Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Monday the 17th day of December 2018.

Another quite nice day on the way – weather wise.

Yesterday I was feeling more energized after the tooth extraction on Friday.

Dental Assistant did say to relax for 48 hours.

So I did a few things on Saturday and the remaining chores yesterday.

Got a real workout vacuuming all three floors one right after the other.

Usually I do them different times.

Cleaning things as I went.

Poor Alvin ….. he just always wanted to be on the side of the vacuum cord beside me.

He definitely is a “Momma’s Boy.”

House is clean, yay.

Last night we went to the Christmas Zoo Light Event at the Edmonton Zoo, of course.

My son-in-law was not feeling well so we asked my friend’s daughter to go with us.

So we three girls hit the Zoo.

The Zoo is a quick drive from my house.

My daughter who has the car – had a bit of a drive – but not too bad.

When we arrived at the Zoo parking lot we were greeting by a ICE RINK.

Seriously it gleamed in the lights.

Very carefully with small penguin steps we walked to the Zoo.

Inside the Zoo area it was icy but at least there was sand/gravel in places.

To be fair there was a bit of sand/gravel in the parking lot near the entrance.

We were greeting at the entrance by OLAF from Frozen.

So cute.

I even had a hug from OLAF, I am in love.

Next stop was the REINDEER.

There were two of them out and about with their Zoo Assistants.

Talk about beautiful antlers.

I noticed a chunk of snow stuck to the side of one of the REINDEER and made a comment (not too loud but hoping that perhaps one of the staff heard and would brush it off).

Thankfully they did not allow the people including us very close.

They “drew” a line in the snow actually it was a row of rocks and asked everyone to stay on the other side.

I love the Reindeer.

During our first few minutes at the zoo we heard an announcement about someone falling on the ice – calling for an ambulance.

Sounded serious.

I never heard the sirens.

There was a bridge covered in flashing lights.

So pretty.

We walked around and my daughter took some photos of us near some of the light displays.

A couple of the large trees were covered in lights and were so pretty.

We happen to walk by the housing for the Eagles.

One of them was out and my daughter and I happen to walk over.

We just admired him/her.

Right behind us comes a couple of women and a child.

Wouldn’t you know that they would be out with their cameras and on with the flash.

The poor Eagle was traumatized by the light.

I tried very nicely to say something but nope they did not stop.

My heart feel low at that moment.

What is wrong is people?

I could not believe the stupidity.

How would they have liked someone shining this bright light in their eyes.

Honestly…. lately I am never surprised by the lack of common sense in people.

We walked to the IGLOO (not a real one) to warm up (actually for the young one).

We saw Santa and Mrs. Claus – waiting to have their photos taken with the children.

On the way back to the exit – we came across the gift shop.

Wouldn’t you know it – it was open.

We went in and both the girls did some shopping.

My daughter picked up a couple of items for a gift for one of her friend’s baby.

Our young friend picked up a few things.

When we left we once again walked very carefully to the car.

Once in the car, I said to our young friend to sit in the front so she could have the “bum warmer.”

Just after we were all in the car ….. she turned to me and gave me a Reindeer card and then one to my daughter.

I had seen her purchase them in the gift store and did not know that they were for us.

What a sweetheart – so thoughtful.

Well I am catching the bus so have to get with it.

Might be icy so am wearing my ice picks.

Have an awesome day.

Happy Monday.

Special Hello to:  Everyone …..

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Sunday the 16th day of December, 2018.

Well I would like to say that yesterday was super productive but I cannot.

Well I could say that yesterday instead that yesterday was a mix of rest and work.

I have a few things left that I wanted to get done this weekend.

This year I gave baking to “31” people.

Ranging from small cookies bags to large tins and containers.

I have a few left to hand out but they are all done and I had enough baking for them all.

I have Christmas wrapping to do but I will do that one night this week.

Finishing up some laundry today.

The coffee is now brewing.

Bathrooms and vacuuming to do.

The big stuff.

But I am feeling better today.

