstairs.

Of course, he forgets that we were up much earlier than now for his breakfast.

This morning decided to work backwards by having a shower, changing bedding and doing my blog before having breakfast, writing in my gratitude journal and having coffee.

I like to check back from time to time and see what I wrote over the years and I found something that is good advice if you will and a little bit funny.

From September 2010:

P.S.  Every day take a few minutes and just be grateful.  Pick up a notebook and it doesn’t have to be fancy. Then every morning before you go out into the world or if you are at home before you start doing your thing – write down all of the things you are grateful for or at least five.  Trust me, you feel better and it starts the tone for your day.  Suddenly that drive to work is more relaxing, the little one tugging on your pants (child or dog) doesn’t make you crazy, waiting in the line-up for your first cup of coffee doesn’t phase you out in the least and you just plain feel better.  Being grateful and loving just make the world a better place.  Also, remember to thank the girl that just made your first cup of coffee, and  to thank the young man that held the door open for you.

Back to 2016,

Have a brilliant Saturday.

We have quiet plans to do laundry, go for walks and do some tea stuff.

Happy Saturday.

Special Hello to: all of my dear friends and family ….. I think of you all the time.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 17th day of February, 2016.

It would appear that we have spring here in Edmonton.

Temperatures hovering around the zero and single digit plus temperatures.

We would not be complaining that is for sure.

The ice is melting.

Chip chip away ……

One morning we shall wake and the sidewalks and streets will be bare pavement.

Then it will be summer …..

I hope that you all had a grand long weekend ……

In Canada we celebrated “Family Day” and in the U.S. they celebrated “President’s Day.” and there was “Valentine’s Day.”

I have never googled to see if anyone else on the planet celebrates Valentine’s Day ….

Mmm, I seem to remember something about that day ….. will have to check later.

Maybe today would be a good time at some point to google something new.

Always good to learn something new.

It was a busy weekend.

What is new with you?

I hope that you are managing to get through winter depending on where you live.

Very cool that there are different types of “winter” and “summer” depending on which part of the planet you are located.

I will say that we are so lucky to have four different seasons.

Winter has perhaps become longer over the years but has definitely is shorter.

So on this mid week day …. I hope that you are well and ready to get on with this one.

Happy Wednesday.

Special Hello to:  my friends back in Saskatchewan “V” and “M” ….. thank you for support and friendship over the years.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 12th day of February, 2016.

This morning my mind has been racing to many different places ….. islands …. home …. work …. everywhere.

So I wanted to share a poem that I wrote several years ago.

Peace out my friends and have a great great day.

**************************************************

IN MY IMAGINATION

In my mind, there is a place

Where the sun shines all day

And it rains some nights

Where the tulips bloom to my delight

Where the water is crystal clear

And sparkles like diamonds in the sun

Where peace is not just a dream.

In my mind, there is a place

In my imagination

I found my dreams they all came true

I could touch the stars

And walk on the moon,  and then visit Mars.

In my mind, there is a place

In my imagination

I met you there on a sandy beach

When the sun was shining just before the rain

You took my hand, and you kissed my cheek

In my imagination.

In my imagination.

In my mind, there is a place

In my imagination

Somewhere that I can go

Kick off my shoes, walk in the sand

Meet you again in my imagination

Under the stars

In my imagination

Please remember to go

Meet me there

In my mind, there is a place.

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 23rd day of October, 2015.

YAY, today is Friday ….

The weather has been great this week and we have enjoyed our evening walks (me and Alvin).

Slowly but surely the last of the leaves have made their way to the ground.

Some still covering the ground making a multi-coloured blanket.

Others raked up right away.

Kind of sad but not the turn of the seasons.

I am so excited for the next week ….. both of my favourite times to decorate the house.

Halloween and Christmas.

Christmas you might say!

NOW …

Well next Sunday the 1st of November is the day that I take down the Halloween stuff and put up my CHRISTMAS TREE.

Hands down one of my favourite days of the years.

Since I moved to Edmonton, it has been a Mother and Daughter time sharing a mug of hot chocolate with one of our favourite Christmas movies playing in the background, as we haul up the decorations and the tree from the basement and begin the holiday preparations.

I love the lights and looking at all of my ornaments, some new others I have had for many years.  All have meaning and all are treasured.

The decorating of the tree marks the beginning of preparing the house for the season.  Usually it takes a couple or three days to get all of my inside the house decorations and ornaments up.

I take down virtually every ornament from inside the house and pack them in the Christmas containers.

This way the house does not have that “cluttered” feeling.

This takes more than an afternoon/evening.

Also my neighbour and I decorate our halves of the duplex with the same decorations and usually we do that in early November while the weather is still relatively warm.

One week from Sunday …… so excited.

Well before that excitement begins I have a weekend and a week of work.