Yesterday I was just tired due in part to the tooth extraction.

One is supposed to relax and not be doing heavy work ( I guess vacuuming would fall into that category).

Oh well I can get it all done in a short amount of time.

Work has been ultra draining as of late, as well.

I will go after work on Friday and pick up the food for the Christmas party that I am hosting on Saturday next and for Christmas.

Then Saturday will just put the finishing touches on the party.

One quick “sweep” and putting the food and beverages in order.

I got this.

Oh and yes, I finally put the menu together for the Christmas party.

YAY.

Only took a couple of months.

Simple, someone said.

Mini Quiches

Caramelized Onion Cheese Dip (hot) – served with baguette

Pita Chips and Crackers

Red Chilli Jelly

Boursin Cheese – Cranberry with Cracked Black Pepper

Veggie tray ( carrots, grape tomatoes, cucumber and peppers) with dip

Sausage, cheese, pickles and crackers – one of the girls is bringing

Assorted Christmas cookies baked with love by Me.

Well I should get going.

Get dressed.

The last load of laundry is washing.

Coffee is perking.

Blog almost done.

Then breakfast and then vacuuming and bathrooms.

Afterwards time for a shower as I am going with my kids to see the Christmas Light Show at the Zoo.

I hope that you have a wonderful Sunday.

Everything is as perfect as you make it.

Special Hello to:  my sister ….

Thought for the day ….

Good Morning and Welcome to Saturday the 15th day of December, 2018.

I was quite lazy this morning so will now have to get to it.

The wind is howling outside.

Listening to Blake Shelter singing “Winter Wonderland.”

Alvin lying on his blue blanket beside me.

Sipping on almost cold coffee.

Visit to Dentist went well.

It has been a long time since I have had a tooth extracted.

So am taking it easy on the eating and drinking front.

Last night for supper after not eating since breakfast at 5:30 a.m., I feasted on scrambled eggs with a bit of cheese and followed by yogurt.

Perhaps that was a bit on the rich side as I felt a bit sick for a few hours.

After supper and once my stomach calmed down, I started making the sugar cookies for my friend.

I was happy when the last one was iced and placed in her container and into the fridge.

She was going to pick them up and then plans changed.

They are ready for pick up today.

All baked and iced.

They are her favourite.

Baking officially done.

I will be happy once 1:20 p.m. rolls around so that I can rinse my mouth.

I very carefully brushed my teeth last night and this morning but not a thorough job as I did not wish to disturb the extraction area.

Oddly enough today I am not really hungry and I am quite certain that the banana that I shared with Mr. Alvin earlier is not quite enough sustenance to get me through until supper.

I have some soup and that will be for supper.

Not feeling like chewing much.

I cannot believe that Christmas is a week away.

Where did the time go?

Today I must get laundry done, clean the bathrooms and regular cleaning.

Also at some point must get some grocery shopping done.

Which then begs the question?

What is the final menu for next Saturday’s Christmas party.

Normally I would not be so all over the place but it is co-workers.

Some of them are hard to please.

I know.

It really does not matter.

Do what I usually do and it will be wonderful.

I know.

Some people just have a way of playing with my confidence.

I guess if they say anything ….. it will just reflect poorly on them, right.

Tomorrow night, so excited as my daughter, son-in-law and I have tickets to take in the ZOO’s Festival of lights.

It has been years since we partook in a Christmas event.

I am so excited.

Years ago, when I used to visit them here in Edmonton – we would take in the Light Shows at different venues.

Well I guess that I had better get going.

Lots to do.

Alvin and I are both missing our walks.

So icy out here.

Now with the wind the sidewalks will be even more slick.

I hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Happy Saturday.

I am grateful to have a day at home with just regular stuff to do.

I did take a peek at the gifts that I have put together for this year.

Time to wrap.

I love to wrap gifts for Christmas.

Have an awesome day.

I am starting to feel recharged.

Special Hello to: my family and friends ….. Wishing you all Silver and Gold ……

Always, Carol & Alvin