I hope that you have an awesome Friday.

Almost time to fly once again.

Special Hello to: all those folks out there who put their tree up early to enjoy …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day ……

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 18th day of July, 2015.

It is a bright sunny breezy morning here in Edmonton.

I always appreciate the weekends and being at home.

Sure sometimes I am not fond of having to clean the bathrooms …. but I am at home.

When you go from having two jobs and working seven days a week …. having the weeknights and weekends free ….

Well it is amazing …..

I love sitting here writing on my blog with the window open listening to the children a couple doors down as they play in their back yard.

I love snuggling with Alvin every chance I get ….

I love watering my flowers and taking in their beautiful fragrances.

I love going for walks after supper with Alvin and enjoying our neighbourhood and each other.

I do actually love to clean and today is a cleaning day……

I love doing laundry and listening to my favourite songs.

I love dancing with Alvin and he “tolerates.”

I love thinking and planning what I am going to do ….. writing up a TO DO LIST.

So many things to do and now I do have the time.

There is time to relax.

There is time to write.

There is time to entertain.

There is time to visit my friends.

There is time to go for walks.

There is time to live my life.

But always at the end of the day I am very grateful to have had the second job when I needed it.

I worked with great people and most days had fun working.

Of course, there is always that one customer that would “sink your ship” but then there would be several that would make you feel like a million dollars.

So worth it and really every person should have to work retail.

All in all, I have a pretty amazing life.

I have my own house ….. which ten years ago I would not have thought possible.

I have a dog ….. never would have thought that would happen.

I lived for six years within walking distance to my kids (the last year under the same roof).

Some days there might be a small dark cloud that follows me around the house ( I do not mean Alvin ) but I try to let that be for a short time only.

Most of the time I feel that I have rainbows shining over me …..

My pot of gold is my life …… me Alvin … my daughter…. all my family, friends …….

Well it is time to go quickly to a neighbour’s garage sale as I said that I would and then come get Mr. Alvin and walk to the Vet to pick up food for our Miss Penny (who is visiting tomorrow with her Momma).

THEN WORK …….. but I will enjoy it ….. blast the music and in between it all dance with Mr. Alvin.

Special Hello to: all those folks who feel like there are dark clouds over head ….. you can change it …. bring on the rainbows.. your life is your life ….. make it what you want it to be.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Wednesday the 22nd day of April, 2015.

I hope that this finds you in excellent spirits.

It is about 5:47 a.m. here in Edmonton as I key these words.

Alvin is standing near the office doorway just starring at me.

Not sure if he is trying to tell me something or just being himself.

We are back to our routine …..

When I write in my daily gratitude journal he now joins me on my lap.

I love having him near me as I write in my journal.

I am on Day 2050 in the book.

Which is just over 5.5 years.

Not the same book, of course.

Each morning I do a couple of lines from the previous days.

Highlights you could call them.

Followed by a list of what I am grateful for ……

Followed by thank you for all of the people that were/are sick and for their healing.

Well Mr. Alvin is moaning out in the hall.

Sounds like an attention thing …. I think he is feeling okay.

Sure did not block his appetite this morning ….

Back to the writing ….. I actually starting keeping a journal when I was about 13-14.

Someone gave me a diary as a gift and that started it all.

Of course, even in school I did love to write….

My first poem was for Valentine’s Day when I was 7 to my Grandparents.

Somehow by writing things down it is my way of recording my history.

I think it helps me through each day and every situation.

Making it real ….

Well it is almost time here to head downstairs to make the final touches on getting ready to leave for work.

My life has been my life.

Full of interesting details …. I should say.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Write your life down ….. now it feels like a life.

Perhaps it should be a book ……

Special Hello to: my family and friends …. who are always supportive …..

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day…..

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 26th day of September, 2014.

Today is my son-in-law’s 40th Birthday.

Happy Birthday my boy.

I vaguely remember my 40th birthday which was 17 years ago.

Did I say 17?

WOW….. so much has happened in the past 17 years and I look forward to 17 more and then 17 more.

You never think that 40 will come, then 50, then 60 and so on.

Time has a way of zipping by and you just have to get in there and do what you want to do because if you do not … well you know.

Well sorry this has to be short and sweet but I am catching a ride with a neighbour this morning and I am running late.

What can I say?

Have a great day.

Celebrate …… always.

Special Hello to: my son-in-law “S” …. Happy 40th.

Always, Carol and Alvin

Thought for the day……

Good Morning and Welcome to Friday the 20th day of September, 2013.

Well this is going to be short one as my sister and brother are here.

So exciting to have them visit me.

We are going to see our other brother.

It will be great to all be together …. the first time in over four years.

So I hope that you have a great weekend.

Special Hello to: my family

Always, Carol and Alvin
